French lawmakers are set to debate a new text on assisted dying in France, a parliamentary marathon that could last until the summer of 2025. France currently allows deep sedation but medically-assisted suicide remains illegal. It is a topic that is deeply divisive in France; to find out why, we went to meet patients and caregivers who campaign for medical aid in dying and those who are opposed to it.

I’m not old….I have seen people taken from their own homes to care homes..
Belgium is ahead of the curve on this one, thankfully. 🇧🇪
Everyone needs the ability to decide for themselves what end-of-life they want. Palliative care, no matter how caring, is not for everyone, and is only available to a few. I agree with Switzerland, and I might have to go there someday. It gives me great peace of mind knowing they are available. (American)
On the other hand, how much a health insurance (and a government who wants to decrease its deficit) would pay to promote this law?
it should be a human right to exit on your own terms. I do not want to live in frail care when i am old, i want the freedom to end it comfortably.
The state not giving citizens many of the other freedoms but making a display of helping them self delete tells you all you need to know about your government...
