@@lunavz8433 The movie is about this poor family preparing their suicide because they’ve fallen into financial hardship and basically lost everything. The parents wanted to spare their daughter but she insisted to die with them because she didn’t want to be left alone. Everything you saw in this clip: them destroying their clothes and stuff (destroying everything reminded of their existence), eating their last luxury meal and mixing drugs with water is them preparing for their death. The whole thing is super depressing and disturbing.

Years ago, I went into slow movies with the same question as you, and I realised that they're like that because they're less about the plot and more about the experience of the "reality" of what's on screen, like, the rhythm of it, the meditative quality. I was watching the movie "Norte" and there was a scene where a character stops walking in the middle of the street and it looks like an idea hit him and I instantly knew what he was gonna do without any dialogue or hints because I already spent so much time with him. And there are movies like Ozu movies where the slowness makes the movie melancholic. Or movies like Perfect Days where it's relaxing. There are also some movies like the last movie in this video that use those slow scenes to build tension and a sense of isolation. They look boring outside the context of the movie but they work in it. I'm not saying all slow movies are masterpieces. There are duds, but you can always tell when a director has purpose in doing it or is just doing it because of cluelessness.
