I played Archeage from Launch, and still to this day the most fun I've ever had in any MMO. Every time I am remembered of the game I get a mix of Nostalgia, Sadness, Anger and Dissapointment.

Man I was there on launch day, players to the left and to the right as far as my potato pc could render them, 25 fps glory watching people rush to get quests done and surprisingly I was faster than a lot of people which made me feel good for like 5 seconds. by the next month came arround I wasnt interested in the game, but I'm glad to have gotten that experience on launch. It was crazy.
The best part of archeage wasn't even the ocean combat or housing. By far the best part was the actual class system, the fact that you could mix and match various stuff to make a very unique build was my favorite part of the game. So far I haven't seen any game actually do this as well as archeage did it.
I was in Steven's guild (his nickname was Sorcerer) White Order up until they made ArcheAge beyond irredeemable and quit. He ran a pretty amazing guild, he ran it like a corporation. He'd even fly out all of his officers out for a party every year in I think vegas. He'd throw around insanes amounts of money to take care of things, it was unlike any guild or clan i'd ever seen before.

Peon did a good job of pointing out the bad of AA, but he didn't even talk about the class system. The class system is always what got me addicted thinking about what builds I could make. I would absolutely love a game with WoW fantasy vibes with Archages gameplay and class system. AA has the best game feel of any tab targeting game I've ever played.
I really enjoyed this game when it came out up until I paid for a membership. You needed to be a member to get a house, and it was really the only reason to become one, yet there was zero housing available that wasnt being sniped by bots. Every inch of land was bot owned a few months in.
Archeage was so much fun to play. The late nights with the guild always having something to do was a ton of fun.
I made my best MMO memories on Archeage, the possibility for player driven interactions is just crazy, riding your little car running a trade run to Solis while some dude is trying to tow their clipper into land and a ton of other funny shit, it was not like every other god damn theme park MMO out there, and it still remains unique in that way.

The raids in this game were some of my fav. this was my first mmo that i played and back in late 2014 - early 2015 i was hooked. tried my own clan for a while and when that didnt work i ended up joining a larger one called Angels of Death for a while. god that was fun.
ArcheAge is honestly one of the games I've had the most fun playing at launch. That game was just a lot of fun when started it at launch, it had a lot of great features in it, loved having a house there, working on professions, the community was pretty good too, guilds where just great there, a lot of working together, gathering up, and doing trade runs, wow that was just so much fun. Making good trade packs to carry with on the trade runs, like traveling across the ocean to make the most money, though a lot of risk too.
Fresh Start just happened.
Oh I loved Archeage. I remember when a lightning struck the first tree I planted in front of my house and the lightning burnt wood made me filthy rich
Loved this game during launch, it he a community that reminded me of Vanilla WOW. Players became mercenaries, pirates or protected their realm... so much Nostalgia :(
the one thing i really miss that archeage had was the naval combat. some of the best fun ive had in an mmo easily.

I was like 16 in 2014, and I wasn't really as clued-in on how to properly play MMOS back then, so I kind of played this game super casually and had no clue about any pay to win or hype surrounding it, I just made a character and leveled up because a couple of my friends were playing it. I guess I played around its launch, and I had a lot of fun leveling. I don't remember any specifics about it really, I just remember the world looked interesting, the open-world pvp was a lot of fun, and the leveling process was enjoyable for me. I think I spent more time open-world PVP'ing than I did anything else really. I ended up quitting before I hit max level I think, because my friends stopped playing. Honestly I wish a game could re-create some of the fun aspects of Arche Age, without all the detrimental economy and pay to win issues. I suppose Ashes of Creation is trying to do something like that, so I am pretty excited for that game.
ArcheAge was the best MMO created outside of WoW completely destroyed by monetization.

Archeage is a self cannablizing game. I was one at the highest gs possible on my server on unchained for about a year (f2p mind you couldn’t really P2w on unchained unless you rmt’d) I could go on for hours how it was my favorite game of all time and nothing else will ever satisfy the itch of raid v raid pvp. But I could go on for many more hours on how bad the game was and how it basically just eats itself alive only to create a new fresh start server that eventually catches up and has to emerge with the other severs to continue.

So having lived in Japan for a few years I played ArcheAge a year or so before it came out in the US. It was a lot of fun and besides your standard gatcha like gambling for cosmetic items there was no true P2W that I remember for things like resources. I think they still had a labor point refresh pot but I don't recall having the thunderstruck log item thing that I believe NA had. It honestly felt like the publishers were the one to run it to the ground, not so much the game itself. But man it was so much fun even in NA. A game that had so much potential that ended up dry.
Archeage OG was the best experience in MMOs no contest. Sad Asmon will never experience it.
I played ArcheAge a lot during the Alpha and Beta stages, and it was a wonderful game. Sadly it started going downhill the day it launched officially, which was a right shame, because it had some great ideas and mechanics to it.

Dude same! Me and one other person in my friend group got into the alpha/beta and played it a ton and hyped it up for everyone. The day of the launch, I get into Teamspeak and get all excited and ask what server we're playing on and my friends just say "I hate to tell you....but nobody is going to be playing ArcheAge. They made some changes over night." I was devastated.
You could still play this with custom boosts and events on Archerage in a few months they will be adding spelldancer. If you do play don't forget to say hi to the deadmanwonderland guild
I remember the candle gate in A-Unchained. Where you have to click a candle for a mainquest and only one can do (not even party can) and it had a 5min cd to click again. Many player die in this little hut and many player ragequit
I played Archeage during the beta, nearly a decade ago at this point, and I was in my teen years having pretty much stopped playing WoW during Mists of Pandaria. I was on a terrible laptop and I struggled to play Archeage at even 20 fps. And yet, it still sits heavy in my mind with nostalgia and what could have been. It was so incredibly good and yet it was just run into the ground. I was a teen with a laptop that could barely run the damned game and yet I still loved it to bits. I remember building my own tiny little house. I remember building a boat and going on my first voyage. I remember stealing someone else's crops. And I remember just stopping play, because it was just saturated with P2W bullshit. I'm one of those people who look back at Archeage and what could have been one of the greatest MMOs ever to grace us with its presence. And yet it was ruined. They struck gold, smelted it into a platter and served shit to us.
I wish I could link you the clip from a friend in my guild that pays to win super hard on Archage, its possible to kill him but he had a clip of him dropping onto a ship and killing 20+ people solo almost instantly, archeage probably has some of the most fun pvp I've ever played tbh
They just launched a fresh start
The first 2 months of ArcheAge Unchained were truly phenomenal. Such a quality experience navigating through the grind, picking fights, avoiding scuffles, obtaining land and dabbling with trade. Rest in peace, cactus market. It carried my F2P pockets far enough to keep up with the best. Always worth giving this game a shot whenever it *rereleases,* with a few friends with time. Though it will always be dominated by whales and students with lots of time. The formula is never built to last.
1:05 the irony of Steven (Sorcerer) saying this, which I assume is about sieges because that was always his biggest complaint. First, the castles his guild had was from the initial resource event where he purchased resources from other guild members at a premium who were meant to be using them for their own guild. Second, he would bid on Siege scrolls so that no other guilds could attack him. Finally, when people were able to afford the Siege scrolls he kept bidding up, he lost all his castles in 100v100 and didn't even attempt to siege people back. But perhaps it is this very game design that he is against, despite partaking in it. I do wish him and his team all the best in their endeavor and hope that their game is a huge success just the same.
I remember playing Archeage like 6 years ago, maybe? Really cool design. I specifically remember I encountered an illegal tree farm, some guy was trying to get the lightning struck tree lumber shit for the motorized skateboard mount. So, naturally, i started cutting down his trees. He found me and got pissed, screaming "BRO THESE ARE MY FUCKING TREES! FUCK OFF!" and I just ignored him and kept cutting his shit down. He decided he would race me and cut down his other trees before me so i would eventually run out of stuff to steal. Unfortunately for him, one of his trees DID get struck by lightning, the one he was standing at, and it killed him. So i stole his lightning struck tree lumber, made my own skateboard and sat there, waiting for him to return. When he saw me, I assumed he started typing out some explative-laden epilogue and I just rode off.

I love arch age on launch was fun. Just didn't have time to keep playing after about a month or 2. And then when I did have time, it was over
I remember finding niche traderuns combined with playing insane amounts making me rank 7 in vanilla but by then enough players had quit that trino decided to allow alts and guys started running 7 haulers in a row and you were forced to get alts for more gold
I played in alpha and this was a great game. It died when they added the thunder struck tree to the cash shop and the multi accounts moved in before that good times.
Yeah Archage broke my heart as well, it had soooooo much potential. It crazy cause if they drop the labor gate it would actually pop off
Wait, what happened to the old class system where you choose three subclasses from a long list to make a unique class out of them?
Archeage Unchained was some of the most fun I had in an MMO, for about a month till I needed to be away for a week and I was perpetually behind on gear score.
For me personally, the biggest issue was not being able to get a house because of the house placing bots. They were able to place a house before the UI even updated to say the land was available. This basically iced out everyone that had progressed to the point in the game where a large house was necessary to progress. The last straw was opening the cash shop to rare farm items, like the thunderstruck tree branch. This killed public farming overnight, making the game completely pointless to play.
I've played so many MMOs and by far ArcheAge has given me the most memorable memories I will never forget. Making good friends, good pvp, chill farming, pirating, or even tension when running packs thinking about being ganked. I've never felt that with any other MMO. I do miss ArcheAge a lot and wish it didnt take the P2W route and all the dumb mistakes.. a lot of good times and memories from that game...and knowing Steven comes from that game and the flaws it had, I do have a lot faith in Ashes of Creation. Been following it in depth and cant wait to try it out
man when AA came out it was was rough but was the best mmo i ever played period. this was until merge happened. brings back sooooooooo many great memories.
I played Archeage from launch for 2 years always f2p, it was my first mmo. Yes the labor points were a bummer, but we could actually grind in game to pay for our game subscription (wich was not mandatory but had significant advantages mainly with labor point regeneration). And overall altough alot of people cheesed the labor point system with multiple accounts it was a good way to balance the resource values, if only people ever played something like its supposed to and not try to exploit every single aspect to get ahead. I eventually made a second account of my own just for those extra points mainly to pay for my property's taxes. And another cool aspect was you could form a family with friends and share land this way, so that extra char I had was basically the Family's steward who existed simply to pay the property taxes (payed for with laborpoints) of all the land our "family" had. And to this day we still reminisce on how great of a game archeage was, and how much better it could have been.
AA & AAU is being merge on Nov 30 so im sure there be a FS on Nov 30 or later if the merge go well?
archeage and archeage unchained will merge 30th november into one server on each region. hopefully that makes it more active for a while.
Archeage and Warhammer. Oh the memories.. 😢
It was a very fun game. I did all end game content in archeage, castle sieges, kraken, (north america games first red dragon kill) etc etc. The world pvp on this game was absolutely amazing.
I remember when the thunderstruck tree seeds were added and me and all of my friends quit lol
Game's basically a daily quest simulator at this point. Played it for a year 10hrs/day 2020-2021, capped at like 18800 gs full immortal warden armor+hiram rifle, left, haven't been happier.
Archeage was fantastic because it had legitimate and useful supports that were not healers but crowd controllers or buffers. The bard build here was the absolute most fun and only true bard experience I've ever had in any game.
To be honest, I would love to watch Asmon play ArcheAge. This game is any streamer wet dream along with the audience. Just so much fun man
Honestly archeage was an amazing game. I was part of a guild that ended up allying with a guild from the other faction in a neutral zone and we stopped nearly all conflict in the zone. We were some pretty strong guilds and rarely had issues. I learned the other faction's language and was able to communicate with them in game and it opened up diplomacy. It was such a unique experience and for the duration of me playing we kept the peace and rarely had any problems outside of randoms that would come in and start trouble. Again we were strong guilds and squashed any problems quickly. To this day I have NEVER experienced something like that in any other mmo. (shout out to my Celestial homies)
I did play on release it was of it's head ,but i live in Australia so the ping was shocking back then.I loved the game back then ..
I played Archeage for nuuumerous years, starting again really with all the new fresh start servers and actually was in an opposing guild against Steven. People made and always used anywhere between 2-10 alts to bypass that labor. Archeage literally has SOOOOOO MUCH potential with the naval battles, World bosses, open world PvP, player housing, and farming. Archeage Unchained DID bring no gain by real life money, but those that could create and take the time to utilized alt accounts did 100%. The guild drama that happened, especially with everything that went down with Steven, was and will be a very good memory of mine, though it happened years ago.
OMG, I loved Archage. The day it was released the lines and wait times to get in the game was INSANE. I relate to the anger and mourning comments. Memories of everyone wanting to smoke the Laughing Coffins. LOL.
I spent so many time on the queues back in 2014...
Had so many good memories of ArcheAge. I remember hitching a ride on another player's trade ship to get to the enemy faction's continent, was sneaking around trying to steal the mounts and pets of the other faction because I wanted them.
I loved this game in its early days
Don't forget that Trion was acquired by Gamigo. Mixing Gamigo and Kakao is one hell of a combination.
i played that game for years it was awesome, i spent 6-8 months farming and then came the daily Fredrich Isle runs with full on raid style pvp to steal packs or protect your factions packs. just when i had enough gold saved up for mats...enough to finally upgrade my crafted gear to the point i had 4 mythic pieces even with shit RNG upgrade system. then bam all that work for nothing wiped out with one patch crafted gear became obsolete without even blinking. then they had raid gear, then the library gear, and the grind was so strong you had to spend money to upgrade it before it became obsolete again with the next patch.
Seriously, I didn't even play a lot of Archeages content. But the fking FISHING was SOOO GOOOD I literally was ONLY fishing for hours and hours every day. I loved the idea of fishing on a giant ocean with the risk of some other player stealing your boat. We even did fishing raids and if the other nation came there was a big pvp battle on the open sea and it was just awesome! The Idea that your boat or something else can be stolen (for a limited amount of time) by the enemy faction was just awesome. Never had so much fun doing stupid stuff (like fishing) in an mmo EVER.
Was playing realm reborn back then, regret not picking it up
I recently played ArcheAge Legacy with some friends, and ended up reaching the end game in around 9 months of grinding (the pvp end game content is fun, and very inclusive because numbers = win really). If you're interested in this game tho, I suggest you be a healer or tank, that way you don't need to grind as much as I did (Archer/Gunner when it came out). to be relevant, you can help out a lot earlier on if you're a tank, and it's a fun class too (pulling everybody, cc'ing all the big name dps boys) The ship/sea content is pretty good too, you can rob people on the oceans and such. It's fun, but just get in with one of the crowds on whichever side you choose early on, if you go to content then you will earn a payout of whatever rewards they get (daily/weekly bosses etc) and these reward splits really help you gear up quick, just have to consistently go and show interest, and people will help you.

Always thought the game forcing you to stay logged in to get "work" points had crypto mining going in the background. I had a pretty decent system back then and it would run at max even when i was at some minimal graphics location in the world.
I played Archeage for about a year and best mmo. Best world pvp until the top two guilds (one of each faction) colluded to shut out the entire, yes entire, rest of the server population from gathering the best resources. Still fun, loved stealing cargo ships and cashing in on the trade packs. Best sea adventuring I've experienced in an mmo.
Asmon can we get a transmog competition soon?
I played Arch-age when it was in it's Russian beta through VPN, we had a english guild called "rated Mature" , no cash shop, It was amazing, When it came to American servers, The cash shop was added and killed it.
multiple accounts cant really snowball ahead to far because of the way gear works now u cant trade it and u can only use the labor on that character to upgrade that gear but there is a p2w set thats a little stronger then the f2p set i think the only thing that could count as snowballing ahead with the new f2p gear is the gold restrictions if ur not a high level player and know how to make the most gold
If you played Aion back in 2009 that's when the graphics were insane for the time. 2014 is actually pretty late for these graphics.
i remember one time when i have to take a package from one continent to the other and i did not want it to get stolen, i was a new player so i bought a underwater breath potion and i got on my donkey and we cross the ocean walking from the bottom until i got to the other continent.
I feel like the "Fresh Starts" are just them basically recasting the net, hoping to catch more whales every time
So the most hyped mmos that everyone is waiting for are, ToL, AoC and LoL if they do it right.
They literally just released a new fresh start server.
ArcheAge was the best during closed beta and early early release, pvp and griefing fishing boats was so damn fun. The amount of pure chaos, hate mail, stealing trade packs and diving off cliffs to summon your little skiffy boat, stealing from illegal tree farms, dropping from the sky on your glider to backflip + fireball + staff thrust into people and smack the daylights out of them, complaints sent to your guild leader because you killed same faction, the carebears made that game way more fun than it should have ever been. It was the absolute best, then they started selling thunderstruck tree seeds, I saw the writing on the wall and fucked right off.
They released a fresh server 1 week ago but there launching a new fresh start server on december 15th!!!!!!
Twitch and top creators are internally combusting and melting down with drama and Asmon j chillin 😎 hell yeah
I remember how cool the game was on Alpha Server. Once it went live, seeing no one single bug solved broke my heart. Does anyone here remembers how annoyng were the begginner quest, that just alows one single person talk to the npc every 2 minuts? I got stuck for 5 hours in there.
keep an eye out for Illuvium. Do an interview with the devs if you can.
Archeage was the best game i ever played
