    Yes! After I had watched a few of his sermons on KZread my daughter, grandkids, and I were parking the car at Target. I just happened to notice a bumper sticker that read “www.GTY.org I mentioned it to daughter and said Oh it’s probably some awful leftwing thing (we live in Minnesota). When we got inside unbeknownst to me she looked it up online and said to me, as I was heading to a different part of the store, “Grace to you!” I stopped dead in my tracks. I had known that phrase because some of the videos I watched were on there. I said WHAT?! Lol. She said, that’s what the bumpersticker was about. It’s some guy named John MacArthur...? I was gobsmacked. Never had I seen that bumpersticker or even heard of Grace to You until I’d seen those videos on YT. It just felt like a big nudge in that direction. 🤔🥰

    Pastor John MacArthur has really made me ? My faith and he has changed my life his sound theology has changed my understanding of Gods sovereignty and to understanding the fear of God (Proverbs 9:10 ) (proverbs 8:13)I was so broken for my sins and conviction. I have come to understand how I believe in Christ alone and he is the way the truth and the life. I now have a board understanding of the doctrine of original sin, sanctification, total depravity , soteriology and Justification. I now I hunger for God’s righteous word and I’m not spiritually dead and all because of God Grace and his gift of Faith alone through Jesus Christ.

    @JESUS CHRIST is King of Kings How many times is that brought up by people? I don't know when he said this and I don't agree with it at all. But many good teachers err in one or two points, but a false teacher is someone consistently teaching false doctrines in practically every area. Read Romans 16:17-18, 1 Timothy 6:3-5, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Peter 2, and Jude about the consistent signs of a false teacher. Just bringing up one point of contention doesn't make a person a rank heretic. Do you judge your own understanding and application of scripture by the same standard you judge Dr. MacArthur? Do you have every single doctrine in the scriptures correct yourself?

    @Pk Amponn Pk Amponn Good question. I had spent many years scouring the Scripture for instructions on "how to get "born-again", "again", after having lost salvation. So, I understand the fear involved as this question was not a theological "gotcha" question to myself, but a terror for my eternal soul. I can assure you that the amount of time studying Scripture and knowing Who God is and when, how, and by Who salvation has been secured are worthy of getting an answer too. Call them on their 24/7 line, please. I am always ready to explain via e-mail if you or anyone believes that "being saved=not making it to heaven" I'm not being sarcastic, but, that, ultimately, is the bald statement of fact: if a person goes to hell, by definition, that person was never saved from hell at any time. I think most people question is if they can be assured that they have been made alive in Christ by the act of God determined before Time itself was created by the Creator God=Father, Son, Holy Spirit via election. Please call. Really. Don't let this go unanswered as did I for many years. Honestly, I am suspicious of people who have told me I can "lose" Eternal life, as I am 100% convinced that if I could lose my salvation, become un-born-again unto eternal life, then I would lose heaven. If it's based on me making myself sinless in this mortal body, during this time in the flesh, I'm doomed to hell. God knows, my deepest new desires are to overcome all that dishonors Him and daily repent. gift.ligonier.org/1117/final-word

    @Pk Amponn May I suggest reading John 6:35-44 and 10:24-30. Jesus makes it clear for us that salvation and forgiveness of our sins is indeed permanent. 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Romans 4:20-25 show us that on the cross, our sins were credited to (imputed to, counted unto) Christ, and the righteousness of God was credited/imputed to us. All of our sins were placed on Him at Calvary. We are meant to grow in the knowledge and the grace of Christ (2 Peter 3:17), but we may sin along the way. 1 John 1:8 - 2:2 is helpful to know we can receive forgiveness for our present sins, as well. Much grace and peace to you!

    Sundown Sam I agree. As a preacher and teacher of the word myself I understand that no one person contains full knowledge of all scriptures. It’s great when we can band together as brothers in the Lord and share things in a bold yet loving way. Thanks so much for taking time to share this with me. As teacher and preacher it will give me something to study I may have missed. It’s why we need to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and band together as Men ordained by God to teach. So thanks for sharing. May the Lord bless and keep you and I will look into this scripture. I haven’t paid close attention to his take on this scripture. Give me time stamp on this video where he states his view on the scripture and also send me again the scriptures references. I will do some homework on this concern you have shared. I am still thankful for men like this regardless of the imperfection in there speech and our limited human knowledge which he says all the time in other interviews. Sometimes he says he doesn’t know. Which I admire a man that says he doesn’t know. Not so much them man that claims to know all. Them I am careful of. You have to remember we are all imperfect and no one person has full revelation of the scriptures because our human minds are so limited. Almost as if God designed it that way with mysteries to make us band together as men of God to learn from each other through the Holy Spirit. Maybe in time he’ll either have your understanding or you’ll have his based on what the actually text is saying and what scriptures is saying as whole from genesis to revelation. In my experience knowing everything from genesis to revelation helps me to understand all texts better. Meaning the over all context of the word. I am still happy there is a life like him. Very few men like this still alive regardless of theological differences we share. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Sincerely, Christopher

    @2timothy23

    I agree, Brent. Free will can rightly be defined as doing whatever you want to sin. In fact, doing whatever a sinner wants would naturally be sinful. There is a misconception that man's will is "free" without any influence or desire. No one has that type of will. Sinful mankind will always choose the thing they desire, love, or think is profitable; and all those things are sinful. Sinful mankind will never choose God in their own nature because Jesus said the sinful world hates Him, God the Father, and Christians in John 15:18-23. Romans 8:5-8 shows that the carnal mind is hostile against God so they can't please God in their sinful flesh. Jesus said no one can come to Him unless the Father draws them in John 6:44. And when Jesus was asked by His disciples, who then can be saved, Jesus told them with man it is impossible in Matthew 19:26 and Luke 18:27. The Bible never describes man's will in terms of being autonomously free; this is particularly true when it comes to sinful man choosing God. In addition, I've asked Christians two questions when they bring up free will. First one is, if mankind has free will to choose Christ in their own ability, do they have the same free will to leave Christ and not return? Second, did Nebuchadnezzar become like an animal of his own free will in Daniel 4:32-33? If the answer to both questions is yes, then that answer to the first question makes John 8:27-30 a lie, and that answer to the second question makes Daniel 4:34-35 a lie.

  • @2timothy23

    @2timothy23

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Pk Amponn Please specifically point to the verse in 1 Corinthians that defines free will in a declarative way. Luke 7:30 doesn't prove a will that is free, but a will that does what it wants; to sin; that is why the Pharisees did all the things they did. They were bound by their sin nature in a self-righteous manner, which is the reason Jesus denounces them brutally in Matthew 23. As for 2 Peter 3:9, so many Christians quote the last part of that verse to "refute" a particular atonement, but they don't quote the whole verse in its context. The words "any" and "all" are known as indirect pronouns. Many times they will refer back to another pronoun in the same or previous sentence. To understand the "any" and the "all," you have to quote the whole verse, which says, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering towards us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The pronoun in this verse is "us-ward," which refers to believers. If you follow the context of 2 Peter 3:1-9, you will know the pronouns are dictated by noun titles. Verse 1 says beloved, which are believers, so the pronouns speak of believers in verses 1-2. Verse 3 gives us the noun of "scoffers," which mean every pronoun from verses 3-7 refers to them (and the scoffers are unbelievers). Verse 8 begins, "But, beloved..." showing us that now the noun are believers again, so the "us-ward" in verse 9 pertains to them, and the indefinite pronouns refers back to the antecedent "us-ward." These are the rules of grammar and context. 2 Peter 3:9 must be taken as a whole statement in its context; God isn't willing that any believers (or ones that believe) should perish, but that all of them should come to repentance. If "us-ward" was "everyone that dwells upon the earth" or "all that ever lived" then you could interpret it in the way you are asserting, but as the verse stands, you can't interpret it that way. Christians many times will quote part of verses or quote verses out of context to make a theological point. Though their motives may be sincere, we can't misquote the Bible because it is God-breathed and sufficient for all believers (2 Timothy 3:16-17) that we must study rightly (2 Timothy 2:15). We would never take sentences or paragraphs out of context in every day writing, so we certainly shouldn't do it with God's holy Word.

    @Pk Amponn if by never losing salvation, you mean that once one has been genuinely born again, they can't be snatched from the hand of God just as it says in John 10:28-29, then yes. If by limited atonement, you mean that the atonement of Christ is only attributed to those who believe and trust in Him just as it says in John 3:16, then yes. God's work in us for salvation is sure and unchanging, and Christ's sacrifice is not attributed to those who don't believe in Him. I also believe in the doctrine of original sin that communicates that our will is that of a fallen creature that cannot choose Him without the regeneration of God just as Jesus says in John 3:3 and just as Paul says in Ephesians 2:1-10.

    I'm trying to keep up with answering the questions with Pastor John and I'm somewhat surprised that I was able to keep up fairly well answering. After six years of listening to Pastor John MacArthur sometimes several times a day I've learned quite a bit about God's Will and scripture. I'm very thankful for Pastor John MacArthur and other great Biblical Scholars like Pastor Chuck Missler and Pastor Derek Prince and Pastor Leonard Ravenhill as well as Pastor R.C. Sproul, Pastor Voddie, Pastor Paul Washer, Pastor Carter Conlon and others. I can't get enough of the word of God and through all these wonderful Pastors and Biblical Scholars I've increased my knowledge exponentially but I must admit I do need to open my Bible more. Praise be to God🙏

    This is the teachings and preaching we have lost today. This is why the early church was so willingly went to the their death without a weaver. They knew the truth about what it cost God to save us in Jesus Christ our Savior. We now love to listen to feel good teaching without any thing that will produce any convection in us for repentance and fear of Almighty God.

    I appreciate John MacArthur's ministry and his love for God's Word. He epitomizes 2 Timothy 4:2; he preaches the Word in season and out. I doubt everyone will agree with everything he says, but I have always found his teaching and preaching consistent and in line with God's Word. And I totally agree with what he said about God's sovereignty at around 44:25; once God illuminates you about that truth you do see it all over scripture. That is what happened to both my wife and me.

    The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom but not the end of it. John tells us that ultimately, God is love and if you have fear in you then you haven't been perfected by love because fear has to do with punishment. The more I know God, the more I love Him and don't fear Him.

    I wrote a book, regarding my first 49 yrs. being here on earth. Very lost in much of its darkest, darkness. While writing this book, I can tell you this, I used Bible scriptures to back up my examples of how Not too live life without knowing and obeying God, as I did. God loves me so much I know this now. He's come alive through me, yes hallelujah, living and coming out through my testimony(s). I've since been forever trying to self publish it, but it's been a me thing, up until about 1 yr ago, when I came to the full conviction that it's Not what I can do... It's what God is doing through me and for me. Amen. Oh yeah, I'm starting another book, as of 2 days ago. God, is Always Good!! It was I who didn't Get It, until I was in my late 40's. I'm now 59 yrs. young! Praise the Lord our Father God and His Son, Jesus Christ and too our comforter the Holy Spirit. Amen! Oh, John MacArthur? God bless you, I'm coming to Sun Valley to see you, too worship with you and your church. This is also, of the Holy Spirit's prompting. An answered prayer. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you about it someday soon.

    At mark 30... limited atonement - nope. It’s Biblical that in Gods sovereign plan He made a way for all and by His decree He will save whoever responds to His gracious invitation. This ability of man to respond to His free gift is not “deeply disturbing “ by any means but consistent with the whole body of the Scriptures. God warns. He pleads. He rewards. He offers. These are all genuine - His words are truth and His offer is to all. What a wonderful Saviour! 1 john 2:2

    44:48. In response to does God give people free will? He states that no, we are not given the free will to get out of sin, but we must "cry for the mercy and grace of God to extract you by his own sovereign love and power." Now wait a minute....that sounds a lot like someone making a choice. The salvation is a gift, yes. And it is not earned, of course. But according to Dr. MacArthur's own words, a person can indeed ask for it or choose to receive it. That is free will.
