I've played all Assassin's Creed up to Valhalla. I've really enjoyed the underlying Pieces of Eden and how history ties into it. Also, I think Eivor was the closest thing to a brute with various weapons we got so far

My take is that Yasuke should've been a non playable character. Not because he's a black dude in Japan, but because it would've been better for AC both story-wise and gameplay-wise. Story-wise AC has had real life events and characters connected to the story. Would've been interesting to follow that story just from Naoe/Assassins' point of view. And gameplay-wise some recent AC games (valhalla and odyssey) had lot less stealth. So Shadows could've been a more stealth based game with just a ninja protagonist

@@askariali6039 simply from judging previous AC games lol. Ninja makes lot more sense than Samurai for AC. They added Samurai just to attract more people. I'm not even a hater of new AC games. They're all enjoyable but you can't deny some of them feel a bit non-AC like most of the time. Japan was an opportunity to make a game with a more classic AC style and feel, with the focus on Shinobi. But I'm still interested to see how they tackle this regardless

nobody is mad that it is a black character or even that he wasn't a real samurai and was just a retainer. people are annoyed because every assassins creed game had a character native from where the game took place, but once it is Japan they went with someone who wasn't Japanese or even from Japan. A lot of people, especially Japanese men wanted to play as a Japanese samurai. I'm probably still going to get the game once I get all the games I currently already want but it is still disrespectful to make every game with a MC from where the game is but not for Japan.

You do realize alot of people are not mad because he's black, it's because he's not asian? Western media has a long history of neglecting, erasing, or poorly representing Asian men. The AC series already has 2 Black protagonists, AC3 DLC with a Black woman, and AC Black Flag DLC with a Black dude. AC Chronicles China also has an Asian woman protagonist. Well the only complaints I’ve seen that I think are valid is that all the protagonists from the previous game are ethically from the place the game is set in and maybe the only assassin Creed game to be set be Japan is about a black guy instead of a Asian guy but it doesn’t matter anyway it’s Ubisoft making the game so probably gonna be mid, I wouldn’t care at all if yasuke was in the second game set in Japan as the protagonist, a dlc protagonist or in the game as a side character.

It makes the MOST sense for them to be there. What kind of ridiculous argument are you making? Who exactly do you think should have been the lead protagonist in that game? Because Africans aren't native to the Caribbean either, they were brought over there as slaves. The people who are native mainly died to European disease and it wouldn't matter anyway because they didn't sail the seas as pirates, Europeans did. The white guy in Last Samurai and Shogun also existed like Yasuke. But unlike Yasuke, those two made a significant impact in Japnese history which was depicted properly in those film and series. Miujin Anjin of Shogun even have a train station and a statue here in Japan because he achieved the Hatamoto rank. Jules Brunet (Tom Cruise) was discussed to us extensively in our history class. Yasuke only mentioned once as a Kocho of Nobunaga. Just one word in a sentence. That’s it. But Ubisoft portrayed him as a legendary samurai.

Yasuke was an actual Samurai. Nobunaga name him as such. Go do some actual reading. And he was Nobunaga's retainer, which makes him a Samurai, and he was granted estates and his own retainers. Know your own history.

Yes. Because the main character is a fictional person with a supporting cast of real people who have been embellished. Shadows has just that. Naoe, the fictional main character and Yasuke, the supporting co-main character based on sombody real but who's story has been embellished. Yasuke's story is that of an outsider being brought into a famously insular and strict society and earning renown, enough so that centuries later he's being depicted in media. The fact that he has an interesting story but not much historical significance lets the writers make the story they want instead of being restricted by what actually happened.

He was a retainer and body guard before late Edo period that is a samurai, as under Oda Nobunaga anyone who Fought or raised a weapon in his name would be considered a samurai, as back then the ranks where only 4 Shogun, Emperor, Daimyo, samurai, while most samurai did in fact have family names a lot of people did back then, only the lowest of the lowest peasants would not have a family name, now in late Edo period hideyoshi toyotomi, (the guy who raised to power for carrying around Oda Nobunaga sandals then after he got a upgrade he was allowed to carry a sword then boda bing bada boom he’s a samurai then from there he waited then Oda’s loyal men staged a coupe on the coupe over thrown Mitsuhide, then bam a peasant gained power as hideyoshi toyotomi, gaining a last name then he made it so there was now a caste system about some point towards the end of his reign hideyoshi toyotomi then put into place a strict caste system that you had to be born into a rank no climbing or falling this was put into place by Hideyoshi just before he died then fulfilled in full by Tokugawa, this ranking goes as listed highest to lowest Emperor, Court nobility, Shogun, Daimyo, Samurai, Peasant, Craftsmen, merchants, so if Yasuke was around in the Edo period then his title would have been stripped from him but if he was dead before the law was in place he would have died a samurai there for meaning that’s what he is since no one know when he died ima just assume he lived to the time they put the law in place there for mean today no he’s not a samurai but in a fictional Alternate universe that goes by the the same rules he would be a samurai and called as such in the time the game takes place now if the game goes on into the 1600s (which it might) then it would have to show his title being stripped from him, also incase it was lost by the time you reached the bottom Yasuke was a retainer and Bodyguard there for making him by Sengoku period laws a samurai at the time the game takes place but if the game goes to 1612 then it will have to see him get his title taken (which Akechi Mitsuhide already did when he took over Oda Nobunaga killing Oda (yes forcing someone to off them self is killing) he spared yasuke under one condition that Yasuke gave up his sword and would be out to death if he ever resisted, Mitsuhide then Hideyoshi took over Oda’s power and I already mentioned the rest I ain’t gonna start talking in circles

Just weird because I thought we nerds were all united under gaming. Yet people are upset because the developer is using a darker shader on these polygons in a fictional media. Alsongbad the game is good plays well and well developed story game then what's the problem? When I was playing a "white" polygon female killing robotic dinosaurs, or a light shaded Tomb Raider or thief treasure hunter called "Draaaaaaake"!! It didn't hurt me that the polygons main character/ hero was of farrer skin. I still played and enjoyed those games regardless. So why but hurt over these shaded polygons?! KMT

Also according to Japanese people, so much is wrong with the trailer, from Yasuke not holding his sword right to the architecture being straight up wrong, also one of the writers for this game writes love stories between grown men and boys, take that as you will.

Doubt that'll even be included in the game. At the end of the day it's a "game" a work of fiction. No body complained about killing robo dinosaurs, destroying gods or wiping out zombie hordes! As a Japanese, I’m not upset of Yosuke. I’m upset because of all the well known legendary Japanese samurai that they can use, they chose Yosuke to save Japan from feudal war. They can use Hanzo, Musashi or any distinguish members of any Ryu that really made an impact. It feel like our history is being overlooked.

Gotta erase that potential Asian male lead in western media and fetishizing asian woman for the million times I would love to play Yasuke if this game is a new ip instead of AC series And I say this as SEA guy who get even more less represent in any media in the world stage especially western media. I also personally think the hate is a bit too much but to be fair in every AC game each main character had the correct race of the location the game was based in like for the vikings game why wasn't there a black dude , for Rome why wasn't there an Asian dude for mirage why wasn't there a white main character so I just think people that have been asking for this game just rightfully want to see a Japanese guy play in Japanese based game simply since all the other protagonists from previous AC were rightfully correct in their culture and location.
