I started in vanilla and quit almost a month or two after. Was boring, I came back for TBC, played through to WOTLK and quit at the end of it because I started smoking pot, and having sex in school, and came back at the end of WOD beginning of Legion because why not

The PvP in Pandaria sucked dick. It was literally tank v tank. On top of that, there was a 6 month content drought that literally forced everyone to PvP while they waited. It took forever for people to die, and it was a literal CC battle nightmare. I still have nightmares from it. I literally grinded to 45k kills cause i was so bored with the expansion... then ended up quitting.

imo mists is the third best expansion. it does have a couple flaws but it was overall a great expansion for a lot of reasons.

As someone who has played since TBC, MoP was by far my favorite expansion. Fight me.

I feel you man I was here since vanilla and the only thing I didn't like about MoP was the Pandas. I was playing warrior, so it was great because warriors couldn't die in MoP with all the self-heals lol. best xpac for me too gameplay wise

I remember launch day everyone was getting stuck looting and iceskating around on their knees, not being able to do anything for hours. Being stuck in the starting area for the first few hours. Just knee skating. Great times.

my ranking: 1. TBC 2. Classic 3. Wrath 4. MOP 5. Legion 6. WOD 7. Cata That said, I had the most fun playing Classic and Legion, as that is where I played the game more serious and raided and PvPd quite a bit. ppl under me said there is no correct order and I agree. the beautiful thing about this game is that theres something for everyone. I loved challenging 5-man dungeons and long dungeon crawls, thats why I like most about this game.

How about there is no "correct order" because for me cataclysm was great because it felt good while wotlk was behind tbc, cata and classic because i just hadnt that much fun with it even though i was equally "successful" in both expansions. And indeed a huge amount of people love mop but i hated it really much. the only expansion i canceled for a few months

Same, MoP is the only expansion I left for a year, unfun repeat quests and nothing to work towards other then the like 10 different variation of the same mount (not that WoD was any better but at least WoD had a cool setting)

9:47 It was at this point. Shaman could no longer use ANY OTHER WEAPONS other than Staffs an Dual Wield.2Hander weapons where disabled an broken. It has been THAT LONG! Shaman only needed dual wield because they could only use 1hand and a Shield or use 2Handed weapons. So we needed Dual Wield. They Disabled 2Hand weapons an made it only work on Dual wield.

One thing I never understood is why was Vanilla SO BIG. It was bigger than every other expansion combined almost. It felt like an actual world.

Its because Vanilla was a new entire game. The expansions are just expansions. Of course the base game is going to be bigger than the expansions, its always that way

To be fair. I looooved cataclysms zones. That's about it. But yeah. BC, and Wrath were definitely WoW's prime. As for gameplay/story. And when it still had the hardcore MMO feel. Not seen today. IMO

Man MOP class design and raids where the fucking best. No shitty pruning and every class felt enjoyable and PVP was very balanced. If only they had been making content more actively.

I consider Mop to be the last wow expansion. It was Warlords that introduced many new elements to the gameplay that I strongly do not care for. Every expansion has at least one huge positive change Legion's was Mythic+ keeping 5 man dungeons relevant and challenging , rewarding and allowing those who don't like to raid to continue to progress.

The hate for MoP isn't deserved. The storytelling throughout the zones was excellent, among the best of any expansion. All of the stories for the zones came together well and led into the dungeon and raid stories. The zones looked excellent and had perhaps my favorite music. Classes felt pretty darn good for the most part. PvP wasn't perfect but was fun. I enjoyed scenarios. I felt more immersed in MoP than in any other expansion.. overall (BFA has some great story immersion moments). The main issue I remember from MoP was the layered rep grinds initially at level cap. I still create a new panda now and then just to have fun going through the initial turtle island zone again. So much fun.

TBC didn't introduce 10 man raids... Vanilla did with Lower Black Rock Spire and Upper Black Rock Spire.

15:25 It's not (necessarily) hacking, everyone knows how you could get to the airport close to Ironforge, and going there you could go further to a huge area that did not merge well together at all. The terrain was fucked up, but you could go further to the little village between Ironforge and Wetlands. There was signs saying "This way" "That way" etc. There was also a cave you could enter. At the end of the cave there was litterary nothing. Just a huge open void. Jumping into the void made me fall across the map, eastwards, until I hit water. I was unable to drown, which made me a bit nervous. However I could move my character until I died from fatigue. (I think it was close to the sunken temple).

Azurite expedition are bugged btw and if you dont have a warrior,warlock,mage or a DH you cant do them cuz the gate is scuffed

From a PvP perspective cataclysm is probably the best expansion. It took all the features of wotlk and improved upon them, like rogues having to use smoke bomb / los to restealth after gouge instead of gouge just lasting long enough to restealth, hunters not having to macro weapon switch for deterrence or in general have a macro just to switch pets. Basically for everything they "simplified" they did so in such way that you could still outplay your opponent. The game isn't balanced for 1v1, and some classes does have innate advantages against others, but bar healers you could 1v1 any class as any class and this translated well over to arenas as well.

My hope is that the new Classic WoW slowly goes straight from Wraith of the lich king into mists of pandaria or just something completely new

How funny is that last bit around 51:50 ? The chat notices as Asmon does, that there's a classic loading screen in the background of the final video. I bet you there's 2 possibilities, either Blizzard outsourced this whole documentary production and they never actually caught that, or they deliberately left it in for the hardcore fans as an easter egg. I'd like to believe the latter but the former is more likely. Funny either way

"He's talking about hackers" Actually, he's talking more about players rping as mountain goats. Back then, you could climb mountains by jumping on practically invisible ledges on a steep slope and get where you were never meant to get to.

MoP was great. Garrison's were a cool idea as far as illustrating how strong your characters had become, but they fell so flat. CRZ and evolving worlds are cool if you're playing by yourself but miserable for trying to make it feel like you are playing with other people. So many times I couldn't play with my friends because we were in different instances of a zone.

Ya i kinda liked legion, the introduction of mythic + and stuff like that made the exp worth playing for me. The expacs i enjoyed the most is prob TBC>Wotlk>Legion, everthing else havent really been my cup of tea.

So I’ve been on the fence about buying a pc to play wow. When I was deployed I played wow on my laptop a little on my down time. That was back in 2013-2014. My question is, if I start to play, will I play the old expansions and work my way towards the new content? Or am I just jumping into the story as it is now?

MoP was the only time I've quit playing - almost 2 years - but it *was* beautiful design.

Burning Crusade was the pinnacle

Mists of Pandaria brought Battle pets, Flexible Raids (!!!!), Mythic Raid Format, Brawler's Guild, Proving Grounds, New Talent System, among many other things. Not my favorite theme, but definitely one of the expansions that came out truly with the most changes. Felt really like a brand new expansion and most of the changes were really good ones. The expansion also had a very rich story, scenario, music, and great raids too. Sorry, but MoP was definitely one of the best expansions.

Not every x-pac was good but there was something good in every x-pac. Even in the pre-patch to Legion called WoD :P

Mop was awesome. I still miss it and want to roll a panda time to time

@Sally Firstly, no. Secondly, even if that was true the strategy of appeasing the playerbase you have rather than doing what you do and appeal to the audience you appeal to is terrible. If it was true that classic WoW appealed to kids then they should've kept on appealing to kids and keep attracting new players, the way stuff like Mario and Zelda has kept on being popular. Mario didn't change to appeal to the now 40 year olds that bought the original, and it still sells like hot cakes.

Blizzard didn't have to shift their strategy, they chose to. Already during TBC there was a heavy focus from Blizzard on player retention, as they thought there was a massive potential audience they were missing out on. They were wrong. All the changes you mentioned were efforts to try to capture more of the casual audience on top of the playerbase they already had. As for the analogy, it's how ALL business is run. Let's say the market audience for flashy cars is 35-50. They're not gonna start making cars for 45-60 in 10 years, because they understand that for every 55 year old no longer interested there's a 30 year old eager to look at their product. Same goes for subscription models like Netflix or Hustler magazine.

I started playing at end of vanilla and was a total scrub, then BC hit and I finally understood the game and hit 70 on my hunter. God damn was it good. Wrath was where I stopped. I still liked it but it was changing too much.

I really liked mist of pandaria and i feel like alot of people that dislike it only because there were pandas.
