You can tell hundreds of years passed since the first asdfmovie. Noses used to be outlawed in that universe, punishable by death even, and so much time has passed, nobody really remembers what a nose is anymore. The old joke, however, still remained, showing perfectly how humans cling onto outdated, irrelevant traditions that they no longer even understand.

No, this is the one which breaks the cycle. They finally realise the flaw in the joke, freeing them from this infinite comedic hell, in which their lives are jokes for other’s enjoyment. They experience death and pain only for it to be repeated over and over again. Those two, have freed them all.
