Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) Review

Ғылым және технология

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) is a laptop that looks to take a top-notch portable device to an even higher level. It’s also part of an emerging 14-inch lightweight, yet graphically powerful, laptop trend meaning it has some stiff competition.
Windows laptops have long strived to take on the MacBook Pro, but rarely can they offer such a complete package, even with the advantage they have on the gaming front. However, improving technology on the Intel and Nvidia side of things are allowing machines to edge closer and closer.
Asus isn’t claiming this device is some sort of MacBook Pro-killer, especially with gaming performance as its priority. But, the suite of specifications, features and design suggest it could very well have a good go at Apple’s 14-inch Pro. It also has contenders like the HP Omen Transcend 14 and Lenovo Legion Slim 5i 14 to contend with too. Let’s see how it fares.

I just got it. It can edit 4K videos, struggles at 4K60 though, which is what I mostly edit these days, a lot of lagging. You can render out the timeline to get smoother playback, but who really wants to do that? The 16" M3 Pro MacBook Pro does this without a sweat, this thing probably good for 30fps in 4K. But the ROG Strix from 2017 could edit 4K in 30fps too, with a GTX 1070, in 2024 with better and more advanced graphics cards, you'd figure a RTX 4060 could do that. Just unfortunate that only the MacBook Pro can do this though, but then, I also threw 36GB of Memory into that system too for a $400 upgrade, which is pretty stupid in my opinion that Apple charges that for an upgrade, if they know people are buying that for editing, maybe they could just put it in there standard on the M3 Pro. It does come standard on the M3 Max, but its more money. It might be too, I shoot from a dedicated camera, which makes files huge, that strains systems.
