    Too many foreigners in Singapore are hiring and promoting their own people at the expense of true-blue Singapore citizens born and raised locally. The end result is that many Singaporeans have to work as PHV drivers and food delivery riders.

The woman professor sounds so offensive and self-appreciating, especially when she applauded her own research centre and the SkillsFuture Credits which her industry would benefit in terms of more jobs created for educators like herself. But it is clearly not in touch with the needs of the SME employers who need their employees full-time and on-the-job due to severe labour crunch.

    The budget need something for those people whom are long term unemployed, like paying a 2k salary to push them to take courses to get back into workforce. More and more citizens are like this in SG which could amount to 10-20%. Middle aged people 30 years old unemployed, mums wanting to work and older retrenched people for years driving grab, government have to try cover them. The age old excuse is the applicants will abuse, but during the course they can be set up by govt to take up a slot in a company. Its unfair as people are required to show proof of employment last 6 months or 12 months to get into a program.

    Workers working for private sectors like delivery driver / security all that and other jobs like cleaners ....those bosses need to go for courses to trade workers fairly and appreciate worker's effort ...i see many bosses just want make more money but unwilling to pay worikers more even working 12hrs job ..security company is the worst i can see in Singapore...work 12hours and end of day cash in hand is little and lot went cpf ...

    Please explain why HDB can allow private property sellers to escape the 15months waiting period to buy resale HDB direct while I can't even apply for a HDB rental flat even I have long-term medical problems and financial stress .

    I reckon that the well-to-do should contribute more. Going on Holidays is a luxury. Many go on holiday more than once a year. In this aspect, Govt should consider a GST on full-package tours. With this additional taxes support the entrepreneur with wages and rental expenses subsidies

    @@JohnLee-gt3sr In academia (which the woman professor should very well know herself), one does not say things overly extreme such as "very positive" especially when these policies were only just announced. No one can be sure the outcomes would be "very positive". Can you be sure? The labour crunch is not necessarily positive for employees when wages do not rise in tandem or the jobs get outsourced to cheaper countries or employers would find new ways to replace employees with technologies. Let's be more impartial and neutral instead of being biased to policies which we know are retrospective interventions due to past policy failures.

    The so-called "positive" policy are still the same Covid polices, unemployed getting about $2000 per year of GSTV, COL when they need a salary to be pushed to take courses to enter workforce. Employers condemn citizens whom are unemployed for 6 months or more, from here they find it difficult to get back into workforce. This permanent rot will take place.

    Does he or pap ministers know that everytime they do a political announcement prices of most household items goes up by 5 to 10 pc. How many household essentials we need to buy weekly? If there are 5 announcement a year it means retailers react 5 times....n not including rental increases or utilities. An item I bought at 3.20 for 2 just cost now 1 for 2.17. yes on tv they smile telling others how this and that. Go monitor all the items monthly.. weekly Arm chair folks
