Same. I’ve been doing my own hair since I was like 15 and I swear I like the way it turns out when I do it better, lol. Once you get the hang of doing the back, you’re good to go when it comes to “simple” things like root touch ups and highlights.

Me too they have ruined my hair I’ve talked out nearly a thousand pounds and even got my hair chopped when I asked for a trim what a waste, doing it my self now like I used to

Omg whenever I see someone doing their own highlights I'm like "this girl has the biggest balls I have ever seen"

Another tip for you is go from the bottom up with your foils, helps keep it from being messy or hectic to do.

I see why that is easier to do, however my bottom layers are often brighter than the top when stylists do this (super thick/a lot of hair). Is there a way to avoid that?

Same here. Always keep saying my hairstylist to start from top front section as I like them to be the lightest.

@@strwbryblondi07use a lower developer. If you start with 10 and move up to 20 or 30 as you go up it will be more even

As a hairstylist, I must say I am VERY impressed! Everything from our “language” to the techniques used.. good job!

This looks absolutely incredible! ❤️ I have recently had a terrible mishap with darkening my (naturally) dark blonde hair. After a trip to the salon to have highlights put back in throughout, I STILL have so many brown, now fading to orangish red, pieces everywhere--plus, my hair didn't look even close to as fabulous as yours did in this tutorial! I have done my own highlights at home before for years, which I went to cosmetology school right out of high school, but back in the "cap highlighting" days! I need to try this--thanks so much for posting!

Elle Bangs is the og, best hairdresser out there. I ALWAYS use her tutorials for my hair. Seriously, she’s the best.

Omgsh really was the saving grace!

I've been doing my own for a while now but I've never done a root tap before... gonna be trying that out next time! Also, a little tip for getting the back: I hang a mirror on the wall (directly across from my bathroom mirror) so that I can see the back. It's a little weird at first because you're working off what you see in the mirror so things are flipped, but it's definitely do-able. Great job!
