I remember my freshman year at Morehouse, there was a guy from Los Angeles who was a member of Rev. Cleveland's church. He told me everyone knew the reverend was gay and he liked young boys. I remember going home for Christmas break and telling my grandmother, that a member of James Cleveland's church told me he was gay. I'll never forget my grandmother's reaction, lol, I thought she was gonna have a heart attack.

Well, some say James Cleveland was hidden, open or whatever, however, God’s Judgment stands strong for EVERYONE. It’s amazing how he was so “anointed “ as some say, nevertheless his name is exposed and not looking good, especially in God’s eyes. Know that God is the only One that matters for all at the end of our lives. God commanded us to be Holy for He (God) is Holy. We can’t water down God’s Word to suit our own proclivities. There was unbelievably ugly things said about him all during his career. When he was with that church in Nutley making gold albums, something bad happened and he had to leave. He applied to every church in the State of New Jersey as a choir director and NOT ONE would take him because his reputation went before him. He moved to California as far away as possible. I guess he learned how the Catholic church operated to protect predators. It's sad how he took Christ and religion out of gospel music and added jazz and blues into some of the simple songs sung at country Baptist churches, used jazz musicians, and it was considered creative. Time has proved otherwise. Crossover gospel is just that ------- it crossed over from gospel music to something else. It's very unfortunate that this period of gospel music will have a big hole left in it because every gospel music project he was involved in was tainted with almost unspeakable scandals that it can't be looked at too closely. He makes some of the outed Hollywood predators of today look like saints. Forensic psychiatrists will tell you that there is no cure or rehabilitation for this type of person. This video presented in a palatable manner some of the issues for which there is documentation from lawsuits after his death but where there is smoke there is fire.

I think we need to stop trying to characterize people as demons and devils. The bible clearly says, "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". We love to cast down people whom God loved and Christ died for. I am not saying Cleveland's lifestyle wasn't sin. However, God is clear in his word. If we repent, God will forgive. We love to put people in hell as if we have that power and knowledge of God's relationship with the individual. If we make it to heaven, we are going to be shocked at who is there and who is not.

This is why I don’t worship pastors …. Currently, the AA community have super popular pastors. As long as you’re human, you’re flesh, which sins and asks for forgiveness. Pastors shouldn’t be worshipped it is Abba Father that gets ALL the glory

I found his song God is a few months ago, I like the song, but I promise you everytime it’s something I shouldn’t watch or listen to God reveals it. I never knew who he was, just listened to the song. This morning this came across on my KZread his story. I can’t do sinister! These days I barely have anyone to listen to anymore. Seems they’re all wolves. I pray Cece don’t change, I also listen to Shekinah glory say yes.

I always loved his music and still listen to it daily.

My mom mentioned this one day when i was a teenager and stopped me from singing and listening to him. I had no real idea what she was talking about at that time. Just always stuck with me and obeyed even till this day. Now i see why!! I guess she didn't go into it much because she may have felt guilty for letting us listen to him after finding out his dark side😮

Chile, ya'll still acting so shocked and appalled that there are gay people in the church. Most of your gospel legends (men and women) are gay. You love their singing, playing, directing, compositions, arrangements, AND preaching! Get over it, already!!

I think people overlooked his dad’s headstone. James was born in 1931. His father was born in 1918……..nobody else caught the age difference??? His dad was 13 when James was born…..

This is really daunting. I've heard these rumors before, but it still makes you feel some type of way. These church leaders are doing a lot of harm to their followers. I just recently heard that allegedly Rance Allen was gay, bi-sexual as well. Non the less this was a great documentary.

He chose a LIFELONG lifestyle in complete 💯💯💯 conflict to our Holy God. So what he could sing because he only could sing because God gave him the gift. He despised GOD, he loved his flesh so so so much more than he did GOD if at all. Frankly anyone with a voice can sing and he did. How can we say we love God when we continue waddling in sin. Ugh 😣

God can use anybody to spread His word. I can vouch for that. That doesn't mean I got to follow that person and believe everything they say. The Bible tells us to try the Spirit by the Spirit. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. That means use the Holy Spirit as a guide to tell us whether or not what they're speaking lines up with what the word of the God says. With that being said, Eddie Long preached a sermon one time that delivered me from a situation that I was going through. That was 13 years ago. Heard it while I was driving my car. I can tell you exactly where I was at and where I was going. On another occasion, I met Eddie Long and he walked right by me and didn't even speak. With that being said, I still will tell anybody what Eddie Long preach that day while I was driving, delivered me. It had me shouted in my car at that red light. Once I let that mess go, I have been blessed ever since. With all that being said, God is a man that He cannot lie. God gives gifts to people. It's up to the person to determine how to use that gift. We all got to stand before Him and answer for the things we did and didn't do.

He worked with Billy Preston ? Billy Preston, as talented & gifted as he was...he had serious sexual issues ! Pairing J.Cleveland with B.Preston had to be very promiscuous at some point !
