AT&T Fiber Install (Unedited)

This video was made because I was having long, sporadic internet service outages with my AT&T fiber internet service which was installed in June, 2019. Since that time, we have had to call out 6 AT&T technicians:
- The original installer who did an AWFUL job inside the house.
- A second installer who cleaned up first tech's awful job.
- A repair tech who was called after a 48 hour outage 3 weeks ago.
- Two more technicians who arrived after the "repair man" couldn't fix the issue.
- A new repair tech who is coming later today since we continue to have serious outages.
This video details the horrific job that was done outside my home by the first install tech and then completely ignored by every subsequent tech who visited.

You must be from the special crew or click then, since you know the techs are given 1.5 hour to complete that job.

The coyote box is just a splice box. It didn't have to be mounted, but this should have been buried. The install tech can't bury the line but should have placed a ticket for buried crew. Buried crew likely turned it back because they say there is a pole route

You need a tech to fish the trees and get it into the air. If they can replace the entire drop with no splices that would be best. The manual splices are killing the signal. Problem is techs get 40 minutes on a trouble ticket. This job will really hurt the tech that fixes it correctly. The first tech should have done it right the first time. The next tech needs to fix it properly and then discuss this with the manager of the original tech.

Also there is a super obvious break in the fiber right at the bump pole before his house, he’s literally holding it in his hands and you can see the break at 3:47 seconds.

I am a retired Outdide tech in miami. What you were the victim of a hit and run install. More than likely the techs that were sent were new and not properly trained and told just get it in. By the way that wire is ok to run aerial. Some if the other post remarked about your trees. The local companies don't do tree trimming so more than likely the original tech should of turned back the install till you trimmed the trees. Unfortunately thus us the new AT&T get use to it.

Tell you what, trim your trees between poles and you wouldn’t have a problem. You people think that techs can run a line between poles in matter of minutes when there are branches blocking away.

That black box on the ground is a splicing box. It means the fiber got cut or damaged right there & had to be spliced back together and the connection point protected inside a box. They keep the spliced ends that connect together in the box as a weatherproofing mechanism. The gray boxes are the exact same thing except it’s an intention splice. They put the black box in when it’s been damaged or cut and it’s typically buried underground

You have to prune your trees man that looks to be Ariel fiber but cannot be ran in the air cause no one wants to clean up that forest back there. The only two options you have is run a conduit yourself to the serving terminal and yes tons of customers do it themselves or have the AT&T manager send a bury crew to bore a rock fiber drop to the serving pole. I’m a contractor an I see this a lot because customers assume telecommunications companies cover everything like tree pruning, running conduit.if the companies did that you would be making a video complaining about how long it took the company to actually do the install

That’s acceptable as long as the technician gets the job done in the alloted time, quality work is the last thing that At&t wants or cares about, they know you dont have a lot of other options in internet service provider, so as long as you keep paying for that crap they dont care

If I was your at@t tech I would fix the line and re install the fibre lines and fix the Black box to the Utility pole Shorten and fix the fibre lines take away old fibre lines That’s the previous tech install Clean up the Garbage he left and Repurpose the fibre lines For another job That’s what I would do in my mind I would Reinstall your entire Internet service and tv service This job will probably take me 4 to 5 day’s Because I would care about this type of thing I would treat it like like my own house They didn’t treat the Fibre lines with respect then bury them in the ground or anything they left the Blackbox on the ground not on the utility pole that can be Very dangerous .

I have found this problem to be very common with AT&T installers. My guess is that they get pay by the installation so the more installs they can do in a day regardless the quality, it is Ok. My neighbor just had his Fiber installed and I swear my 5 year old son could have done a better job.

We’re paid hourly. This is just a result of the efficiency metrics AT&T uses for the technicians. Seemed like tech preferred to “complete” the job rather than returning due to the debris that prevented him from running the drop between the poles.
