Southgate should have been using the new generation of players in the friendlies etc instead kept using the older players and then randomly picks albeit good choices, players that haven't had much game time together before getting into this tournament.

Faye is just repeating what rice said about trying too hard a week or so ago, maybe against Denmark that was the case but not in general. Gareth came out after the game and said he never felt like at any point we were going out, that tells me that he can not see what is right in front of him, by the time he’s reacted it’s too late, he’s a deer in the headlights spending his time waiting to get knocked out rather than thinking how he can prevent it. I love England and I hope we win this tournament but this manager is holding us back! No tactics, no decision making, no BALLS! Time for change after the euros, win or lose…

Amazing how some people still believe that this England team can win the tournament! One of the remarkable moments of the game when they tried hard to play from the back and even the goalkeeper tried to push but there was no option and they kept in the back for a noticeable time. The team is tactically lost, as simple as this. Add to this the inability of GS to impact the game by the changes concludes that this team cannot win the tournament.

"They should OF been rested" - Really TALK SPORT?? "would of" ?? .... you may want to employ someone with a basic English qualification.

It’s not rocket science why Spain have been this good so far, they have the most dominant midfielder on the planet, in front of him technical players with vision who can play through the lines quick wingers & selfless striker who runs endlessly despite maybe not being that clinical, English has played their most technical player out wide & even Palmer is stuck out wide in favor of not very technical 10

It’s getting so frustrating to have an Eng camp (inc Faye) so defensive over the criticism. We have enough of this in politics! We watch these players all year long. I think a lot of us still fully believe in the players, but we can literally see it all unfolding: Great players are being stifled under tactics and a system that doesn’t benefit them or allow them to play to their strengths; as Southgate is a huge level below their club managers. He keeps on getting found out, tactically. He was a minute & a flash of individual genius away from going out to Slovakia. He’s lost against any half-decent side. And when we can see such great options to change a game left on the bench… it raises valid questions over his ability to change the outcome of a game. There were multiple changes he could have made, keeping Kane & Bellingham. He got lucky & we’ll get found out. The PR job when Southgate came in made a good change. But we’re in a different place now. So it’s now empty. He’s simply reached his ceiling and we are all seeing it. Rather than trying to change, he has just been digging in and creating a defensive PR push back. Acting like it’s going to plan… No! The plan is wrong!! You can literally see that in the games. We need a manager who can make the most of brilliant players, who we want to see at their best and get behind. Regardless of the results. We’re better than this. I think a better manager will expose GS as tactically inept in future. As I still fully believe in the players to do great things. (Sorry. I blame Southgate for the long rant… 😅)

With the greatest respect to Faye as a woman, you clearly don't know about Football, you just report on it - there's a difference. Now let me school you: When you are a goal down in the knockout phase of a tournament, the first thing you need to do is change the dimension of the team. You do that by making at least TWO substitutions at the beginning of the second half, that will give you a full 45 minutes to change the trajectory of the game. I guarantee, that had Southgate done that yesterday, England would have equalised within the fiirst 15 minutes and would have gone one to win and close out the game in the normal time (90 minutes). It was only a stroke of luck that enabled Bellingham to be in the right place at the right time to score that wonder goal . I believe in the axiom that you "make your own luck" in life, because proverbial lady luck is somewhat finite, in that it has to run out at some point.

Faye as deluded as the England squad and manager. This England team were very lucky there to get through. We played awful for 45mins and he didnt make a change at half-time, incredible! He only changed when the injury came. I'm happy we won but i was shocked because for 94mins I could I only see us going out.

We simply won't win the tournament playing this way and with southgate not changing anything like a frozen lemming on the sidelines. Everyone is frustrated because we just want southgate to learn but he is too stubborn and dismissive to listen to the voices! We were incredibly lucky last night, simple as that. We won't be allowed to have luck against the swiss or any better teams as it will be too late.

Bellingham and Kane will deliver us the euros we have the easiest route to the final with piss easy teams

I've actually been saying this for a while. Counter attacking football would suit this squad and that's ole's philosophy.
