It's rare to meet a person who will actually rethink their position in real time when confronted with evidence that contradicts their initial position. In my experience, for most people, it takes many, many such instances for them to really confront the dissonance and attempt to resolve it rather than simply ignore it.

They go back to their gender-sexual-race-equity, anti-free speech, anti 2A, (no whites allowed) clubs and anti-capitalist, anti-American classes? They’re All talk. They’ve PROVEN they’re un-American. Now they need to prove they ARE American. No double standards here. They are admitted anti-Constitutionalists. Now, all the sudden, they’re… “I might, maybe, perhaps, rethink…” OK, then… PROVE IT! I do sympathize with folks who're not cognizant of the realities of life that necessitate all citizens having the right to arm themselves as needed. The sympathy is because they have good intentions-they don't like violence and hope to reduce incidents of gun vioence. We get that-we'd like to see the same thing happen. It's just that we've been educated enough by reality that we perceive how making guns illegal for good citizens to own will only elevate gun crime, because criminals are not going to obey the law.

@Elizabeth Bennett I'm not certain race has anything to do with ... not beliefs, but values... but many studies done over the course of decades in varied countries around the world have shown that in aggregate, men and women do hold different value structures. Men, on average, are more likely to value risk taking, and therefore freedom. Women, on average, are more risk averse, valuing stability. Both men and women who find themselves losers in the current society tend to value equality over the other two, since by virtue of being at the bottom of the societal structure, equality brings them up closer to the level of those higher up in society's hierarchy. These competing values are in-built, although not absolute. So, while there is overlap, women more often hold with the values democrats claimed until recently to uphold, while men more often hold with values most often claimed by the republicans. But I fear and believe that most politicians are only really expressing will-to-power, using whatever levers they can grasp to increase their own personal wealth and power, at the expense of those they claim to serve. And in this, yes, I agree they do use divide and conquer strategies. You can see their lack of overarching ethical standards by watching how they reverse course on subjects repeatedly. The republicans passed bill after bill to overturn Obamacare when they knew he would veto them, then as soon as Trump was in office, suddenly, they could only muster one attempt, and John McCain was magically and singlehandedly able to stop that repeal effort from passing, and they never brought it up again. The democrats have done the exact same thing more times than I can count, but since republicans claim to be the small government side, I rail against their double-dealings a bit more harshly.

Are you guys stupid? Do you think the average person needs to be deep into politics? The role of the United States citizen is not to be deeply intrenched in politics, but to provide something to society while pursuing happiness. Anyone who goes around filming deep and complicated political interrogations on ordinary citizens need to stfu and die. Also, the video is just upright wrong. Dems wanna take away guns from terrorists just like how republicans wanna deport illegals. Take guns from bad people like republicans take right of entrance from illegals. You all have no double standards at all. The reason why any of these normal people would say otherwise is because THEY ARE NOT POLITICIANS. Being an American allows the right to pursue happiness, not the enforcement of learning politics.

    1. There’s macro and micro. Macro is a nation giving out guns to defend. Micro is an individual having a gun to defend. There’s no difference. Weather it’s a nation state arming its citizens, or a citizen arming themselves, the reasons are the same. One is in defense against an aggressive national threat, the other is in defense against an aggressive personal threat. Hence, the 2nd Amendment. 2. It takes time, familiarity, and proper training to be skilled and proficient in use of firearms. (Reloading, cleaning, accuracy, proper trigger control, muzzle discipline). It also takes discipline and bearing to hold a crumbling front line against a larger overpowering force, to think under pressure, plan and form tactics in the face of death. One doesn’t take blue-haired nose-rings from a random Starbucks and Chipotle fueled liberal arts or anti-cop, anti-gun college campus or Silicon Valley, San Francisco, LA, or New York high rise, and expect them to sleep in mud and ice, sweat and freeze for weeks or months and think under pressure when the people around them are being ground into little bits of blood and bone. I guarantee most, if not all, of these “newly enlightened” have voted over and over again to abolish 2A, shut down firearms dealers, eliminate concealed carry and Constitutional Carry, etc. NOW… now, all the sudden, “I’ll have to rethink…” Sorry folks, NPC, preprogrammed, cultists, who want nothing more than the government to control every aspect of their lives can’t “rethink.” Enjoy your latte, frappe, coco and air conditioned dorm with maid service while you shop at the cutsie boutique in village square, while some grunt lies in a sandpit in 29 Palms, training to be a warrior. Or some teens who grew up with 12 gages and AR15s in Mississippi are living in a tent in 30 degree cold for days, patiently waiting for the perfect buck to get in range for a clean kill this winter. I just want to offer a suggestion. The gent in Mississippi is probably hunting with a bolt action 270 or 30-06. People, generally, hunt with a 12 gauge only when they are required to do so by law, buck shot or slugs. And semi-auto rifles such as the AR15, I’m not sure about MS. Where I live, PA, they are illegal to hunt deer with them. BTW, I really liked your point number 1. Excellent way to show that equivalency.

@@chocolatte6157 One can’t say, “not sure how it is in…” then proceeded to speculate. Mississippi is NOT Pennsylvania. Or California. Or New York. Or Oregon… However, you convoluted my assertion and missed the point. I said kids who grew up on ARs and shotguns, and wait patiently in the cold to KILL SOMETHING. I didn’t say the swoop in on Apache Helos and mow down anything that moves… In Mississippi, firearms are legal to possess, carry and hunt with. THE POINT IS (and I want to be VERY clear here) that kids who grow up shooting 12 gages, AR15s, and all manner of firearms are much more proficient in their handling and use (as well as accuracy, safety, and maintenance) later in life. I’m from Mississippi. We hunt with ARs and shotguns and bolt action rifles. We Constitutionally carry simi-auto pistols and revolvers. We have no “waiting periods” or “cooling off” periods. We have no magazine limits or button bans, and all the “enlightened” states nonsense. I’ve been shooting since I was 4. .22s at first. Then, at six, my dad let us (the neighborhood kids) shoot (with help) his Ruger .357 revolver. Then 12 gages, ARs, .45s, 9s, .40s… Imagine, just imagine a snotty-nosed kid from big city wherever (especially in the “enlightened” states) going to the plot in freezing weather, waiting to take the shot from a (we’ll use your analogy) “bolt action rifle” they’ve never been raised on from a cub TO KILL SOMETHING. Many, many kids from the “horrid rural states” know how to shoot. Know how to safely and accurately fire a rifle or handgun.. OR SHOTGUN. And, because they are legal, have been raised on them.

The cops should have to follow the same rules as anyone else. It should be just as hard for them to get a permit to carry as any other citizen. Now if you want to argue that it should be easy for a citizen to get a permit to carry I don't disagree.

If she someday finds herself in the wrong situation or the wrong neighborhood, and realizes she cannot defend herself, and no one is coming to save her, she *might* have a “come to reason” moment. Obviously she has never experienced that yet. She has NO idea how lucky she has been. (I refuse to use the word “privileged”.)

I'm Australian and gun violence was neither significant before the 1996 gun grabbing by John Coward and after. We've always had extremely low levels of gun violence, but one fishy totally not a false flag incident in Port Arthur was all it took for the scum to effectively disarm us. Even in that same year, a total of 104 people were actually murdered (excluding suicide, accidental shootings, etc.) by someone with a gun, from a population of 18.31 million people. To also clarify, I say "effectively disarmed" because technically we're not disarmed, as there are more privately owned firearms in Australia, than before 1996, just a lot less gun owners though. We also are disarmed in that every gun is on a registry, it's difficult to get a license, it's illegal to use it in self-defense, and the only guns we can own are Bolt-Action, Pump-Action, Lever-Action, Break-Action, etc. The only Semi-Automatic we can own are handguns and they're much harder to obtain legally. Don't ever let those corrupt scum take your guns.
