Email them and 2-4 DAYS later you might get a DUMB reply that has nothing to do with your issue. Chatting with them is also useless. On hold while the check, they have to escalate and say wait 24-48 hr for another bad reply.

They are actually cheaper than others. I always buy barebone NUC and add my own RAM and SSD so that I can get better specs for less. As I am currently in a nightmare case (see my June 4/24 post), I am evaluating options from HP/Dell but those will cost me at less $500 Cdn MORE and their specs are not as good. ie I can get NVMe drives @ 7000Mb/sec 1TB with 2x16G DDR5 @ 5600MHz for $500 less than a HP/Dell model with 1/2 the ram and 1/2 the storage and neither will quote on the speeds, so one knows they won't be top of the line.

For the NPU benchmarking, would you consider the output speed of a locally running Large Language Model? Specifically, you could test the Tokens per Second (TPS) speed of a specific model using a consistent prompt. For example, you could use Llama3 with the prompt “Why is the sky blue?” and measure the speed of various machines. Ollama (a popular open source project) is good for this and can be setup on Linux in just a few minutes. It also prints out the TPS for benchmarking. I bet there’s a whole community of people who would be interested in these benchmarks. Please thumbs up if you agree :)

I've discovered your feed and wanted to say, fantastic insight here . I'll understand if you don't want to bother to respond but I'm hoping you can give me some direction. I've been really leaning toward buying a mini. This one seems to have great processing power and I can't quite mentally compare it to Beelink SER7 or the newest SER8 I'm currently working with a Dell 7730 I7-8850h processor with 32G Ram and 8G Vram. I don't really play a lot of games, Tears of the Kingdom would be about the highest demanding of resources and from a Video Resolution perspective I am ok with 720p type res although I just bought a 3840 x 2160 monitor. My Two main applications where I'm finding that my system is , by my perception, slow is video-editing, converting, upscaling etc and the other issue is Video translation using Whisper AI. Depending upon the Model you choose 8Gig Vram is not sufficient and causes really slow processing time. For example if I set my "Model" to Large (which yields a more accurate translation) the time to translate that 1 Hour video will be about 8 Hours on my system. I would have expected better but maybe I am overestimating the impact of the 32G DDR-4 Ram and the I7 Processor. When I go to Task manager during either of these processes there doesn't seem to be that much of a drain of my resources but ultimately the speeds are very slow. Which brings me, in a very circuitous way, to you. I have really been considering a mini or even possibly a full-sized PC. Can you, if you're willing, give me some direction. THanks in advance and if not, thank you for the great, insightful, and well-paced videos..

This badly needs an oculink egpu comparison, with something like a gtx 1060 3gb / gtx 1650 4gb or an RX 6400 (any gpu in the ballpark 3400+- timespy score). That intel iGPU might be massively holding this tiny pc back!

Added to all the Asus stuff going on, why chose Intel anyway when AMD runs circles around them in ALL areas for these mobile chip designs. Both single core, Multicore and gaming is better with the 8845HS. It may not be a super upgrade from the 7000 series but still better than what Intel has. Overall its just a better product all the way.

Why? Intel plays very dirty behind the scenes, locked in contracts, purchasing rebates, very anti-competitive stuff. Let's not forget those suspect tech specs as well.

asus new product is either fail after 1year or have random glitches as a year or use cheap cap cheap manufacturing cheap on everything just to get more profit margin or fail due to too aggresive OC which voids warranty claims and blame the customer why turn on those setting
