Interesting as well that the Zephyrus G15 in Moonlight White is my favorite laptop the same as Dave. I was also on the verge of buying a Lenovo Legion in Stingray White back then. White gaming laptops just bring that clean and calm feel.

The teal spray paint was Wow that took it to a whole different level

The keyboard is really good though, idk why Dave hates it, I 100% think he's wrong when he said most people would prefer a different key switch; I think most would prefer this keyboard over the normal scissor-switch style.

Hey Dave! I bought my Asus Strix Scar 2 based on your review back in 2019. Still using it till this day and its going strong. The full sized RTX 2070 is still a beast!! Thanks man.

I want to see the 17 inch version of this laptop reviewed because it comes with a few significant perks: Dedicated Number Pad Larger Screen Better cooling Which are all particularly important for me as someone who has to spend about half their time or more away from home, but still needing an incredible machine for both working and gaming.

That key may be "Gimmicky", but it adds a sense of occasion. If the settings can be tapped to resolution, monitor, and overlooking settings then it's a fun way to switch between mobile and docked at home.

The addition of top and bottom black bars does prpvide a cinematic experience dave ngl

"teal" spray paint , that matters

"When your are right handed ... you have to route the cable from the left on the back of the device" I think its a great feature to have ports on the left, because you can have your mouse closer to the right without getting the cable on your way every time you swipe your mouse to the left. Ive had a laptop with usb ports only on the right side and I was hating it.

For a while I was going back and forth between this model and the RTX 3080 ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE. In the end I went for the Zephyrus Duo due to the better thermals and I don’t regret that decision at all. It arrived on Tuesday and it’s an absolute beast!!!

I watch these for the soothing voice of tech review, it's like tech yoga for my aural synapses.

I bought the Strix after I returned the G15; the Zephyrus had too many QC issues.

I've been using g531 for a while now but this updated 2021 version got me, specially that tactile keyboard 🤤

I love how Dave has just started dunking on everyone by spray-painting things teal. As a hobbyist/maker, I approve of DIY personalization like that.

I'm happy that ASUS finally almost returns to a normal keyboard layout, at least on this particular model, despite leaving 1 key space between the right ctrl and left arrow. And that PrtSc, I prefer having it on the top row instead.

Been waiting for this, I got my 3070 strix scar 15 the day it came out, I love the keyboard, feels like no other laptop and I love it. I went with the 3070 and the 5800h because no1 thermals, aswell as the same TDP between the two chips, the 5900HX has overclocking potential but with the thermal limitations of this laptop, I would never take advantage of it. Also the keyboard is not as loud as you might think from this video, it’s definitely louder since it has a click, but it’s not crazy loud like MX blues or razers greens or purples. All and all, this is the best gaming laptop I’ve ever had, and the screen is phenomenal (1440p). That is also why I wasn’t sold on spending more for the 5900HX because games are less CPU dependent at this higher resolution. Another thing he didn’t touch on in this video are the speakers. The speakers are PHENOMENAL for a gaming laptop, even rivals my 16 inch MacBook Pro, since there is downward firing speakers aswell as speakers faced towards you under the screen.

Agree. As an owner of the last of a batch of the Ryzen 7 5800H RTX 3080 (8 GB vRAM model), I love it. If it had a MUX switch, it would have been perfect.

Also got rid of the stock RAM, as while I had an Intel Wi-Fi card instead of the more recent models with the janky MediaTek cards, the RAM was that s**tty x16 stuff that I needed to get rid of, so I upgraded it to 64 GB.

Actually the ROG Strix SCAR series was named after FN SCAR rifle because it used to be an FPS focused gaming laptop :D

98C on CPU.. After a year it's probably gonna trhottle like hell anyway.. My Zephyrus is a little over 1.5 years old now and on really intensive tasks it goes all the way down to 2 Ghz CPU clock wich just makes it trash as it heavily bottlenecks the GPU. I'm never getting a gaming laptop again.

Well, nowadays gaming laptops are considered a high-yield profitable investment with several months until ROI (a.k.a. the last way how one can get hold of a new GPU), so it makes sense that you can't afford it as a part of "expenses"; just like you how you wouldn't purchase stock market ETF indexes for the purpose of spending money :)
