Ashlin Parker getting his new Lotus Trumpet

Музыка

Ashlin Parker:
"Adam, this horn seriously changes the game. I am not even working half as hard as I was! You put the 'Play' back into playing the trumpet. The perfect lead horn that actually has a sound..."

@@jazzdorefree194 Hey, just saw this comment! I started playing last year at age 36. Lessons a couple of times a month and practice nearly everyday. I just recently made a breakthrough and I'm really happy with my progress so far! My expectations are very low because the trumpet is such a challenging instrument. I'm in no rush. I'd just like to be able to stand on a street corner someday in New York City and make a few dollars, just for the fun of it. Maybe play in an amateur jazz trio. I'm so inspired by your story! I fell in love with the trumpet a few years ago but told myself it was an impractical choice of instrument for a hobbyist, and so I started to learn piano. But then one day I just realized, no godammit, I want to play the trumpet! Found a teacher that week and have been taking lessons ever since! Couldn't be happier, every minute is pure joy! I can't believe you are practicing so much! How do your chops handle it?

@@adamf.4823 Nice story glad you also found that wonderful instrument ! I started on Piano around the age of 24, studied 1st 4 years classical music, i got pretty good at this and could play some Chopin and Bach and more contemporary pop music like Einaudi and Yiruma etc. But, eventually everyone can do that or be good at reading a sheet paper. Not that it is all easy or Les. I don't want to downgrade classical music or so. But you don't actually Play an instrument, you play a written score and that's basically it. So i lost my drive to play classical stuf...But my main goal was to play Blues Piano though, i thought i might need a good foundation so i started with classical Piano. Then i went to a Jazz school and got more exited about Jazz, i never listened to that music but it opened me up to a whole other world... Anyways, that school wasn't all that fun or really good quality so i thought i'm going to study this by my self. I'm still practicing by my self but around the age of 30 i switched to trumpet so now i playing the trumpet for about 3 years and i'm glad i started on Piano, translating to the trumpet makes things much easier. I want to be really good but indeed, The trumpet is very challenging! 3 years of playing almost every day but stil scratching the surface xD It's going to take the rest of my life !! With Piano you can sit down and practice for hours but not with the trumpet, even if you really want to xD

@@adamf.4823 I'm glad to hear that you've had a breakthrough. I haven't had one since I was in school. I have detached from the idea of getting any better. I'll just hang on to what I got at this point, unless I find something along the way.
