Asking people How Much Rent they Pay in Malta
Asking people how much rent they pay in Malta ? In todays video i met people that are living in Malta and asked them how much rent they pay. Some of the answers shocked me, as poeple who moved to Malta are paying a sharing room for €375 per month. Some other people are paying €950, some €1400 and even €4500 per month. The rent in Malta for accommodation is different according to the size of the apartment and the locality. Needless to say the rent in Malta has gone high up in the past 5 years and many people are not happy about that.

As I'm always saying, these interview type of videos are never disappoint! These are so informative, and even funny! You always put some funny scenarios, which makes the videos even better! And I loved the end too! Maybe your friend could do a house tour, if it's not too private information ofc, to show how a higher priced rental looks like in Malta! I'm curious! This video was amazing again, I wish I could pay as much rent as the dog in the video hahaha!

Rent is extortionate in Malta, I left Malta in 2017 as rent for a small 2 bed became too high. My daughter is still in Malta paying 850pm for a two bedroom flat.. outrageous.. I now live in Crete and pay 400pm for a 300sqft two bedroom flat with sea views..

But in Greece (which Crete is part of), wages are way less than in Malta...unless you're working remotely for a foreign company....so a rent of 850 euros in Malta is not comparable with a rent of 400 euros in Greece, because average salary in Greece is not even 1000 euros!!!!

I am Australian 74 years of age, retired in Thailand. I knew many Maltese people in Australia during my life. Enjoyed your video with the Australian returned Maltese woman, but one thing troubled me. Not once did she express gratitude to Australia for the opportunity to live and work there. My family went to Australia from the UK when I was 9 years old. Most of my family have already died. I am happy in Thailand, but Australia offered a new start to so many, and the opportunity to succeed which may not have been possible in their native country. It is alright to leave when working life is finished, for whatever reason, but never forgot what Australia did for you, and be frank and honest about it.

@@chiburuomaobianuju7571 I assume you are referring to English language education. The English language 'international' schools are generally good, but very expensive. Have know of expats with children who have chosen the Philippines instead because of that issue. You could look into the Malaysia My 2nd Home program in Sarawak, or soon to be available in Sabah. Peninsula Malaysia is very affordable, but the present retiree program is too expensive. There are rumours it may change within a couple of years to something more affordable, but at this stage that is only speculation.

Hello Alex. Currently planning my upcoming relocation to Malta and I found your videos extremely helpful to learn about the country remotely. I've already seen plenty of your videos regarding accommodation/best places to live, but you never mention Gozo island. Is it bad for expats? Too isolated? Maybe some issues with delivery/wired internet coverage? On agency sites I can see some decent quite cheap flats in Gozo, but it is hard to predict all the pitfalls
@AlexinMalta

Hey. Gozo is excellent and im planning to make a video comparing life of an expats in Gozo VS Malta. Its not that Gozo is to isolated but its more limited i would say. If you work from home and you enjoy walks in nature, Gozo will be ideal for you. Life is slightly cheaper in Gozo compared to Malta

A Norwegian couple I know moved to Malta 7 years ago with, what was at the time , a very good relocation package because the company desperately needed Norwegian speakers. Even with all the perks, the lifestyle and both now HoDs, they're still exasperated by the insane rental price on their apartment, luxurious as it is, and it's in Mosta. I don't know how a 'regular' person on minimum wage survives out there.

I lived in Swieqi in 1996-2002 - apart from the main road, almost no roads had tarmak - it was just gravel and stones! There were many many unbuilt plots of land. It's very funny as a local to see all the places many people like to rent and compare them back to the late 90s or early 2000s.

@@clarencepsaila4743 With the legalization of dope, Malta is a little Thailand.
@clarencepsaila4743
Жыл бұрын
@@libatalklieb5793 that may be your perspective because Malta is set up to look like a little Thailand to those who come here for the weather, the sea, the parties and so on (I lived in Chiang Mai for a year and other parts of Thailand for an additional 6 months) . However, Malta is actually an intricate business hub and the Thailand / touristic destination illusion is just one of its income streams. Malta differs from Thailand by the large proportion of foreign workforce that comes here and the reasons why we "need" this workforce - one of which is specifically to create conditions were rents are high and renting two properties can equal a monthly income from almost any job for a local. Malta is a producer / service provider driven economy not a consumer economy therefore in all facets service will generally be a little inconvenient and quite over priced, unlike Asia, US and so on. Lastly Malta is very diversified and tourism / long term leisure movement to Malta is only one branch of a very sturdy tree. I-gaming, Pharmaceutical, education, financial, insurance and other service sectors are very well developed and the impact of tourism economically has shrunk from around 45% of GDP in the 90s to 23% of GDP recently even though tourism has increased by a lot since the 90s! This simply means that other sectors of the economy are working very well and driving development and prices upward. I think there are many reasons why Malta is constantly one of the best economic performers in the EU - my favourite one is that since Malta is small - actually business in Malta is a web and once anyone sets foot here they have entered this web where you would rent from one cousin, get your insurance from another, go to their uncle if you need a doctor and buy your groceries from his sister. This is very much underestimated by foreigners because it creates a hive-like business structure where all the bees are extracting the same pollen for the same honey.
