Dude if you are on the street minding your own business and some random guy comes up to you with a box asking for a dollar and you don't give a dollar it doesn't mean you're selfish. You have no idea who this person is or what he's actually going to do with the money, he could just be a scammer keeping it for himself. Most people don't want to be bothered by random people on the street asking them for money. Also most people these days don't even carry cash on them, they use their card.

I think for most people the only way they would lose their card is if they lost their wallet as most people always put their card straight back in their wallet after they use it, so if your wallet is lost you wouldn't have the dollar anyway.
