Oh wow, my grandma rented this cake tin to make a birthday cake for my uncle when I was child. What a blast from the past! Can you still rent cake tins from libraries? Would make a cool series

I must admit that I haven't watched Barry in a little while but I've gotta say I really enjoyed this video. It's nice to see Stuart pop up and the little cameo of Eli (and to a degree) Paul at the end. I can't believe how much the mould worked!

Brilliant! Turned out so well you made a great job of the decoration, the manufacturer adding the eyes and nose was genius though it really adds so much to it.

Tip: If you need a fast way of making grass just drop a few drops of green food colouring into a plastic sandwich bag and add coconut. Make sure your wee bag is closed before squeezing the bag of coconut and add more drops if needed. Quick and easy.

Garfield doesn't like Monday's because that's the day John goes back to work and he has to put up with Oddie more. Love your cake and lasagne, so fun. Garfield would scoff that and pat his belly happily

Very cool! Our local library has a group of cake molds (about 50+) that can be borrowed like any book or CD or whatever. Maybe I'll try one? Fun!

I had a Garfield cake for my 6th birthday. It was a laid down mold on top of a round cake, but it had a similar plastic eye set.

I read a theory that Garfield doesn't like Mondays because that's when Jon goes back to work so he's all alone at home.

Love it! I watched Garfield when i was a little girl, i have Garfield slippers at the age of 43. Really enjoyed this video Barry. Eli made a great point about Garfield hating Mondays! hahaha! never even thought about the fact he is a cat and has no reason to hate Mondays.

That cake is adorable! But that lasagne bordered on animal cruelty. What a versatile tin! 😉

This reminds me of the cake my sisters and I had every year for our birthdays when we were little. My Mum had a wilton cake tin in the shape of a bear and she would decorate it by piping tiny stars in different coloured buttercream. This has brought up so many lovely memories of my Mum who us sadly no longer with us, so thanks for the memories Barry xxx

I had this pan as a kid...I loved it. I used to bake in it when I was 10 or 11.

Aw man I used to love Garfield! I'm old enough to remember when it was a comic strip instead of a cartoon. I want that cake tin!! A marble cake would work well to make the cake more interesting in the middle.

Lasagna from the cake pan, Garfield would approve. It is a cute cake pan. My daughter has dozens of those shaped pans by Wilton. She hangs them on the walls of her kitchen. And they all use that stars tip to decorate them. And the kids love them.

The melted icing on the decapitated Garfield lasagna is a MOOD. 😂

I learned cake decorating in the '80s in 4h. I did one of those and several other similar tins. We always greased and then coated the tin with flour for release. You put a crumb coat on first before you pipe. We did all buttercream, no fondant.

Oh my heavens. I had this as a birthday cake in the early 90's! Not to totally date myself but I was a teen.

This was manufactured the same year I was born! Ah, the memories of my favourite shows...Garfield, My Little Pony, The Raccoons, Sherah and Heman! Oh rhe childhood memories lol My childhood cake memory is a barbie doll top sticking out of a round cake base that was decorated like a dress 👗 with icing. I think i still have a picture of it. I wish I had this cake!

My mum made me a raggedy Ann cake like this for my first birthday in the 80s and she said it took forever to ice it but she was proud of how it turned out and apparently I loved it.

I remember seeing these for sale in the Sears catalog, back when they were still a thing. Ah, memories...

I do remember stuff like that in the early 90s, my mum was quite into baking and was still often in touch with a family she was a nanny for and the mother was a published cookbook author and worked for magazines and the like (chances are if you look at UK stuff from back then you'll see her work but not putting her name here for privacy), when you see the work they do though you sorta get why things get so expensive vs just buying something from a supermarket.

When I was 6 years old my auntie made my birthday cake from this exact mould!! And it fell over just as I was about to blow out my candles 😂

We made these Wilton Brand 3d cakes all the time when I was a kid (in the 80s and 90s). I believe my mom still has all the pans at her house.

We had the garfield christmas and thanksgiving specials recorded on VHS (along with beauty and the beast) and we would watch them all the time as kids. I still watch the christmas special every year and the ending still chokes me up.

You can also use bread dough for a savory twist. Garlic bread cat loaf alongside spaghetti? My mom used to own a lot of these special-shaped cake tins from Wilton.

I always love the positive vibes from this channel.

you could soak wooden washing pegs or small wooden pegs in water instead of the bulldog clips then wrap them in abit of foil to stop them scortching (if you dont have bull dog clips at home) nice cake, i seem to remember my mum making something like this in the 90s 😊

I have the Wilton's Panda cake tin. I made a panda cake once for a friend's birthday and she thought it was so beautiful she wouldn't cut it. It eventually got thrown out.

I LOVE THIS VIDEO!! I NEED THIS CAKE MOLD! I have made one of those 3D-cakes for my god-daughter for her 1st birthday- a duck. It was nerve-racking pouring cake batter with clips holding the halves together- but it worked and since then, been decorating cakes for friends' and their children. The Teddy Bear is fun- I made a baby Winnie the Pooh for a friend's baby shower, made a koala and panda from the bear mold as well. You did good job piping and yes- your hands do get sore. And loved with Mrs. B said that Garfiels IS A Cat , when you said at 8:08- 'it looks like a cat'- LOL

When Barry was putting the brown lines on, I was like, "That doesn't look anything like Garfield." Then once the eyes were on - boom.

Fun fact. Bob Ross and Garfield were both residents of Muncie Indiana. Ross did a lot of his painting at Ball State's TV Studio and Garfield is created by Jim Davis (Ball State Grad) and was created at Paws in Muncie until recently.

I had a carebear cake made for me with a similar mould in around 1985. Must have been a thing in 1980's.

My mom did that exact cake for me as a kid, as well as R2D2 and Cookie Monster.

Further proof that Mr Lewis is a master baker, as is Ashens by default.

Instead of using butter to grease these older pans you should use solid shortening instead of butter and then follow up with the flour. Pro baker tip. When my mom had her bakery we used to make a pan coat...it had solid Crisco, a little liquid crisco and flour. we could kust paint it on the tins/pans. We rarely had anything stick to the pan.

I thought that you would fill in both sides, bake them, then attach with frosting.
