I know you didn’t ask me but I picked up Japanese through KZread lessons, which might not be completely accurate at times, but KZread lessons are usually very helpful for finding essential phrases for different scenarios, but it’s better to learn sounds, writing and reading before going into phrases, but if you wanna just learn how to speak and not read or write it’s nice just to focus on essential phrases for travel, but if you know a Japanese speaker or a advanced japanese learner you can ask them about certain things if you can’t find a good lesson that’s good for you on KZread, but STAY AWAY from google translate, I think you already know why.. also, duolingo might not be the best for learning either, but for review it’s pretty decent, by the way, I don’t know too much yet, so I don’t know if this helps but I hope it helps a little bit, also nice Chongyun pfp

late but katakana is used for loan words/foreign words and used alongside kanji and hiragana
