Love this! I’m 100% reading ESA now, because I loved Love and Other Words, but had the same issues with it. Also, the cheating 😬It was a bad reveal. Very excited to listen to this book on Audible!

I’m sorry and I mean this with respect but I think if someone like Jeanette mccurdy is gonna write a memoir and tell their story and what they’ve been through I think they’re the only people that is allowed to not give trigger warnings. Cuz why should she put a warning on her life and her story to make people comfortable? If you’re uncomfortable with her story, oh well …that sounds like a you problem.

I hear you! And you’re right in that she doesn’t owe anybody anything. She can do whatever she likes and I respect that. I can only speak from personal experience and that’s what I’ll compare it too. If I want to discuss trauma with my friends, I usually tell them beforehand “hey, I’d like to talk about so and so, but it involves x. Is that ok with you?” - because though I’d want to share my story, I would not want someone to feel triggered by it (keeping in mind that being shocked over content is different from being triggered by content yk?). However, that’s my personal opinion/approach and those can vary :).

Also, writing a book, even a memoir, isn't about the author'self, because then it'd be private & not released/published. If it's destined to be published, then it's thought & edited to be read by a number of people, that's just philosophical, and adding TW is just another stuff about readability, like editing or size of fonts... It's not about "owing" something, but honoring the readers... Especially, when there's money involved and a piece of work becomes a product to be sold. This comment was a bit agressive & tone-deaf when you see Fleur being so sensible & caring in her vids, being really benevolent & advocating for kindness 🤷🤷
