On this day in 1928, Eydie Gormé was born. Here is a rare clip of her performing a duet of “At along Last Love” with Sammy on his show Sammy & Company in 1975.

Sammy Davis could play several instruments, sing, act, dance and do impersonations. He was a most talented man. And Eydie Gorme, well, I'm simply in love with the sound of her voice and the sight of her face.

In 1990, I saw Frank, Liza and Sammy perform live in Atlanta. First Sammy Davis performed. Next it was Liza Minnelli. Frank Sinatra (who was arguably the world's greatest) was saved for the last. Sadly, Sinatra was way past his prime. Liza Minnelli was so very great and thrilling (she was still in her prime) However, the absolutely greatest of all the three was Sammy Davis! His voice sounded as though he was still in his prime. He truly sounded like a much younger man who was in his 30s 40s. (He later died a year later with throat cancer.) He was absolutely the very best of the three singers. Liza Minnelli was the next and sadly, Sinatra was last. I'll never ever forget Sammy Davis that night. He was absolutely electrifying-holding the entire audience mesmerized in the palm of his hand!

Do you have the whole show with Eydie Gorme and Sammy? Do you have any more shows with Steve and Eydie and Sammy? They were all great friends. Eydie was very upset when Sammy passed away.

Is it possible to post the whole show with Eydie and Sammy? There is a clip of Sammy and Steve painting each other. Any chance of you posting anything with Sammy and Steve? Steve and Eydie loved Sammy. We all did!!!!!

In mid-fifties Chicago, this tune, sung by Frank, was the opening song for the Sid McCoy Jazz program WCFL, 1000 on the AM dial.

One of Sammy’s biggest hits, I’ve Gotta Be Me, was written by this lady and her husband, Steve Lawrence! I love knowing that!

Not sure where you got that idea. The song was written for Steve and Eydie for their broadway show Golden Raindow,. The music and lyrics for the musical were composed and written by Walter Marks in 1967. Steve and Eydie were not songwriters.

@@gabinadina I had read somewhere, years ago, that they had written the song and gave it to Sammy to do. If I find the link, I will post it. It could be incorrect, tho. So, I stand corrected, if that is the case. Thank you for sharing.

....."Steve and Eydie were not songwriters......" is not entirely true. In fact, they wrote this song that each of them recorded separately - CAN'T GET OVER BOSSA NOVA kzread.info/dash/bejne/i511k9huZruvYKw.htmlsi=p0hqvLtA04HdYjd3
