I bought a beautiful glass dip pen made by Kawanishi-Glass.
So I used it for an illustration and made a ASMR video.
I also used my favorite fountain pen inks inspired by Japanese colors.
Drawing with a wonderful glass dip pen and colorful inks is very calming🌈

It doesn’t have to be perfect unless you’re copying something that already exists. If you’re painting something new, then perfect is something you make it. If you draw a line “wrong”, then you just paint a picture where that line is right. But I get your point. You still have to be able to correct the picture you’re painting in your head to match what you’ve already painted, and that does take a lot of talent and skill (and practice) and it’s indeed quite admirable and impressive.

Before, I thought an art should be precisely drawn like for example, a typical narrow leaf... but this art of yours made me realise that an illustration doesn't necessarily have to be ordinary or else it won't look realistic at all. This video shows that art is indeed a flexible form of beauty. Thank you for making me realize that. ❤️

Just imagine understanding something so well that you can just know where things are supposed to go since it is so easy to see the final picture. Maybe that's what it means to master something.

I am an engineer and for me drawing like this is literally MAGIC. I simply cannot perceive the world like artists do... I cannot translate things I see into strokes, lines, shapes, colors on paper... When someone simply takes a pen and starts drawing things that become a stunning piece of art... I feel like I am watching a real magic happening in front of me... On one hand it is somewhat frustrating that drawing things I see was always (since I was a kid) extremely difficult for me, virtually impossible. But on the other hand it is extremely inspiring that all people seem to have very similar brains, but some of us draw almost naturally, while other have natural talent for different things. And trying to learn and understand that "other" skills, which are so odd for your brain is... sooo extremely refreshing, makes your brain young again.

Most people say they cannot draw because they lack talent, or skill with the brush or pen. When it is vision that one lacks. Someone able to draw confidently, that they are making the right strokes, has vision and can maintain it. Skill can be taught, talent overcome with practice. Mastery is achieved when you have control over all three and your vision can be altered continuously without losing focus and maintaining that confidence.

@@MonographicSingleheaded I think it has to do with putting the artist on a pedestal. Saying "I can't draw" doesn't praise the artist. Instead, it hurts your own pride and can hurt the artist as well. After all, even the artist at one point wasn't as good she/he wanted to be. The artist has posted a video, to show how much they've worked to get to that level. So just keep on going and your art will improve! :)

I really like how you balanced your illustration with the placement of the girl and the flowers. The gentle flowers, the sweeping lines of her hair, the slightly downturned face-all of those curves look so soft and elegant together, especially with how you spread the ink out more. I also like how you added the lace at her neck and the purple lace-like flowers. Their sharp lines make a beautiful contrast to the rest of the drawing’s softness and add interest to it overall. A very fine piece of work indeed 👏🏻

it fascinates me how people can draw and paint so well. Seems like something people are (or in my case aren't) born with a talent for. My handwriting isn't even the same every time I write a letter. I can't guide a pen and even if I could I'd have no idea how to create an image from my mind, I can't visualise something so clearly :)

I was in the same position 3 years ago. I found Shayda Campbell on KZread and started following her lessons. I’m not claiming to be an artist but I can say that I am now able to produce drawings of flowers that are quite pleasing. I’m still struggling with paint but will keep trying. Point is, you don’t know what you can achieve unless you try!

It’s the lifetime of practice that does it. Sure you can be born with a natural inclination toward it but you can also be born with a natural inclination toward math or science. The only reason we relegate artists the the “talent” ghetto is because with things like math, you need to be at a certain level to survive in society. If we taught drawing and painting the same way we taught math-that is, everyone has to reach a certain level in school in order to graduate-it wouldn’t seem so mysterious

@@FlippytheMasterofPie yeah then I would flunk out of school. The art of drawing is absolutely beyond me. I have been drawing, practicing, and trying my whole life. Most 10 year olds could draw better than me with little effort. Yes practice is important, but some level of talent is necessary, something I absolutely lack. However, I understand your point.
