ASMR Blackboard Drawings for Teachers from the 1950s (soft spoken, tracing, Austria)
This is one of my favourite finds from when I went thrifting! It's a book full of sketches for teachers to help them create nice and clear blackboard drawings for their students, published in 1952. These are specifically about Austria and we're going to look through the first half today; I'll post the second half on Sunday in German.
Sleep well and have nice dreams!

@@MelangeASMR you're very kind. I really hope life is treating you and your family well. 👪 💓
Such an interesting contrast to many classrooms today, where material is projected onto a screen rather than hand drawn. Such a lovely video!

Right, it's such a fascinating find! And feels pretty alien at this point, even though I still remember classrooms without screens 😅

I love that the publishers put in a corrections note rather than reprint haha. What an interesting book though!

No money for lectors or reprints in 1950s Austria lol. Really, what fascinates me most is that each version of the country seems to be drawn again from scratch. Surely they could have used a stamp??
I would love to push SUBSCRIBE again and again to your channel 😅 you always bring so much original content. I LOVE IT.

Hi Hanna! Thank you so much, I'm flattered! Happy to have you around 🤗
It's interesting, I more enjoy the videos with the material in another language. At first I strayed away from them, but after them being translated I like them a lot more. The videos with the material in English that I can read I end up reading it when it is on screen and then hearing it again just doesn't land the same for me. Hearing it in the native language and them summarized is very satisfying.

Yeah I get that, sometimes I get impatient and "read ahead" haha, it's different when you wait for the translation in its own time. Thank you for the kind words!

That one really was a nice surprise - I didn't understand what it was (other than a cool old book haha) until the lady I bought it from explained it to me as I was paying. 🙈
As someone who was/is educated completely without this sort of hand-drawn stuff, I’ve got to say it seems a lot more flexible.
Perfect timing, I'm just going to bed early! Love from 🏴

Just found your channel tonight - such delightful content! Your voice is very calming, and I appreciate the attention you give to tracing the things on the page (I love tracing and paper sounds). Unfortunately my brain was fighting between relaxing to sleep and intently watching your fascinating geography lesson. I am American, but I’ve always been very fascinated by your country’s culture and beauty. I had the pleasure of spending a day in Vienna (far too brief a visit) several years ago on a business trip.

I know that feeling - I like listening to lectures or podcasts when I go to bed, and I rarely make it past the 10 min mark, even when the topic genuinely interests me. Sometimes I try to listen to the rest the next evening but even that isn't always successful. Spotify must think I really really love some episodes because I keep putting them on haha. I'm very happy you enjoy my content, thank you so much, Jon! And hey, maybe there'll be another opportunity to visit Vienna some day. :)

New subscriber here! I love love love your tracing videos - and your soft spoken voice is heavenly. I would love if you could try a video tracing with a small makeup brush instead of the pointer! Thank you so much for the video! One note about the Donau: that Schwz. must stand for Schwarzwald rather than Schweiz, I think, since the sources of the Danube lie in Germany.

in some parts of hungary are still schwab people and they still practice their culture
I don't know how youtube has figured it out, but: I'm working on a project set in a school in fictional universe, inspired by 1950-70s period (in different regions), so I've been collecting little cute details like this 😅

@@MelangeASMR thanks, I'll keep that in mind ^^ tbh, I've never even thought about books like that existing, I kind of assumed that only printed/hand-drawn posters(? I'm blanking on a better word) were used also completely forgot to mention - the video itself is great, both on visual and audio fronts ^^
