I didn’t finish installing my sprinkler and you’re giving the best instructions I’ve ever ever seen. Great job.

You are welcome. I am pleased with mine. Right now, it has been turned away from the garden and aimed at the ground hog's entrance way to under my shed. It's a young one and apparently looking for a place to establish a new home. IMHO, the directions are not so great and will set you up for failure/poor performance.

You must write product instructions for a living? Probably the most in-depth and correctly worded setup video I have ever seen for this sprinkler. Nicely Done!

Thanks for the compliment. I am still scratching my head wondering why orbit doesn't provide better instructions, it's a decent product if used properly. It took some time to figure out how to effectively set it up. I thought I'd share what I'd figured out.

It was time consuming to put the video together, for sure the directions are not good. I had to figure it all out anyway, might as well save everyone else a lot of time. So far, neither Melvin or I have gotten an accidental dousing.

these yard enforcers are the only thing to deter garden munching critters. I have used many stinky sprays, granules, soap, human hair, etc. They may hold their noses, but go ahead and eat the same day I sprayed. After 14 years of war, these work. I have fully grown hostas, hydrangeas, flowers. Do I get soaking wet once in awhile? Yes. Do you have to have really good hoses? Yes. Do you have to turn them off when going on vacation. Yes. (you don't want to have a huge water bill because one of your hoses split). Worth every penny. I now have six. Anyway, this was a good refresher course on using the devices.

So far the deer have not visited that I know of. There are fences around the house, but they can jump the low one and all it takes is one hungry energetic deer to enter the yard. When one does make the effort, that's it for the garden. I read a lot of reviews before I bought this one and it looked to be the best one. I think a lot of people just don't understand how to properly aim the sensor. For sure the instructions are not much help. You would think orbit would show the pattern. I suppose their engineers/designers don't know much about the motion sensors. I turn the water on every evening when Melvin comes in for his 10pm curfew and off in the morning. I don't think he got sprayed yet. Thanks for commenting and watching the video.

Melvin says Hi to you! So far, I don't think he has been sprayed. Though I noticed he does not walk in front of it. As far as cats go, Melvin is the smartest cat I've ever have served. You don't own them! You serve them.

I need to have the spray lowered to hit dogs that come into my yard and not go above them. Can you please show what affect adjusting that dial on the top has on lowering the stream towards lower target?

To lower the spray, you can turn the dial so that the shield on top of the sprinkler head lowers (off the top of my head that is towards the minus sign) or you can tilt the entire sprayer so that it angles more towards the ground. If the ground is not soft, you'll have to take it out of the ground to reposition it. If the ground is hard and you try to push it to a different angle you might break it's stake, it's just cheap metal. My experience is that changing the angle of the sprayer is the most effective way to adjust the height of the spray.

There is fencing around the yard, so they don't bother to jump the low fence often, but when they do, they totally destroy the garden. It's going to be a waiting game until some of them think it's worth the effort to jump the low fence.

So far he hasn't been gunned down by the sprinkler. Melvin has a 10pm curfew. When he shows up to come in for the night, I turn the water on at the spigot next to the door. I turn the water off in the morning when Melvin goes out for his morning patrol of the neighborhood.
