At Home in Paris with The Hurleys
Join us in Paris for a behind the scenes visit with Malu and Micky Hurley and their six children in their sumptuous Paris family home. Years earlier when Chilean born designer Micky Hurley and wife Malu decided to split their time between New York and Europe, they had found a stunning pied-à-terre in a 17th century hôtel particulier that perfectly suited their needs and aesthetics. Then while in Paris, the pandemic hit, the airports closed, Malu discovered she was pregnant again and the two bedroom apartment quickly became too small for their growing family. Happily, they found their current Parisian abode, a larger pied-a-terre that became their salvation. See how Micky’s expert eye melds his passion for antiques and textiles with comfort and color. Learn how his and Malu’s knowledge of and appreciation for art and collecting infused the apartment with a healthy respect for the past, giving it a lived in yet timeless feel. I live with antiques and art in an old home, but this beautiful home evoques PARIS. I love this home. Charming couple and children. This visit was inspiring in so many ways. I wish the best for this lovely family and their lives together in this gorgeous space.
I did not want this to end . As if Edith Wharton , Henry James , Honore' de Balzac and F Scott Fitzgerald in some magic way got together and channeled every happy memory of all things bright and beautiful . This would be the result .

What a wonderful, true family home with a special family inhabiting it! In January 2020, my issue of Veranda with a focus on Paris arrived, and I still have it, because I love the Hurleys beautiful flat that they created then. I was amazed how they could so beautifully accommodate their family in it, so when this video popped up today, I was thrilled to see their new home, and that they had added to their precious family.(congratulations Hurleys!). I love, love everything about this home! The antique furnishings and the art are just so perfect and inspiring! Thanks for sharing it with us all.
What a pleasure to see people with taste living in a vintage apartment beautifully furnished with traditional French furniture. It’s the antithesis of the poorly rehabbed vintage apartment where they put the kitchen at one end of the living space and all of that dreadful glaring overhead lighting in the ceiling. The space in your video had table/floor lamps which provided a good level of lighting for entertaining or reading. Everything was beautifully placed and coordinated and didn’t look “done”. Brava/o !!

I also embrace the passage of time, but in some instances restoration is necessary to make sure the object/art piece will live many years more. Saying all that, what a beautiful place, love it!

I have a 120 year old painting where the bottom part of the gilded frame was water damaged and I have left it because that is part of the paintings history through time. I wouldn't change it and I get what they were talking about.
The high ceilings make that space very special. I like the color palettes they use, keeping the brights for impact. It was a treat for me to inherit a small 1930s solid maple bookcase that had belonged to my grandparents. It matches the mantel and moldings in my 1930s guest room/sewing room, and holds so much. It's always a joy to meet people who appreciate books, even in this age of electronics and streaming. Nope, not going to read Jane Austen on my phone.
She is Fortunate to have the ability of going into the various homes, etc, to learn and admire from in life!

Don't wait. I do and I'm a poor American on disability. My apartment of course, no where near approaches the architecture shown here, but I buy lovely things and have wallpaper lifting each room. I know my space could never be featured on Quintessence, but I feel good about what I've created with what I have. Go for it. Collect beautiful things for your space, even if it's only one room. You won't regret it.
The James Wyatt chair is excellent. All the furniture is unusually well selected. Kudos. What a great environment!

So true. Sometimes the frames alone are so beautiful on Sotheby's or Christie's that you want the painting just for the frame even if you don't love the painting itself. You just don't see a lot of new frames like that these days. Maybe someone will start a company of new frames in gorgeous styles!

Yes! I have four children and it's so refreshing to see a large family on this (or any) channel. They live beautifully but they also have to share and accommodate each other in their home, which will benefit them later in life.

I live in Paris and I can tell you a lot of people (especially older and old money people) still live like this. It is not even a rare thing. Especially in the 6th or 7th arrondissement where I think they are located.
