Another thing to note is that Jack, being god knows how many aborted kids, is still ultimately a child, albeit twisted and a little psychopathic. They are very easily influenced by their master, as shown with Reika being somewhat psychopathic and Jack being the same, and the Jack in Fate Grand Order being nothing but a kid that has an unhealthy obsession with going back into their mother's womb, very good surgical and combat skills because the player character is actually pretty damn normal.

Her information erasure skill isn't because she's an amalgam, but because her murders were never solved. Thus you lose any knowledge of her identity after her crime. Also, I don't know where you heard that she just loses some lives when taking damage, but I'm pretty sure that is not the case. If she is defeated, she reverts into a ball of vengeful spirits, which is sort of her last parting attack, but she can be defeated like other servants otherwise.

Well, not exactly that. At that point she lost her form so the situation was a bit different. The mass of children would've probably infested the whole area like a cursed wave, needing some exorcism. Jeanne is not the only one who could've done that, but in that situation yeah, everything was resolved mainly thanks to her

It is said in the typemoon wiki that jack's NP can be resisted by a servant with a high enough magic resistant skill. Since mordred has artoria's bloodline, which is dragon blood by the way, she should be safe since spells ranked A or above can only work on artoria. Maria the Ripper is only B rank at full power.

It was a big missed opportunity to not have jack try use her curse on Astolfo and then being confused, only to learn he’s a guy.

I was assuming that her back story went like this: At that time, the little girl's name was Maria and her father was the original Jack The Ripper (who had the appearance similar to Ripper from AC Syndicate, I don't know). But when her father died shortly afterwards, she took his name and mantle since she was as psycho as he was. So She used "Jack The Ripper" as her nickname from her father and her name with the title (Maria The Ripper) as her Noble Phantasm. And it would make sense for the Scotland Ward to never been able to catch the killer because no one would suspect an "innocent little girl" to commit those brutal murders. But as you can see, I assumed poorly.

Jack just wants to go back where she was at peace. I love how tragic her very existence is in the how and games. It makes her a likeable villain and my second favorite servant. You can't even blame her for how she is in the slightest since she didn't choose her path. Thanks for the amazing video!

I think you may be a bit off on the origin of the Information Erasure skill. The conceptual origin is from how witnesses of the 1888 Jack would never properly identify the killer, and how the mystery went unsolved for over a century. However, the Strange/Fake Jack has an ability that hides his identity by shapeshifting as well. So i think you are partially right.

Your talking about the one in fate strange fake right?

First, A-1 picture didn't do the character design of setting for Jack, the original novel did. Second, in another novel called "Fate Strange Fake", there is another Jack the Ripper appears, which is Berserker class and summon by a toy knife. (This "relic" is send with a game and Jack the Ripper is one of the game character, then a master mistook the knife for the real one, so he end up summon another version of Jack who has no idea he/she is, and his/her dream for holy grail is to find out who she/he is)

Except that Assassin Jack is the Real with a Capital R Jack the Ripper. Strange Fake Jack the Ripper is capable of assuming the form of anyone related to the Jack the Ripper legend, such as the victims, the investigators, the witnesses, the suspects, and the form of Assassin Jack. Which, iirc, greatly confuses Berserker Jack.

Nobody knew what Jack the Ripper exactly look like. Not even Scotland Yard was able to vaguely identified the killer. Jack's fate remains a mystery. For fate Universe it makes sense for possible scenarios that Jack can either be a woman or a bunch of kids.

True, in Fate/Strange Fake there is another Jack The Ripper and he is a Berserker, whoever this one is basically no one, not even he knows who he is, his wish is to find out who the real Jack The Ripper was, something similar happens with Robin Hood, in Fate/Extra the guy who we are seeing isn't the real one, it's just a guy who happens to fit the qualifications, every time a servant is summoned he is basically just something made to fit the qualifications, not the real one, like Vlad for example, he was never a vampire in real life but thanks to the Grail he ended up like this. Apocrypha's Jack isn't the real Jack, and neither the one from Strange Fake, and I'm hoping BerJack ends up finding out who he is so he can be the new Grand Assasin in FGO, because who is better to fit the title than the first serial killer in the world?

Dude, I just wanted know what her noble phantasm was, I didn't know she had a unique backstory that was METAL AS FUCK

They probably wanted to be different because Jack has been in so many fictional franchises already & even a spiritual, immortal Jack was in Shadow Man- where he's probably still around as his soul was bound to one of the dark souls which are indestructible. There he was an architect though had medical knowledge too, he built the Asylum for Legion. He'd been killing women to try to see their soul during dissection. They also had him identify himself as Springheel Jack, technically a cryptid that predated him, but he does a lot of high jumping & ceiling walking during the boss battle.

Given the chance I would want to let her/them get the life they never got (yes, I am aware it would probably take many lifetimes to appease the amalgamation of spirits residing in her). Instead they are trapped as Heroic Spirits in the "World" for all eternity. Never getting a chance to actually live any life at all. : /

It should also be noted that the reason Jack appears as a girl in Fate might be because in 2006 a very convincing theory that Jack the Ripper IRL was actually a woman: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g2ygqK6Mm9PWh5s.html I know a lot of people think the Fate franchise likes to just gender bend male characters to add more cute girls to their line-up (like Artoria) which might be the case, seeing how the Fifth Holy Grail War (Stay Night) would have only had two female servants and the Fourth (Zero) wouldn't of had any (Assassin was a group so doesn't count), but it isn't just that shallow. Artoria being female completely changed the dynamic of Lancelot's 'betrayal' in an interesting way.

From what I read the grail has multiple different jack the rippers of different classes embodying different parts of the legend and the reason it's like that is cause Jack's identity was never learned so the grail couldn't make a true manifestation for jack

Jack, the assassin who didnt get sidelined, forgotten, faked, or any other types of neglect. Truly the assassin we all deserved.

It sounds like he's actually interested in sharing the legends and powers about all the characters, not just the pretty ones. Which I agree. I just got done watching Merlin. But I also gotta know- What's the music from? Not just in this video, but the rest of them. It would be great for my D&D campaigns.

Ok, I was wrong. I criticized this Jack the Ripper for having nothing to do design wise with the suspected Jack the Rippers but this video convinced me that I was a little quick to judge. Its still a ridiculous reason just to fill the murder lolly requirement but I accept the explanation.

After watching the series, I feel Fate Apocrypha could have easily been 2 whole seasons. They have 14 servants and trying to do a backstory on each one in 25 episodes while keeping the plot line going is nearly impossible. Once watching this explanation, it made it a lot better to understand

James Lozon if you read the books jack didn’t find peace haha Atlanta’s rage was so to her being a god and having the ability to see what was happening to the children’s souls trapped in Jack, jonna condemned All 10,000 children to hell and in the book there is three pages of Atlanta’s view showing jacks body getting torn to shreds and souls being pulled out of her and being devoured by monsters Seeing this caused Atlanta to reject the grail her ideology was if 10,00 innocent children diserved a eternity it’s of pain and suffering with out being given the chance at happiness then she her self would reject the world like the children did

well if its 10,000 kids and Jack refers to everyone as “Mommy” i think what would make more sense is her wish would basically have all her spirits go back to their original mothers, not 1 single mother...and when ur the embodiment of kids that were aborted and didn’t get much of a chance to live life...thats kind of a reasonable thing to want, u have 10,000 kids all wanting to go home and be reunited with their parents

Question! My understanding was that the Grail was only supposed to summon "heroic" spirits up until Angra Mainyu corrupted it. That's why the masters were so surprised that caster from /Zero wasn't playing by the rules. However, isn't /Apocrypha an alternate reality where Ruler was summoned INSTEAD of Avenger in the 3rd war? If so, then the Grail shouldn't be corrupted and it shouldn't be able to summon evil spirits right?

I don't even watch this show, but this vid was very interesting even from just a perspective of learning more about the Jack the Ripper legend. Thanks. There is other version of jack that is a berserker but they can change their shape to anything they desire but their desire is known their name

A very common theme in Fate is the difference between the person/hero and the legend that is told of them. It can even go so far that the only thing that’s correct is their name

Gilgamesh LFX: Jack the Ripper, obviously. Benkei as well, since in the Fate-verse hero-Benkei was made up by the historical Benkei. And Sasaki Kojirou, Assassin from Fate Stay Night, says outright that he’s not the real deal, and has no ties with the legendary hero except for him being able to use their signature move. I’m not saying there are no connections, but that it can sometimes be a very flimsy one.

@@kevinchong5424 Jack do have connection with the legend. I don't know Benkei and False Assassin already mentioned in the VN itself that he's not the real Sakaki Kojirou.

Basically if you summon this Jack the Ripper, you win because she has a better version of Hercules Noble Phantasm and its just a passive abbility, as well as a better presence concealment abbility, not to mention a potential instant kill Noble Phantasm.

you never explained jacks reality marble type ability, where they bring their victims into their depiction of whitechapel back in jacks day

Jack the Ripper is a legacy servant, like Hassan and Robin Hood. Also, little Jack here was captured and sacrificed by magi, since when she was alive she was able to intuitively use magecraft to summon mist.

By far the best assassin so far only time she takes damage was when caught unaware. Keep in mind the Manga does better then a anime in portraying her like when she Jeane got stabbed she survived by using her noble phantasm while they basically left that out in the anime

you didn't talk about her reality marble ability. Where she send them all the England(of her time ofcourse) and can cause Psychological damage or brainwash someone(as seen in the show)

Jack the Ripper has the whole gender issue sort of like Chevalier D'eon. Nobody knows their gender, so it can be either. It's just that they decided to take a more unique twist on Jack this time, with her story being based on something less focused on.

Nope everyone is wrong, Artoria had trouble fighting Sasaki because Shirou is a Trashy mage, and he couldn't give enough mana to Saber, that degraded her stats by quite a lot, besides not being able to use her NP

Shirou gave her next to no mana, so she was heavily handicapped. And who Kojiro was highly skilled his stats were pretty low if I remember correctly.

8:13-8:30 Not quite. Being made up of 10,000 spirits doesn't give Jack extra lives. However, if they're fatally injured, the 10,000 spirits would be released and an illusion similar to a Reality Marble (a mental landscape overwriting the real world) will activate. This Pseudo-Reality Marble will look like Victorian London and the spirits that make up Jack will appear to whomever gets caught in it. This is NOT a Noble Phantasm, just an ability of the spirits, so don't blame him for not mentioning it. Spoilers Ahead: In Fate/Apocrypha, Archer of Red kills Reika which leaves Jack open to attack and after Archer kills her, the Pseudo-Reality Marble activates and pulls in Archer, Ruler and Sieg. They wind up in different places and the spirits show each of them visions of what happened to them. Ruler and Sieg are shocked, Sieg especially, while Archer is traumatized (she was also abandoned as a child in her life). Sieg receives advice from Reika (as far as I can tell, her spirit was pulled into the Pseudo-Reality Marble) in the form of harsh truths. Ruler tries to destroy the spirits (as a form of exorcism) and Archer tries to protect them. While Ruler succeeds in purifying them, Archer sees it as abandoning them and tries to attack but is scared off when the Pseudo-Reality Marble dissipates and Archer of Black and Rider of Black arrive.
