After seeing Trenton & Heath do it so many times, it's interesting to see how someone without all the specialized equipment they have does it.

It would bee cool to see them do a video of cobblery with ordinary non cobblery tools.
Lug soles make EVERY boot look 1000% better.
Iron Ranger looks so good with a leather midsole.
I think you should do more like this. It would be pretty cool to put a lug sole on some of the sneaker and athletic shoes you tear apart. You have one of so many shoes just laying around.

Yeah I feel like he could get really experimental with the extra shoes he has lying around
My high school has us do cap stone projects, and i chose to make my own boots. I designed them completely from scratch all the way down to the lasts. Id say for a first attempt they turned out pretty good. The toe box turned out to be slightly too wide, but other than that there pretty cool. Thanks for the inspiration!
That's some solid amateur cobbling! You said exactly the two things I was thinking about, which was no shank and too much glue. Let the stitches do their share of the work. This is exactly the kind of stuff I've been starting to do on my own as well. It's so satisfying. I'd love to see you do more!
Ive been thinking about doing some personal cobbling, so this video was definitely interesting to me. Yes, we have some great channels that professional cobblers have, but seeing a rookie do this was helpful
I'd want to see you design and make an entire boot from scratch yourself!

I want him to see him put a boot sole on a sneaker upper
They should've done a lug sole version instead of the wedge sole version. Your boots look amazing!
@AlexanderMason1

they already have one dummy. This is the wedge sole version. That is the whole point. People wanted a wedge sole version of the iron ranger.
Right on! I'm working on my second pair of boots for my wife and at the longest stage of sewing the midsole and the welt together. I went with a Vibram 1757. I know it's not the most durable sole but at the frequency they'll be worn I think it'll be a great combo and they are WAY lighter than the 132 that was on there.
I like this kind of video more than the sneakers cut in half saga. Glad you still do other types of videos even if you get less views.

I think the construction of boots is more interesting but the sneaker videos have their place, even if I’m just buying comfy shit i want it to be with my money
This is the reason I'm considering buying a 1000mile wolverine with the lugs, rugged edition I think. I would love for you to cut that in half because I looked an I can't see anyone that has showed the layers on it like you do, great video

I looove how those boots look and I’m on the fence about purchasing them as well

Don’t they have a fiber board midsole instead of leather
@Trami-

@@minceraftfornite4334 idk that's why I'd like him to cut one in half so we can see. I've been meaning to call or get in touch with wolverine to find out but seeing is believing you know.

@@Trami- I own a pair of Wolverine 1000 mile boots in rust chromexcel with the leather sole. I watched a video by Nicks Handmade boots where they deconstructed and remade the 1000 mile original with their construction and saw that the materials used were not the greatest of all time, which is pretty unfortunate. Still great boots, and I love mine to death.
You did a seriously good job! For hand tools especially. Excellent job on the video editing as well. Love your content.
Yesterday I used my 10” bench grinder, sanded my NOS Teva sandals sole to match my foot shape. The sandals were to long for my feet. Turned out pretty good. Your boots turned out great. You should of added the triple ribbed shank and changed out the poron sole for a leather one.
Those boots turned out great! I would love to see more cobbling especially repairs. This video could have been and hour long and I would have watched the whole thing. I'm not big on skulls but I do want a boot tree.
I loved this video, Weston, so please do feel free to add more of these. It was very interesting and quite relaxing to watch, so thanks for your continued great content.
Love the way they turned out that is the way I want to do mine
Looks great. It would be interesting to see how it would turn out if you would have just sanded off the tread on the crepe soles and use them as a cushioned midsole and add the lug on the thread-less "midsole"
Definitely interested to see more cobbling videos.
I wish iron rangers were sold with these lugged soles, it looks sooo good.
You didn't use too much cement. I usually put two coats on leather because it will absorb much of the first coat. Just remember with contact cement that most important part is applying pressure. All the heat is doing is helping to dry it out as the solvents evaporate. Pressure is what makes cement adhere, hence the hammering and presses.
Yes I would love to see more videos like this it’s great to see and might help me or someone else in the future keep it up
They look SO MUCH BETTER!!!
The Iron Ranger looks SO much better with the new soles!!
That actually looks so much better
I really liked this video. I have been planning on doing my own boot resole at home. You made it look very doable

I like your name
I've never owned a pair of boots in my life but this was so good to watch
Looks good! I'm impressed. I did think that you were laying the glue on a little heavy after watching a ton of Trenton and Heath videos.😄 Totally missed the shank being left out!
The shots in this are super cool and detailed 👌👌👌
Hand stitched welt… the dedication
Those boots look awesome lugged. Good job!
I thought he was just fucking around when he had the "links in the description" pop up for the paper and sharpie, but he really had them down there. Good on you for covering all of your bases man
13:01 lol. Early on, I was like: hey, where's the shank?
Would be dope to see more cobbler videos like this and to see your skill progression with every pair
Great video & definitely do more of these. I know I’d like to see you bring back to life some of those thrift store finds. Y’all have awesome thrift stores in Utah.
Bravo! It came out awesome… The best part is you did it yourself… Well done!!
Full disclosure … I’ve never cobbled any, but hopefully will someday. I have watched maybe a few dozen videos the pro’s put on Utube. I gotta say though … this was the most entertaining, by far. Watching you resole your boots … definitely gave me a boost of confidence, that it’s doable, without all the fancy equipment. Good stuff … 👍🏼
Those turned out great! I want some
I love lugged outsole Iron Rangers!
Looks great! Those skills are improving!
I had my moc toes resoled with Vibram sierra tread. The cobbler used a foam midsole similar to the original sole, then glued the vibram sole to it. They look great, just as comfortable as ever and will last a very long time.
Some of the instructions used 'we' and it makes me feel like I'm helping! Very cool video to watch.
Yea I gotta agree with all these great comments. I'd love to see more of these with basic tools
This is really cool.
Excellent job my man
Good effort mate. I'm an amateur rebuilding a pair of boots at the moment and the mistakes you made are a lesson I won't have to learn the hard way! Hopefully my efforts work out half as well!
Awesome video!!!
Looks great! More videos like this. BTW, I love my Nicks/Rose Anvil boots.
Love it!!!
Amazing work, buddy
Dam! That turned out sweet!! I need my rangers like that.
That was smoooth 🙏 super good job
pretty cool! I really like the look of a heel rather than a wedge.
You did a better job resoling those boots than the actual cobbler I gave my boots to. I gave them a brand new pair of Iron Rangers and asked for lug soles. They removed the brand soles and replaced them with the identical type soles it already had and still charged me 135 bucks. Shoe Hospital in Houston
They look awesome fair play!!!
this was quite the enjoyable hypnosis
I enjoyed watching this
I really enjoyed this I hope to see more.
Nice to see you getting a watch! Im looking forward to your strap desins made of nice leather
Awesome boots man!!! ❤🎉
Hand sewn welt?? Color me impressed! Love these videos
That looks like a pretty rewarding hobby!
Looks damn good!! Great job.
Looks great.
Wish they had that option from the factory. Nice video
Nice work.
Sent my 8085 off to get lug soles put on mine, I finally get them back this coming up Sat after 9 weeks. Can’t wait to see what they look like now.
great video!
Wow that came out so nice I'm tempted to buy a pair to send to you.
Oh hell yeah! More vids like this too
Dope looking boot afterwards
Yeah this was really cool to watch. Would like to see more conversions from one outsole to another
You actually linked the Sharpie and Paper in the deception. Love it 😆
Very cool!
I caught the missing shank immediately! But it looks good considering some of the crude tools used. Well done!
Cool to see. Wish Red Wing would do it they way they use too. I just returned my Traction Tred Lites due to the paper thin nubuck splitting at the sides, near the ball of my foot, within 4 weeks.
Amazing video. Nope, I couldn't do it at all but it was so cool to watch.
Good work
Those boots are way better after you redid them. Good job
Incredible
Niiiiice!! I would try sanding that heel back a bit to move that heel strike at bit more forward for more comfort when walking?
Awesome, more please
Good job! You're right. thin, even layers of glue allways bond stronger! ;) And if you soak your sole leather the attachment, cutting, pre punching and sewing will be a whole lot easier! What you do is apply one layer of glue, let it dry, soak in lukewarm water for 10-15 min., wrap it in newspaper for bit, or just carefully dry it and then apply the second coat of glue. or if you have a bit softer leather you could just put some water on the grain side
Why replace the cork with new cork? The Boot hasn't been worn yet

@@wildcaughtfirewood1511 Bingo, the intention was to add a shank.
Those meatly lugs look a lot grippier than the white slab.
Nice work
Wish I could see a cut Corcoran 1500 Jump boots. When I was in the army, those were the most comfy boots I ever had. But as a heavy guy now, they just don't have the cushion. For everything above the sole of my foot, they are still the most comfortable I've ever worn.
I would love to see a pair of Origin Maine Boots cut in half. I have been looking at these boots for awhile and want to know if they are worth me switching brands (Thorogood). I am sure this has been asked before (if not well I am asking now). Keep up the great videos.

Nice Hamilton! I'm wearing the same watch right now.
well done!
Dude if Rose Anvil starts making boots, go public, I want stock
That looked awesome! Only other thing I noticed was the heel block angle looks a bit off. I'd love to see more videos like this
Wau! Looks great!
Nice job man yes more
thanks for providing that link to the Sharpie, those things are really hard to find, lol.
very interesting! would be interesting to see repairs of worn out boots like White's or other well made boots
I really want to do this to my iron rangers... like not me personally, but have it done.
Comment for the algorithm. Plus the boot looks great
Nice work. Especially since you dont have all the specialty tools. I think they look much better with the lug sole.
