The Prince returned to his room to dress for the Winter Festival, but he did so with a heavy heart. Once safe inside the privacy of his quarters he draped his dear Maid’s scarf along the back of a chair, staring at it with a wistful sigh as tears began to brim in his eyes. Such a thoughtful gift she’d bestowed upon him--he’d tried to reciprocate, but hers was handcrafted, made with the sweat of her brow. So that he’d think of her when he wore it. The Prince gave a slight laugh, shaking his head. As if he needed the scarf to have her on his mind. Yes, he was certainly stressed. Although he’d done his best to not show it, his Maid saw through him as usual. And she’d done an admirable job relieving said stress...but she was also technically the cause of much of it. Ultimately, though, the Prince had to take responsibility for it. The ‘Hero Prince’, many of the populace called him. He’d even let it go to his head. But with a self-deprecating scoff the Prince now rued the day they started calling him that. Some hero. Heroes were brave. Brave enough to do the right thing, to overcome their fears. Ironic was it that when the Prince’s very life was at stake--fighting highwaymen, adventuring across perilous terrain, scouting travels, what have you--it was all too easy to be the very model of the so-called Hero Prince he was touted to be. But when it came to matters of the heart...there he felt he was indeed a base coward. His father the King had naturally wanted to have his son married off, both to continue the family line and to bolster the strength of the kingdom through an alliance with one of the neighboring ones. The Prince wasn’t keen on the idea, but agreed to try in order to please his father and be the ever-dutiful son. The King was very much a traditionalist, but he did love his son and he meant well. So the Prince begrudgingly journeyed to meet this kingdom’s Princess and see what would happen. Certainly this Princess had many excellent qualities. She was stunningly beautiful, fiercely intelligent, cunning and driven, and indeed a good-hearted woman despite rumors to the contrary. The two of them shared much in common, including the direction in which their hearts laid. The Princess was in love with her own maid (who ended up not being a maid at all, but that was a whole other story), but unlike the Prince she had the courage to express it. Things grew briefly out of control, with the Prince considering taking drastic measures to defend his new friend’s right to court whoever she deemed worthy. With a smirk, the Prince looked at his reflection in the bedroom mirror as he dressed. It wasn’t entirely a selfless act, he knew. Again, he and the Princess shared much in common. He hoped he could take a lesson from her now, and show the bravery she had the day she’d dared to express her love. To stand in front of the full court and tell them how his Maid made him feel. That he didn’t care about her bloodline, but only the pure heart that pumped it. That she made him a better person, a better Prince, a better future King. That he couldn’t get her lovely visage out of his mind’s eye, nor wanted to. The way her soft locks cascaded down her shoulders, the way her eyes--green as a forest and even easier to get lost in--sparkled when she said something particularly charming or funny, the way her nose crinkled up a bit when she smiled, or her lips scrunched up at one end when lost in thought, or how her smile was a beacon of light in a thunderstorm. The Maid was absurdly easy to talk to, and frankly it was even better that she wasn’t royalty. Because with her, he didn’t have to act like royalty, either. Didn’t have to put on airs and go through the proper formal protocols and all those things he didn’t much care for. He could just be himself. Sometimes when steeped in the royal life too long he felt like he wasn’t even allowed a ‘self’. She helped keep him alive, remind him he was just a man--nothing more, nothing less. Ironic, being his royal handmaiden and all. So many others were false--acted false, spoke false. Not her. It was refreshing to be around someone like that, and to be made to feel like he wasn’t supposed to treat her as an equal much less fall in love with her...it hurt, like a sword through the chest it hurt not being able to gleefully tell his family and friends to whom his heart truly belonged. No, he’d already gotten a preview of how that would go. Father wouldn’t approve to say the least, and the Prince had recently come to blows with his cousin over the way he spoke of her--imagine telling him such a thing? While everyone else was trying to get him married off for their own reasons, she was the only one who actually cared about the purest reason of all: who made him happy? And the one asking the question...was the answer. Now the only question was, would the Prince be able to live up to his hero moniker tonight, and make his feelings known to all? One way or another, he supposed, this was going to be a Winter Festival to remember.

I absolutely love your story telling. Your maid is obviously well received, but you do a great job bringing other characters, and cultures, to life without showing even the prince, let alone the other mentioned characters and nations. I'm also really glad you're building a well developed story between the maid and the prince without abruptly throwing them into a romantic relationship. I know many fans WANT those two to get together already, but I love seeing the struggles, the affection, the comfort, and the tolls of their responsibilities. I don't want to see the happy ending yet. I'm enjoying this tender story too much to even want it to end!

She is the purest and sweetest thing I've ever seen. I'm sure that this character is in the first place on Santa's good list, nobody deserves it more than her.

The only Stardew ValleyASMR I know of is from a channel that has been offline for two years. Springbok was her name I believe. She has a beautiful Onsen Reservation video as well. Which one did you watch?

@@vanillerygarden lol it wasn't Springbok, though I have watched those, a lot of asmrtists have done stardew valley videos since, the one I was watching was by Ancient Whispers ASMR
