There is a Niagara Falls (city) in both Canada and the US. Subsequently, there is also two separate waterfalls, one associated with Canada and the other the US. The Horseshoe Falls is otherwise known as the "Canadian Falls" and then there is the American Falls. Also, in the 80's and 90's - in my geography classes at least - the north was known only as the Northwest Territories. Your observation of course is correct in that it was largely the entire north of the country, "northwest" was a odd name for it! ;)

@@themorse0093 O Canada" (French: Ô Canada) is the national anthem of Canada. The song was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony; Calixa Lavallée composed the music, after which, words were written by the poet and judge Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The original lyrics were in French; an English translation was published in 1906.[1

The North-west Territories originally consisted of the Districts of Franklin, Keewatin, Mackenzie & Ungava. The District of Ungava eventually became part of the Province de Quebec. Then the self autonomous Indigenous territory of Nunavut was created in 1999. It is a government sponsored experiment in Indigenous Self Government. The total area of Nunavut (2,038,722 km2) is larger than western Europe, with a population of less than 40,000 people.
