At Last, I get to ride the replacement Royal Enfield Classic 350
After Ivy was stolen the hunt was on to find her replacement. I found a mint condition very low mileage Classic 350 that was better than new condition.
Since I’ve had the new bike, the weather has been terrible with wind, rain, snow and ice.
I was bursting to get out and start filming again, so when there was a break in the weather I was out tootling along the back lanes in Derbyshire.
It was so nice to get back out listening to the burble of the exhaust
Grab your cuppa and let’s ride back into summer.
Ride safe, Dave.

Yes please! Do the old magazines! I love that stuff! People get so hung up on horsepower, but forget that road holding in all weather and torque for hills is the most important attribute. (This is probably why in the old days they had hill climbing trials.)
Really glad you got another Classic well done old son. Glad to hear you sounding a bit chirpier.😊👍
I'm a 61-year-old man from the Ozarks been watching you ride your lovely bike thanks to you too you I'll be picking up R E classic the first of March thank you for the inspiration😊😊😊
The old motorcycles reflected the character of their native country. They all had a special something about them. People had their motorcycles forever ♾️ . They became part of the family. More than just a vehicle, it's something special. Not a disposable appliance. It's name will always be Ivey.
Hi Dave, Regards BHP my mates father owned a BSA 500cc M20 back in the sixties with a sidecar fitted kept it well into the eighties then he bought a Reliant, that BSA kicked out 13 BHP the AA used them as you probably know, The BSA M21 600cc kicked out 15 BHP. I always keep this in mind, and always ride the bike using the rev range where the available torque is and that keeps it under the red line which i notice is how you ride bikes. Cheers Baz

I put 36,000 miles on my CM-185 Twin Star ⭐✨ in the year and a half l had the bike. I ride all over the state of Florida when I had my learners permit. Now I ride the same roads on my Sportster. It's the mindset that matters. Not the size of your motorcycle 🏍️.
Great to see you out on your new bike. I would certainly be interested in learning about old bikes via your magazine collection 🤩👍
Stunning scenery 👌 Great to see ya back in the saddle.
Nice to se you are back on your 350 i envy you all in uk that can ride this time of yare i em lucky if i can see some gras late mai silly amounts of snow and have sevrel weeks below 20-30 c minus longing fore summer se you all riding on you tube in butifulle country sides 🙂and a fasinating observation is all the stone wals/fensens longside the roads wow how manny men and yares to build? uk can take a new name the land of stone wals😊 ride safe have a grate season all the best.
Lovely to meet the new bike, hopefully she will become a faithful friend just like Ivy. You still got the knack of finding some stunning scenery. Enjoyed that a lot, all the best Nige.
Welcome back. Have been watching your remaining recordings. And yes please, would love hear some articles from old magazines.
Nice to see you out again.any content would be good.loved the ride out.🤜🤛🏍
So nice to see you back out there on the road again, Dave! Your enthusiasm for the countryside is really nice to hear. The old two-and-a-half horsepower referred to in the 1914 magazine actually referred to the RAC rating, not the actual engine output. The RAC rating, introduced in 1910 was for road tax purposes and was defined as (b2 x n) /2.5, where b is the bore, measured in inches and n is the number of cylinders. For example, the 1927 Talbot 14/45 car was powered by a 1.7-litre inline six, with a bore of 2.401 inch, stroke of 3.740 inch, giving a bore/stroke ratio of 0.64; its RAC rating was 13.9 HP. Actual output was 41-48 hp, hence the 14/45 name. The 900 cc Austin Seven of the late 1930's (with a bore of 2.235 inches) had an RAC rating of 7.99 HP, but an actual output of 25 HP. The RAC rating remained in force until 1947 when, for cars, it was replaced by a flat 10-pound per year flat rate. The road tax on the BSA would have been 2 guineas in 1914 as its RAC HP was in the 0-6.5 HP range. That tax changed in January 1921 to one pound per horsepower.
Yay! At last!
Nice to see you’ve got another bike and back on the road, hope you had some time to look at the Litelok or Hiplok definitely a step up in security although nothing 100%. On the subject of hp I recall an old patient of mine from many years ago recounting how in the twenties or thirties he had come to Windermere from Manchester on his first bike with his mate on the pillion. He said they arrived in Bowness but could not get up the hill two up so his mate had to get off and push a bit.
I was so pleased my bike went to a good home! You seem to be having great fun already. I went crazy and replaced the litte gem with a BMW R18 Classic. A year older than the Royal Enfield but only 470 miles - ex BMW Motorrad. Perhaps I'll see you on the road one of these days. Since you bought my little gem - what about Ivy's replacement being called Gemma? Happy riding!

Hi Nick, It has a good home here. It's a lovely bike and I love riding it, the only down side is I never know when to stop riding. I'm out tomorrow Saturday making more content. Your new R18 sounds a lovely bike, fingers crossed we will hopefully see each other out on the road. Ride safe mate, Dave
Good to see you out and about on your new 350 Dave and enjoying it as well. Sounds daft but it does take a bit of time to build that bond and trust in a new bike but once established many happy miles lie ahead hopefully. Ride safe Martin
The route comparisons would be really interesting ,I think...
Hi that bloke on a moter bike, great to see you out on your new bike and I have been to monsal head and I have walked across that rail road bridge and have parked on that pub car park and been on holiday in the peak district last year and enjoy staying there
For such a small country Britain has such beautiful scenery.I know you will enjoy your new motorcycle.
yes! good for you! love and support from far away
Rivelin Valley and A 57 to Ladybower. Great to see you back on a Classic 350. What gloves do you use please ?

Yea I thought it looked like the Rivelin valley area. Obviously slightly later it proved to be A57 as Ladybower was approached.
Thanks Dave, that was a great road you found. I've been busy with work and editing videos so I'm only just catching up with your travels again, it's good to see you out enjoying your new bike. Most roads will have changed beyond recognition in 85 years but thankfully there are still a few that have remained almost as they were. It will be interesting to see what those routes look like now.
What did you think about the potholes from Mortimer Rd down to Ladybower? Terrible at the moment. Lovely to see you out on the new bike.
As always, a great video; lovely scenery, nicw steady pace, no constant talking, no annoying music and, when you come to a viewpoint, you generally stop and admire it whereas many go "WOW, just look at that view!" - vroom, gone!! So sorry to hear about Ivy - ****ards!
Muito BOM ver seus Vídeos, sensacional mesmo, MOTO ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC 350cc Halcyon Black MARAVILHOSA, e Lindas paisagens e Belas Estradas.
Rivelin Valley ! Heading toward laby bower 👍👍 there’s loads of lanes to explore in the peaks , I cycle around there and are thinking of buying the RE 350 classic it seams a great bike for the job . The uk really doesn’t have the roads for the crazy super naked bikes 😊 nice video 👍👍
We often stay at Litton Mill - one of our favourite places.
Great to see you enjoying your new bike!
Yay! Smashing to see you back Dave.
Some great roads in that area. Monsall head being a regular coffee stop, especially in nice weather. Lots of reports recently regarding the Keis heated gear. Came very close to buying the jacket, 12 months ago. Decided not to, because I would have got off the bike whilst being hard wired & caused all kinds of issues! lol. Good to see you back on the rides with the new steed. 👍
Great to see you out the the replacement bike again Dave. So glad you stuck with the same model and sounding bike. I quite agree with you about wanting the bike to stay standard. Just enjoy the nice steady ride. Not long now before you will be out touring around more often.
Good to see back out and about. "Glad to alive". Well said fella😃👍❤️
Yippee…..your back. Can’t wait for new name as we miss you talking to the ride..😜 we don’t get tired of your descriptions of the scenery just keep things as always with the odd extra from times past. Take care and shiny up.
Welcome back on 350 sorry just catching up..with your latest vids...due to missing my himalayan I've got another....only thing I'm not ok is my legs to long for classic 350. . .so back to himmy... regarding all mods on 350 it's down to owners choice but as james may keeps saying mines staying "STANDARD"😂😂😂😂atb
Evening, so good to c u back in the saddle, would love to hear some voice overs from the old magazines and I'd love to watch you doing some of the old routes from the late 30s just see the difference especially as most of the motor way network would not of been built
Good to see you out on your new steed Dave lovely relaxing.. calming...informative ride excellent
Great to see you and your new bike, Dave. Don't change anything you do when you take us for a ride. I think most of us older riders talk to our bikes and give them a name. I can't wait to hear what name you give to your new 'baby'. Stay safe Dave.
It's great to see you out on the new bike, I used to read a comic when I was a child featuring a collie dog out and abot in the Dale's called "Bob" How about that for a name for the bike
Ladybower yes .. what potholes .. terrible road surfaces we have now 😢
I love reading the old British motorcycles magazines.I miss all the old magazines road tests and such. Very entertaining reading. Glad you got your motorcycle 🏍️. Life is hell without a motorcycle 🏍️.
Pleased you’re back nice to see the new 350 good luck with everything dave
Welcome back! It’s exciting to travel with you again. By the way, Dave, it’s easy to hear the renewed enthusiasm in your voice now that you’re doing what you love most.
Ah! Ladybower, remember it well, nice to see that area again, good to see you enjoying the new 350, Cheers, DINO andCLAN, We about half way out of our winter now, not that it stops us riding at 17c! Looking forward to more lovely rides from the old country.

Hi Dino, it's been raining hard here all week. the forecast for tomorrow Saturday is looking dry so I will be out on the bike. I will have my heated jacket on, it's still freezing over here. yoou and the clan stay safe, dont suffer too much in your "winter" 🙄
Welcome back sir.. great too see you out and about.. look forward to more as the season gets into spring x
I think its the quality of light at these latitudes, along w/ cloud cover that diffuses, brightens & creating the molto bene 1 hour of perfect evening light? Right? Hahaha
Your trips, stories, and commentary are a full dosage of relaxation and goodness. Thank you😊
Nice to see you out and about again Dave, great roads as usual 😎
Always enjoy your videos Thank you
i have 350 meteor , for the last 2 years , the bike is good all rounder ,
You were riding my local stomping ground, really nice to get your view of it, because being local you don’t realise how good I have it, always hankering for lake districts or wales, ride safe love the videos don’t change a thing Grindleford for breakfast, Monsal head for ice cream on a warm summers day can’t beat it
Thank you Dave. Great to have you back on the beloved classic 350. As a new subscriber, I was just starting to view your previous videos. What a rollercoaster ride, in every sense, your adventures and adversity. Beautiful, informative and relaxing content while out on your rides. Keep up the good work and thanks again.
Glad you're out on the new'n Dave, I was out on that route yesterday on my Vstrom but as I left Ladybower I turned off and went up Bamford edge, the little steep lane opposite the Bridge inn , some excellent views up there. Then I went over to Monsal head . Have you been to the other end of the railway route to Hassop station and the cafe ? It's a great place for a brew and a snack . Yeah it gets tiresome listening to people saying it should have been a five hundred or it could do with another twenty horse power, well it wouldn't be the same bike so go and buy something else! Nice video, Cheers Mel 🍻
Lovely to see you out and touring the countryside.
Great to have you back
Great fun on a great bike cheers !
Cracking video as usual Dave. That's my back yard! Where you stopped on the Litton road, to your left was Peter's Stone - also known as Gibbet Rock as it was the site of the last public gibbeting in Derbyshire. Interesting story - worth Googling!
Great trip 👍
Another great vid Dave! Good to see you out on the new bike!
Great stuff Dave good to see you back ,onwards and upwards 👍
Glad to see you back out on a new bike
Thoroughly enjoyed that ride, bike sounds great and scenery was beautiful. You’ve inspired me to get my 350 Classic out for a ride around the South Downs. Something about that bike and sound just makes me feel good 😊. Yes, please do more anecdotes from old bike mags!
Thank you for the lovely views on this tour over small roads. That`s just what I also love, here In germany. There is no massiv power needed, riding such country lanes. On my small KTM ADV its always enough. best regards from the "Weserbergland" OWL
Glad you are back, missed your videos.
Rivelin Valley
My favorite. Ride in my area was. The old hwy. Columbia river gorge old Hwy. 205. Washton state. Northwest. Lemay.
Congratulations on the new bike Dave 👍
Good to see you out on the new bike, she does need a name Dave!
Nice to see you back Mr Bloke 👍
It’s yes also from me re re old magazine ride outs👍. Good to see you back out and about. Lovely scenery Dave.
Great little film.....what better therapy than chugging through the Peaks on a single. On the subject of singles I tested a Speed 400 Triumph the other day. What a bike.....it will do everything including chugging and did 87 mpg on my test ride.
Great ride , I love it when you ride though tree lined lanes. Please do read out some interesting stuff from your magazine 😊👍🏍️
Great to see you out on the new bike Dave, what a cracking route today, definitely do some bits from your mag collection, as for naming the new bike, considering he’s a replacement for Ivy, how about Bill as in Bill Ivy the 60’s GP racer ? All the best buddy 👍
Our travelling area to monsal its brill .
Like others wrote, yes to mags and as for name you said it in your vid.......Flower.
I like the key better than those new key fobs.
Great to see the new bike. Did you fit your pigeon basket.? You were on the A57 heading out of Sheffield towards Ladybower. Can I have my bonus point? 😀😀
Know ir well, but always go over the Strines nway
👍
Ayup Dave. Great to see you out on the new bike. Like you said, wait 'til you get a bit of a connection going, then her name will come to you. I DID recognise where you were, as you headed down to Ladybower res. I haven't been up that way in years but I know the road so well - I once cycled that route from my home in Barnsley when I was in my teens. God knows why!😅 Can I ask how your camera is attached to your shoulder, please? Some sort of harness? All the best to you mate - ride safe.

I try to stay off the bike at sunrise an sunset. If the sun is in your face, the people behind you cant see you. If its at your back, the people in front of you cant see you.
Hobbs cafe up the top..
Never could understand the need to give machinery names ,oh and by the way my Meteor is called " Rumble" :D
Folks who say it isn't enough "power" usually don't understand the difference between torque and speed maybe 🤔
Hi Fella. What about the name Ruby for your new baby? Stay safe, Old Bloke
Well i think that lovely lady is a jane
