I’m 74 now, but I remember being taught how to carve Ivory soap into boats in school. Ivory soap bars are soft so it carves up real easily & it floats on water. Our mom must’ve gone broke buying Ivory soap bars to keep me happy. Thank you for bringing a lost memory back.

Hello If I'm not wrong this is probably the longest video I've made so far. It took me almost 5 days to shoot it, so it wold be great if you could hit that thumbs up button if you enjoyed watching it. Thanks. Is there anybody there who likes scratching sounds? If so, today's video should be a treat for you. Initially I was going to make just some soap scratching and carving noises with a knife and a scalpel. I wasn't going to carve any particular sculptures, as it seemed to be too demanding and time consuming, to say nothing about the complete lack of any carving skills. But then when I was browsing through different pictures of soap sculptures I stumbled across a really cool looking Garfield figure. I decided to challenge myself to make a similar one, and yes... it definitely wasn't a good idea... you can see what a masterpiece I managed to make xD Raise your hand if you can see Garfield in this chunk of soap. The second one which is a kind of alien or wannabe superhero was a total improvisation. The last ''sculpture'' is a boat which I decided to make for them. Why? Simply because I though that it would be a good idea to sail both of them away in order to spare them being exposed to ridicule from way better looking colleagues. Unfortunately they didn't make it to the island of losers and had been lost in the depths of the ocean of dishsoap. Just for the record - It is not a tutorial. This video was made only for relaxation purposes. I've never been carving in soap before and I consider myself as a person without any artistic sense. I'm completely aware that my technique is improper and clumsy. This video is aimed at people who want to relax while listening to high quality sound of ASMR triggers. I keep on coming back to this video haha. This is one of the favorite Asmr videos, the sounds of soap carving are so good, thanks for your amazing content!

It's so funny but my sister who's 20 yrs younger remembers me coming home & teaching us all how to carve sailboats out of Ivory soap bars. Our mom must've used Ivory soap then. She used to buy everything in bulk back then so she must've had a lot on hand. I guess somethings leave lasting memories. That's when families did things together.

That knife looks like it would be extremely good at stabbing someone directly in the eye socket. Like if I ever had to stab someone's eye socket, that's the exact knife I would use.

My sweaty hands would make it really difficult to hold the soap after a few minutes, amazing soap carving btw, I never got tingles from soap carving bur I need for yours after a while so thank you

I can carve stuff but I carve wood, here are the steps on carving wood: 1. Get yourself some wood (length and width depends on what you want to make so no need to go crazy and buy the biggest thing there is) 2. Get a reference photo on whatever you want to carve 3. Get your trusty hacksaw and take off any vegetation on the wood, moss, leaves etc 4. Get a bandsaw and make a rough replica of what you are making and use a Dremel for details 5. Get a circular saw and start to shape the wood so it’s smooth 6. Finish up any details or whatever is left to smoothen out with hard to reach areas with a small dremel 7. coat it with resin (I always coat mine with resin but you can paint it if you want so no need to go crazy) 8. Finish up anything else 9. Admire your work 10. Frame it or just put it somewhere that it would look nice And there you go the 10 steps of making wood sculptures, now go be creative! :3
