After like 35 + years of waiting I finally got the chance to play Asteroids Deluxe again. I just bought what's called an Arcade 1 up "partycade" (tabletop) Asteroids that includes an Asteroids Deluxe. It was only around $180 and it's great, plays just like I remember, but it doesn't have the cool dreamlike background, it's just black. But that's a very small grievance, it is so much fun to play. Last time I played it I was in my teens so I'm shaking off the rust, but it's just like riding a bike.

Hats off to you! I could get ships clear across the screen on original asteroids, but asteroids deluxe is way harder for sure. I couldn't even come close to this. You are the man!!!

awesome. i am playing this one alot my high is at 200k and progressing as i practice. i am 50 yrs old and still turn over robotron, defender, asteroids at my age. want to turn over ad one day for sure!

Awesome This is a great game that never took off because most people got spoiled and couldn't play forever on a quarter. Deluxe Space Invaders had the same problem

I don't know why, but for some reason, I thought this was in color.

Atari's Space Duel was in color. Instead of asteroids there were various shapes. Two people could play at the same time.

I'm thinking it was version 1 set to hard difficulty. You can play the game at the highest level with any version, they have slight differences but seem to max out on the difficulty at different times depending on score.

Interesting bug with the bonuses above 990k. It looks like it gets confused and started awarding extra men for every shot, as the bonus wrapped before the score did? Hard to see what the bonus values we're doing clearly though. Great play though. Thanks for posting.

Yes, there are similar bugs in Defender and Burgertime as well. The difference here is that you can see how the glitch works by watching the bonus values on screen increase with each hit. I would recommend this website for the nitty-gritty details: donhodges.com/defenders_extra_life_bonanza.htm

This is a pretty old video, if I'm not mistaken. I even remember seeing it on Google Videos where it was initially uploaded due to length. There might not be any better quality version at all.
