ASMR Elizabethan London (soft spoken, history, sticky sounds)
Today we're staying in London, but going back further in time to the age of Elizabeth I. This is a beautiful map of the City of London and the City of Westminster from 1573. It was created for the Hanseatic League which at the time dominated the trade routes in the North and Baltic sea.
There are some sticky sounds in this one - if that's something you dislike, maybe skip it!

Maps, history and ASMR... What a fantastic combination. You also know your subject knowledge very well, so I'm learning a great deal while relaxing into a well of intense satisfaction!
Just loving this - so multilayered and textured. 😘 Jeannie

This was incredibly fascinating! Lots of facts I didn’t know about! Your voice is sooooo soothing and comforting and the tingles are so intense when you pronounce your s and T’s! I have to fight off sleep because I am just so interested in what you are saying! One day I will make it (awake) to the end of the video! 🥰

Aw thank you so much, I love that! Years ago I was obsessed with a short unintentional ASMR video of a car saleswoman and the way she pronounced the "ts" in pockets, so that my t and s are tingly, is like the best possible thing you could say. 🥰 And in the meantime, I hope you sleep very well!
That was so interesting, I was born in London, I would love to go back to Tudor London in a time machine, but this video was almost as good! Thank you! So relaxing, and I was learning at the same time, so not a waste of time at all. This must have taken hours, maybe months and years, of research, and it seemed like you were talking with no notes. Very impressive! I wish we had kept more of it, for example the City walls, or even some of the gates. Too many sky-scrapers going up now. New to your channel, will be watching lots of your previous videos!

I actually love the London skyline, but yeah, seeing the medieval centre as it was once would be amazing - and probably feel like a very different place. My notes are just off to the side 😉 Luckily there's quite a bit of information on this particular map online, so it was all doable in a reasonable amount of time :) I'm very happy you enjoyed it, Charles, thank you so much!

Two of my favourite topics - London and the Tudors! Honestly your videos are amazing and I look forward to them every week. If you lived in London you would make a brilliant Blue Badge guide. They are the official London tour guides who know the history inside out. And what a brilliant map! Loved it.

Great nails! 💅
I think the 8 million Londoners refers to the demographic living within places with London postcodes so that includes the London suburbs. I believe the population of London goes up by around 3 to 4 million with all of the commuters in town…. I think the population was six million when I lived there about 30 years ago but was just under 9 million in 2019. The population of the City of London is relatively low due to the number of commercial buildings. This is another wonderfully informative and interesting vlog..and of course it was as soothing as ever.
