He hates MoP because it introduced the Panda race and the art change, he just thinks it's made the game to look like it's for kids instead of the hardcore nerdy game it used to be. But the content was pretty cool and everything was still challenging.

Unfortunately Asmongold is actually pretty delusional, what he says one second contradicts with what he said the second before. The game has always appealed to casuals, in fact if you don't believe that go look up how WoW was originally meant to be "The Casual Friendly MMO", not making it up. Also it always had a cartoony style, I've heard players make that excuse since I started playing the game, as one of the reasons they were quitting the game. The guy is just full of shit.

@@mobspeak Because one person said something you take it for truth and run with it then? I don't know if I've ever heard an actual reason out of Asmongold why he hates MoP, but everything Hernan Alfonsin just said sounded like projecting the internet onto one guy to me. Otherwise I rather agree with your assessment of the game's style. That being said- remember Wind Waker? Lol same shit with that game, although I feel like WoW's graphics are of a much lower priority to players then in other games. WoW never looked all that crazy-good to me, but I never cared. Art is quite nice though ofc- old and new.

idk you can hate the game for the mechanic changes (simplifying the talent system is one of the best examples) but also like the content itself. MOP had great content, but it was also "the beginning of the end" in the sense of the game becoming overly simplified and about the time where Blizzard started trying to find ways to keep people playing through artificial means (thunderforged gear as an example)

Victor Olson exactly my point. To sustain such an opinion is just absurd, on some level you are lying to yourself. These two aspects, that so easily can be ignored, should not impede your enjoyment. He has countless times expressed how much he didn‘t enjoy the expansion, which means the ideas of pandas and LFR were polluting his enjoyment in, for example, SoO or ToT. Both raids far removed from the panda theme. Side note, i get and support hate directed toward LFR, but hating on pandas is just immature.

@@TheAwesomoe I agree he says pandas were a thing in the lore and they were but they shouldnt of made an xpac out of them. What he doesn't seem to remember which is mind boggling is their is an entire continent in the lore named Pandaria. Not to mention the Mogu once ruled the land and we're Titan keepers. Timeless isle was and still is the best post expansion launch zone to this day. Seriously compare it to Korthia or Argus.Amazing PvP, Rares, a literal area progression where mobs became stronger as you went up the mountain, catch up gear, tonnes of pets, stunning scenery and one of the best mounts in the game to this day (Huolon one). Another underrated thing was the Pet Battle tournament to unlock the 4 special pets (Chi-ji, Xuen etc.) It was genuinely hard as you had to beat about 9 trainers in a row without being able to heal pets.

TBC lore was horseshit, Outland leveling is complete garbage. In WotLK, Northrend leveling was pretty shit too. Heroic dungeons were a joke compared to TBC heroics.

Oh man, the Censer of Angony was by far one of the best items ever added. I played on a pve server as a rogue, and I was able to get players on my faction to flag by shadow step ambushing their mobs right as they were about to die. They would still be spamming their abilities and 90% of the time they would auto target and hit me, flagging them for pvp, and dying right afterwards to a raid geared rogue. The rage from some of these players was phenomenal, one of the best times I've ever had.

The shitty talent system, the tone-shattering Pandaren, the ugly ass raids (other than Terrace of Endless Spring), the dailies, and the legendary quest all made MoP a bad expansion to me. People only have nostalgia for it because WoD onwards was so shit in comparison.

@@jellyfrosh9102 The old talent system was worse, the choices were barely meaningful, half of the talents were just: 1% more crit or 0.1 sec less cast time, people were doing the same fuckin' builds all the time anyway, Pandaren are a weird race, but keep in mind, Gnomes are even worse. Raids were fuckin' amazing. Throne of Thunder is very cool looking, has fun bosses and really good music. Dailies were tedious, but they didn't bother me too much.

@@taavidude The people who bitch about talents being cookie cutter are usually the people who only used cookie cutter builds. If you weren't cutting edge raiding you didn't need to use a specific talent build. The old talent system was also way better while leveling because it gave you something to look forward to. Instead of waiting 10-15 levels to get a choice of 3 passives. And you really wanna say that the new system gives you meaningful choices? Really? Everything you complain about the old one is the same thing in the new one just stacked. Like having a talent tree in the old one that had 5 stacks that gave 1% more haste per stack, meanwhile in the new one you have shit like "Into the Fray" for warriors that just gives you 3-15% bonus haste, whoopee. The only difference between the two is now I have to wait 15 levels to get a talent that would have taken 5 to fully upgrade under the old system. What a good change. Or you have talent rows that have one stupidly obvious "best" choice while the other two are just filler or are only good for other types of content you likely don't do like PvP. Look at the holy priest one. I have the choice at 30 of getting a movement ability on a class that literally has no other movement spells, filling a massive gap in my weaknesses, or a thing that reduces my cooldown on Desperate Prayer, or a thing that gives me 10% damage reduction on myself when I have renew up. Wow gee what a hard choice. You can say I'm cherry picking but those are just the classes that I've played this expansion and know about. If I went through every tree I could find tons of examples of either 1/3 options actually being good, or cookie cutter builds, which still exist even with this new talent system. The old talent system was far more interesting, had more depth, and was simply more fun, especially while leveling. And the difference between pandaren and gnomes is gnomes weren't based off a fucking easter egg from WC3 like Pandaren were, and gnomes are in games like D&D, panda people aren't. Gnomes are high fantasy, panda people are just goofy. The raids were ugly as all hell, and boring to look at other than Terrace of Endless Spring. Mechanically Heart of Fear was tedious, ToT was decent, Terrace was good other than the last boss, and then you have SoO. The raid that lasted over a year, stretching out a 6/10 raid for 14 months. Man that was so fun. MoP was a 5/10 expansion that only gets remembered fondly because of the expansion that came right after it.

@@jellyfrosh9102 And what was better then? Vanilla- Awful raids, mainly trashfests with bosses being overtuned and having barely any mechanics. Every class pretty much had only one viable spec/build. If you wanted to play Paladin you had to throw Prot and Ret out of the window. If you wanted to play Druid then you had to throw out Balance and Feral. Zones had lack of quests and a lot of bugs and exploits. TBC- Horrendous lore, once again, raids were mainly just trashfests and most of the raids looked really ugly or dull like Gruul's Lair and Black Temple. Outland leveling was pure garbage. WotLK- Lore wasn't too bad, but most raids sucked. The only Wrath raids I enjoyed were ICC and Ulduar. Northrend leveling wasn't that great. Borean Tundra and Dragonblight are some of the worst zones ever made, Icecrown leveling was quite mediocre too.

I enjoyed the hell out of MoP. Every expansion since hasn't been as great in my opinion. Though a lot of this is for 3 reasons: 1. There were a billion procs, and procs still had an ICD so you could track and predict them. 2. Snapshotting was still a thing. 3. Reforging was still a thing. WoD basically shat on all these things and really spoiled the raiding experience for me. The actual content of raids means a lot less to me than the ability to control and maximize my character performance in the raids. ICD procs and Snapshotting made a huge difference in the performance of each player for classes that could really take advantage of them. Reforging made getting a piece of gear that was technically an upgrade but had suboptimal stats not feel so useless. I know a big reason for both of these things being removed is that they "required" players to use add-ons, but I think they could easily make UI improvements to show trinket procs and cooldowns. And since they've removed Hit Rating and Expertise from the game, the necessity of a Reforging add-on decreases substantially. Then again, I played a Warlock. And they were consistently great throughout the whole expansion.

I have some bad memories with Lei Shen. The raid leader in the guild I was in had his head way too far up his own ass to see that what we were doing wasn't working. He blamed it all on people making mistakes and dying, which while true, was only partially the issue. For whatever reason, we ran with 3 healers in 10 man, and that worked all the way up to Lei Shen. I was one of them. So, I simply said that besides the burst damage, there is no reason to have 3 healers. If we instead have another dps, the damage output in the intermissions would be reduced, and I also said that I was willing to sit it out and let them replace me with a dps, or switch me out with a healer with superior dps. Of course, this didn't sit well with the raid leader, said "you're just saying that because you want to dps" again proving that he had his head too far up his own ass to hear what I said properly. Eventually I got tired, joined the raid with an undergeared alt, decided to tank the raid for the first time ever as well. I think we had 2 wipes in total for all bosses. People had similar gear and similar damage values on my Recount to my guild group, and I also saw that there were mistakes being made, just like with our raid group. But no deaths, everything worked just fine. So my suspicions were proven correct. After flashing my achievement in guild chat and talking about my experience, even showing off my shit alt character that I managed to beat Throne of Thunder with, some of them finally started to listen. After them persuading the raid leader a lot, we eventually decided to go with 2-2-6 as I had suggested. Of course, I didn't know about it, came in there as a healer as usual, but was told to switch to dps. So I did. First try resulted in a wipe, but we actually got quite far. Second try we actually beat Lei Shen. With me as top dps, despite maining healer. It was honestly both refreshing and frustrating to see that I was top dps. I didn't have the best gear either, and my reforges were awful since I didn't know I was going as dps. After encountering a few more annoying situations in that guild, I just decided to leave, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The guild was gone by the time Siege of Orgrimmar rolled out.
