I currently have an Atem Mini Pro. Getting this in addition would be a good addition. I can now have up to 7 cameras on a live production. Feeding all 4 SDI inputs and 3 HDMIs, Then converting one SDI output into HDMI and sending it into the Atem Mini pro as a single input. I will then monitor the entire production on the Atem Mini Pro's Multi View. That's just an additional $345 with so much flexibility.

And here I was planning for a rack box installation with BiDir converters... hm. Maybe I'll wait a bit. Hopefully they launch a 4K product before I cave in! :D Good video 👍

Haha same with me but I did built this box at the beginning of the year, including a 12x12 Videohub. I'm thinking of getting the new SDI extreme model to get rid of all the converters and videohub. 4 Outs is enough for the small gigs I do with this setup.

Oh why not 4 HDMI plus 4 SDI, and split the outputs too……. Would have been perfect. I’d be surprised if there are many customers that want ALL SDI at this price range.

@@RussHollinshead if anyone needs HDmi and sdi they should buy atem TV Studio, but the cross converter is the asle. But then blackmagic know how make one feel sillý

Would have loved to see a 2 HDMI/2 SDI input model with 1 HDMI out for preview and 1 SDI out for program. Double that for the SDI extreme.

I'd love it if Blackmagic brought back their Micro Studio line of cameras. It'd work perfectly with one of these new switchers

Hi! We have now so many options to choose from...so there is one thing I would really like BMD to explain and that is the talkback function - since the Extreme has now 4 SDI outputs just like the Tv Studio HD, this would in theory make it possible. I own the TV Studio HD and ATEM Extreme ISO and I was considering replacing all the cameras with the Studio 4K Pro with Studio Converter, but this would only make sense if this also allowed for bi-directional communication (which I now have solved externally, just like tally). Does anyone have any experience making the talk/back (I do not really need the ops to talk BACK, but I sure need to talk to THEM :)?

OMG, I think Alex Pettit had been hinting at the release of an SDI ATEM Mini line, and here it is not two weeks later. No more BMD Micro-BiDi adapters needed if you got SDI cams/SDI monitors/Ultra-studio,.. the list goes on and on. As you pointed out, I'm hoping the BMD Constellation 4M/E HD purchasers (Aaron P. and Ryan S. especially) get their units soon.

it's too bad that they did NOT include HDMI inputs for these 3 models. wow I'm kinda surprised. I know SDI is the professional standard but prosumer gear would be nice to plug in also. :(

Love the extra output on the pro iso and the 4 instead of 2 outputs on the sdi extreme iso. That if they really are independently programmable. As the sale price is a lot higher then the hdmi versions in my country, I would stick to the hdmi versions and add dsi-hdmi mini converters to be able to chose a needed number of channels sdi and keep the rest hdmi. So I am not going to update my current extreme iso just for the two extra outputs.

Intresting choice I wanted super source and wonder when the 4k sdi models will hit and how much more that will be if this is same price points as hdmi. I really like the dual sdi to cam to controll it and fear that this is a stop gap between a super hight price 4k sdi new with super source and Fairlight atem. Like starting at 3k or more but thats just a guess

every production I've been on uses a mix of hdmi inputs usually min x4 (but these days of streaming that can be like x8) and sdi inputs typically 2-3... gotta think how to integrate SDI cam switching into an hdmi version? or is it the other way around? just buying heaps of decimators seems stupid? or how long will we wait until they come out with an extreme that mixes the inputs up?

Or add input scalers to the TV studio 2/3 rack mount. That would be the perfect solution for me.

I think 'Sting' is meant for Stinger Transition, that you can upload image sequence or webm or alpha mov file to create stinger transition

It is meant for that but that functionally has not been added to the device making the button disabled.

How will camera control work? Does this mean no tally unless you use one of the outputs?

I have the atem mini extreme ISO for recording videos in my studio. In what circumstances would it make sense to change to SDI?

Why is the multiview output done only by SDI and not via HDMI? An SDI monitor is very expensive or we have to use a converter. I’m missing something? 🤔

@@KabiesiTV yeh you do that and then whats the point anymore of the all in one box when you have a bunch of boxes to plug up and all the noodles of cables ?? lol JUNK for someone wanting to spend in this price range, they really screwed up not giving us HDMI inputs and outputs in my opinion.

You sure can!

Make sure this is the right model for you. You need an HDMI input for computers and most (if not all) DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Seems that BMD aimed this for professional videographers and not KZread content creators.

I think this is for people who wish to run larger distance cables by having a HDMI to SDI converter and not wanting another SDI to HDMI converter.

Hi, how can we Multiview monitor? This switcher does not have HDMI output. SDI monitor are bit costly. But if we use SDI-HDMI convertor, this will kill the purpose of portability. Also why does Blackmagic not allowing audio output for large spankers etc.

If i have atem sdi switcher can i record from the software?

I really like Black magic for making an sdi one. The only 'bad' thing about this switcher is that you dont have an sdi return for every camera. So if you want to use shading, you can for 3 camera's. Than you have 1 sdi for multiview

You can pass 1 SDI output through a distribution box and pass that back to multiple cameras (at least that was possible in the past with BMD switchers)

@@MortenFaust It would. Because all camera control data is embedded in the PGM and each camera just picks their part matching their Tally ID. So a simple SDI distribution should be sufficient.

I hope the least they would have done is to fix the terrible unbalanced audio.

If the inputs have the same scalers/converters as the HDMI Minis and the Constellation series then they won't handle PsF signals correctly. Plenty of cameras still send PsF especially for 1080 30/25.

Still only one supersource ;(

Even the 2 M/E ATEM Constellation HD only has one super source. :\

I wish they didn't have the iso versions. Useless to me. If I am recording I am doing so at 6k not 1080p. I don't want to pay more for a feature I won't ever use. Ever.

Cmon Black Magic you are still repeating the same process just changing SDI to HDMI, most people have an HDMI monitor hanging around and you guys could include an HDMI out put or even 2 SDI Inputs and 6 SDI or 4x4 ------ still have stereo mic inputs "XLR" MINI AT LEAST still have h.264 recording - this company either doesnt know how to combine the two or just not listening to none of you that promote their content..--- Great stuff John but black magic needs to come better.......
