@@whatwouldiknow1759 This stuff still happens today, but in different ways. It is a media attitude particularly in the US and Britain. They are always attacking women for being too sexy, they don't want to allow it in our programs. This interviewer is just doing what he's being told to do, it's the huge media companies that push for it. Not a sign of the times since it still hasn't gone away.

To watch this made me so uncomfortable. Helen Mirren pulled it off brilliantly. But the way the interview was conduucted is horrible. And this was supposed to be entertainment! It's just sleazy. Parkinson is so sleazy.

Maybe not as publicised as this interview or the Meg Ryan interview but no less uncomfortable was the interview with Woody Allen. Where Parkinson was inquisitive about the entertainer's private relationship with his step daughter. Allen was open but became agitated when Parkinson over ran the questions Where Allen reacted and felt Parkinson had a morbid interest in the subject

She played with Parky & he fell for it! She was deliberately coy, tantalising & made him interview like a sleezy middle-aged man, not uncommon a few decades ago in society. Dropping the dress strap leaving it until the end of the interview? Most likely yes.

Actually this was the common attitude of much of the British and US mainstream media, this guy isn't making up his own questions. Seriously, the US media spent a lot of time in the 80s and 90s explaining to us why their actresses couldn't be too sexy or topless because the audience would be too distracted. They still spout this nonsense today. She is a perfect example of how a sexy woman can be a great actress and this is not uncommon throughout mainland Europe. It is a distinctly Brit and Hollywood line of crap that they have been presenting to us for decades.
