Mizoram has 3 interstate borders out of which they have dispute with Tripura and Assam; thanks to Tuivai river which is protecting Manipur. Assam has 7 interstate borders and have dispute with 4. Now calculate who is hegemonic and parochial. I leave it to you if you want to assign any weightage to area and population in arriving at who is more hegemonic.

There is a video evidence that shown that Assam police shot first using LMG.

Back in the early 2000,Ndtv team came to Mizoram to cover election and being a local resident,I had helped the reporter who was an Assamese along with the camera-man Sanjay Chakraborty from Guwahati,I translated for them voluntarily..but somehow when the news came out later,NDTV added their version of the news which was not what was translated...So,most news channels do not report the actual story..spoken from experience.but in those days,the reporters were to blame,but at present the News Channel is beginning to see the real picture beneath the surface level...:-)

No, but you will have to understand the frustration of the people who lost their land due to that night raid. Sadly most of the mainlanders I personally had discussions on this issue deflected away from the fact that Assam police crossed their side of the border, overpowered CRPF personnels (Neutral body) entered Mizoram's territory and started lathi charging her people. Most of them will igore this fact. It's a sad and unfortunate reality.

Better to cool down matters now. Otherwise we may see counter FIR lodged against Assam CM for sending his forces to forcefully challenge and capture the outpists of crpf post, Mizoram police and attacking citizens of another state. The situation has very little to do with the public but the mishandling of the situation by those in the seat of authority. Let the public of both sides not be carried away.

Mizoram was carved out of Assam as a Union Territory in 1972 and by 1987, it became a full-fledged state. The two states have sparred over this 164.6 km long inter-state border over the past, sometimes leading to violent clashes. The dispute stems from two notifications passed under British era: First, notification of 1875, that differentiated Lushai Hills from the plains of Cachar. Second, notification of 1933, that demarcates a boundary between Lushai Hills and Manipur. What are the present claims? Mizoram claims that the land is theirs is based on an 1875 notification, which came from the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1873. Assam for its part, claims that the land is theirs. It goes by a 1933 notification by the state government that demarcated the Lushai Hills, which Mizoram was formerly known as, from the province of Manipur. During colonial times, Mizoram was known as Lushai Hills, a district of Assam. What leads to these clashes? The border between the two neighbouring states is an imaginary line that changes with the natural obstacles of rivers, hills, valleys and forests. People of Assam and Mizoram have attributed the border conflicts to the differences over this not-so-clear boundary. Hence, often people living in the border areas cross over to the other side as they are not fully aware of the border demarcation.

@@chairmanwumao1768 , can a thief entering your home cry foul if you happen to beat him? Assam police entered under mizo boundary and was throwing their weight upon the common people. The same happens with Arunachal, and Meghalaya.

The Mizoram MP was right, the Assam Police did cross the border with huge numbers and fully armed. All the northeastern states are pointing at Assam but the national media are trying to pin this on Mizoram. Shame on them.

India is a union of not only states but union of religions, union of culture, union of languages, union of traditions etc. If anyone undermine this unity in diversity and try to dominate will destroy India. So, it is not the diversity but the supremacist ideology and ambitions of some people are the matter of concern.

Note these: It's basically the same thing. The only difference is "shall" and "will" change depending on the speaker (first person or third person). Both words imply an intended future action. The Assam police were wrong in this situation and Mizoram police had the right to fire back. But speaking solely of meaning, "shall" and "will" both imply intended future action.

@@Raez_XL "Shall" And "will" Are different... Will' can be used to say the future that will come for sure.. For instance : I will come over.. Shall is used for which is not sure..

The Police who will question that mizoram mp. Will have to answer why they let meghalaya electric poles down from Meghalaya soil
