I've been listening to Astrud since I was 15. I'm now 68. She never gets old. Every time I hear her it's like the first time: fresh, full of life, enchanting and beautiful.

I remember being a child in Mexico City in the 60's. On Saturday mornings my parents would play her music 🎶 non stop on the record player all morning long,,,,we had a very cosmopolitan house. We would also hear, Sergio Mendes, and the Tijuana brass as well. My God. Vietnam was raging, and the Cold War was in full swing, but this was an escape from from a harsh world. RIP 🙏🏻 astrud

What a unique voice, beautiful! RIP Astrud😢, the first time I've ever heard her voice, "The girl from Ipanema" I was 16 yrs.old I fell inlove with the song and immediately I searched who was the singer, and when I heard her song in Portuguese/Brazilian samba song I was hooked, now I'm 65 still love it..forever. She's No.1 of my favorite Brasilian singer, ever! I never had a chance to see her concert.

Astrid was the best! The finest Brazilian song stylist, hands down. Was a bit disappointed, I couldn't hear her fabulous version of 'Wave'. Bravo and RIP, Ms. Gilberto!!!

Many thanks for the reminder, I was captivated at a young age by Astrud Gilberto back in the 60's. So much so I was able to see Claudia Villela in Santa Cruz, California decades ago (Abba Verde). This gentle music is sorely missing.

A voz mais meiga, doce, singela, da MPB. Assim como Nara Leão, ela não tem a malícia, o poder, os temperos ou a extensão de voz das cantoras brasileiras que surgiram nos anos 60 e após. Talvez exatamente por isso a sua voz permanece como uma exceção, quase uma curiosidade, por sua naturalidade, doçura e meiguice e é muito agradável de se ouvir.

I always loved her singing AND her songs, ever since I was a kid 50 plus years ago, but hearing some of these tunes makes me realize anew and more comprehensively what an extraordinary artist Astrud was. Planet Earth was very lucky to have had her here.
What an absolute loss for the world and also for the "Bossa Nova" world as well. RIP Astrud and sing happy songs of Corcovado to the Angels Ma'am!!!!!!!!!!

なぜか昔から、この中の"フライ・ミー・トゥー・ザ・ムーン"のバース・パートのアンニュイなスキャットがたまらなく好きだ。 私にとっては随一の曲である。 A.ジルベルトといえば、かつて所属していたエレキギター・サークルで一番仲の良かった友人のことを思い出した。 ことの経緯は記憶にないが、彼が小学生の時に来日したA.ジルベルトと一緒にタクシーに乗ったことを自慢気に話していた。 60年も前のことであるが、ラッキーな少年ファンだったのだろう。 残念ながら、その彼も既に鬼籍に入ってしまった😟🥺

冒頭のスキャットは他の歌手や演奏者で聴いたことはないワン・アンドオンリーのものではないだろうか。 後にCTIレーベルを興すヴァーブ・レコード時代のプロデューサーであったクリード・テイラー。それに超一流どころのアレンジャーであるドン・セベスキーやクラウス・オガーマンらの極めて耳ざわりの良い音作り。後進のプロデューサーである、ソニー・レスターらに影響を与えたことは十分考えられる。 ジャズ関連の音楽のバブリーな時代の幕開け期だった。 蛇足ながらタクシーに同乗できた友人は音楽関係者の子供ではなく、単なる熱烈な可愛いファンであり、A.ジルベルトの目に止まっただけだと聞いている。

I just read about Astrud's life. I am very sad to read what I just read about the saxophonist who I admired, but who was a perfect jerk. Joao Gilberto has at least the excuse of autism. Thank you Astrud for what you did, stay in peace 😢

Me chame de purista, mas músicos que cantam uma música intrinsicamente brasileira em outra língua me cai como a maior traição cultural ( e demonstração de pobreza ) que alguém pode cometer. Sepultura cantar TRASH METAL em Inglês eu até entendo. É como um Americano compor Opera em Italiano. Faz sentido. É uma forma de respeitar a essência do estilo e sua origem. Mas o caminho contrário, é de doer. PS.: Adoro a voz dela, e as músicas em português são maravilhosas em todos os aspectos, talvez por isso mesmo me doa tanto ela as traduzir. PPS.: Um Americano cantar Samba em Inglês eu entendo, Um Brasileiro cantar Blues em Português tb não tem nada de mais. PPPS.: Ainda mais pq o Inglês tem um sotaque bem forte Brasileiro. PPPPS.: Só minha forma de ver. Não quero ofender ninguém.
