Wow! That’s a horrible job removing the paint from those lovely tiles. Your gettting there Rols. Well done
That cushion has helped you both quite a bit on your beautiful property
So many uses for duck tape. Red green would be so proud.

There are some really gorgeous antiques in the Chateau, I can't wait to see them put in the right places and in all their grandeur!!

Roles I love how you think of every way to minimize dirt and dust. But I am really impressed how this sanding is turning out. Great job. You’re the first of the chateau renovators to actually keep the beautiful tiles. Well done.

If you do a little research you will likely discover that fireplaces in these beautiful château buildings were very often not centered in rooms as a result of chimney placement. It never stopped them from paneling walls.
Duct tape! Who knew? LOL. Maybe you can get them to sponsor your channel. As for the rewiring bit... best ever. I have some old lighting I need to rewire and this was best ever demonstration of techniques to do job that i have seen to date. Thanks for that. Keep up the great work and wonderful programming.
What a difference in the tiles, I don't like red at all - so dark. Well done on the duct tape, great idea.
Either method is going to take an investment of time, but the results are going to be lovely! Nice job on the wiring, Suzie!

@@chateaucitadelleducavalierThat’s a good point because I know Duct tape is expensive. Good choice on the cost effect! 👏🏼👏🏼
The tiles look so much better lighter great job thanks for sharing ❤
Rols, you are a trooper.....what a great job you have done!! Suzie, a renovation really does cause a disruption in one's home. Hopefully this floor won't take too long. Great job though!!
I love how the tiles look after you sand them! Of course it’s gonna be a small fortune in sanding pads 😅.But many less if you first do the tape. Very clever Rols😊
Your Duct tape trick is going to save a lot of time and mess. Brilliant idea 😊
What a job! The tape removal was very interesting! I remember another KZreadr who had several floors of terracotta tiles and also did the stand up method when they were too weary yo kneel! But it seems they used a wire brish very carefully, then the sander. They turned out absolutely beautifully!!
Perhaps use a hairdryer to make the tape adhesive more effective?
i agree with you for the bed position , lovely bed 🤩 , we also have now 2 like those , the ducktape is a great idea , you got most of now 👍 all the best Yves x

Rol's that was a job and a half but it's going to be a lot better and I agree with you Suzie the bed on the wall as you go into the bedroom so you can see the beauty of the bed, take care and see you both next time 💕🌼🤗
The gaffa tape is a really clever tip thanks, good luck on your adventure.
Perhaps place a stack of books on the taped areas to enhance the adhesive affects for removal.
Good ole duck tape! Lol so many uses for it! I agree definitely will save you some time and elbow grease! What technique found by "accident". I like the way you have planned to decorate the room Suzie. It's makes sense to put the beautiful bed there where you can see it's beauty! Great think of the view too!
Maybe you could rent a floor sander. That would be faster and better for the knees.

Very interesting. I subscribed and gave a thumbs up! Best wishes from Canada.
Duck tape is good for everting… Keeping things together and ripping things off 😂
The floor looks great! So much faster! Maybe one more pass. I Wonder if a big stand up floor sander would work even better. Anyway much faster and will be nice and clean afterwards❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was just going to suggest the same thing for footie projects. Rent a floor sander. It'll go much quicker, and they'll only have to hand sand the corners and edges.

@@chateaucitadelleducavalier there are 300 throughout France. You can hire all kinds of machinery etc.
Thats back breaking work but it looks great. Using a pillow for your knees is very smart.
If soda worked, I'd try something more powerful. I've been recommended a stripper consisting of half lime putty and half linseed oil soap by volume. It needs to be rinsed well and neutralised with vinegar afterwards. I haven't tried it but the soap alone is pretty powerful. For one painting project I had a mix of soap and water in an old paint tin that had seen pretty much everything - water-based paint, oil paint, epoxy rust-inhibiting primer, you name it. I left the mix in the tin over night to store my paint brush and the next day the tin below the water line was clean metal.
Well, the sanding is going well. I feel for you ,I did the same thing to my oak floor that never been finished, my grandpa never did anything with the floor but but carpets over it . It took a week to sand And a day to tong oil it looks great. And so does yours😊
BEST
Brilliant discovery 🎉

I get the feeling that you could probably peel the tape of nearly immediately, after pressing it down so well. Not sure though. A big job whichever way you do it. Best wishes.

Maybe with a wire brush attachment for the drill for the grooves and deep spots?
Rols great idea you confused me earlier but still 👍👍both.Suzie good job with the light fixtures.
If you use the tape to lift off the paint, then perhaps what is left can then be sanded and not use so many sanding discs as just sanding the tiles does. The room is coming together nicely.

I was impressed with the sanding! 😂😂😂 the duct tape! How much will that cost? Versus sanding? And will the cost to benefits ratio work for you 🤷🏻♂️ I this adhesion is the key to this, a J-roller would be excellent to helping you out right now. Very intrigued with this development! 🤔

the way your doing it is crazy, why are you not using a diamond floor grinder
Once you've cleaned the tiles will you go back and try to wash them with your concoctions to clean between the tiles or have you been able to get between them too? They are going to look so good once striped and I'm guessing sealed
Can’t you rent or buy a stand up sander? Like they refinish wood floors.

We've tried the sander, go through to many pads and too messy, this is a much quicker, cleaner way, doesn't need to be perfect, that's the nature of this place, thank you for watching ☺
Try something like a rolling pin over the tape, it may make the tape adhere more to the paint. I don't think you would need to wait. Also, can you use a piece of tape more than once?

@chateaucitadelleducavalier

Sorry about the confusion earlier, not sure what happened there. As far as the window is concerned we were just being respectful to our neighbours, the sander and the vacuum working together was very noisy, hence the ear defenders. Also, no power tools during the French lunchtime so had to keep the window shut.
Your teeth are not going to thank you for all the duck tape you’re using! Please use a pair of scissors to cut the tape🇨🇦🇨🇦
