I find the differences in language and culture between the UK and America interesting. You used the word “tartar,” which I haven’t heard from the dental world in the US in decades; dentists here refer to it as “calculus” these days. I wonder if it’s because “tartar” is a word also associated with food, whereas, unless one is mathematical, no one likes “calculus.”
