It never aired after courage. Courage is on Cartoon Network, This was always after the last show on adult swim. Usually it was Case Closed, Gigantor, Cartoon Planet, Mr. T, Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos, Super Globetrotters, Gary Coleman, Voltron, Astro Boy, Inuyasha and Home Movies.

I remember not even being worried to stay up for over 36 hours. Now I don't fall asleep at exactly 12 AM and get an anxiety attack, worrying about Fatal Insomnia.

THIS IS THE REAL REASON THIS BUMP IS NO LONGER USED.... [adult swim] used The Dawn Is Your Enemy as their sign off bumper, but the real reason (not the creepypasta version) that the bump is no longer aired is because nothing about this bump tells you that [adult swim] is signing off and switching back to Cartoon Network. Adults watching [adult swim] may have no idea when [adult swim] signed off and what they're watching instead is Cartoon Network and kids walking up for school and trying to catch the beginning of Cartoon Network may have no idea that they're watching the end of Adult Swim, not to mention the fact that if kids wake up early to watch the beginning of Cartoon Network and watch too soon and accidentally see The Dawn Is Your Enemy sign off bump (meant to scare away kids from watching [adult swim]), they'll turn off the TV after being frightaned, scaring away early viewers of Cartoon Network. That's why there is a new sign off (the national anthem version) nowadays. In the early days of t.v, broadcast stations didn't air during the early morning hours (from 11pm-5am) so right before signing off for the day, they played the national anthem and said the classic line "This concludes our brodcast day". So, after Cartoon Network complain about their frightened and/or scared away early veiwers and [adult swim] realizing the pointlessness of having The Dawn Is Your Enemy as a sign off bumper, they replaced it. I guess [adult swim] decided on using the classic TV sign off as its replacement. So if your scared if the creepypasta and are scared of The Dawn Is Your Enemy, don't be, your safe. All fun and games until you win the staring contest

So you have this picture, which is supposed to be a peaceful grassy landscape with some flowers and a sun peaking above the horizon. Being in black and white, it has this old nostalgic feel to it. It's realistic, so you forget it's related to cartoons at all. But then there's the overly detailed eyes, looking off into the distance. The sun has an eerie face. It's a weird picture. But then there's THE DAWN IS YOUR ENEMY, which changes the tone. Suddenly, the eyes are weary and tired because something is wrong. They're scared of the Dawn. The Dawn that approaches while the noises in the background start to get clearer. The sounds of machinery? Perhaps ambience. Chanting? You can't quite tell. But it builds and builds as the morning approaches. You can't stop it as you can make out the sounds to be people. And you realize the eyes can't see you. They cant see the sun; they're too tired to see anything. But the sun is looking directly at you. It knows you're there. It's a still picture that hasn't moved or done anything in over a minute besides tell you that the dawn is your enemy. Finally you can clearly hear the sounds of people, who start to scream in terror from something you can't see - before it cuts out to colorbars, leaving you there, staring at the screen... It's so good, but it wouldnt work without every single piece there. Without the sun looking directly at you, or the overly tired eyes, or the screaming noises, it falls apart. But they work together very well. Also the sun winking at the end is Adult Swim saying "Yes we are trying to scare you, enjoy the nightmares." Which pulls some of the punch by acknowledging that it's just a bump meant to mess with you. But also the sun just moved in a still picture, which itself is scary lol.

The, the image shows up, except the text reads "The Dawn Is Your Frenemy". Eventually, a red balloon floats up the screen, and the sun winks, just like the creepypasta, then text appears saying "[not sure it's working]" and it ends. For a short time during September, to honor Adult Swim's anniversary, they used the original.

As someone that delt with insomnia, I remember staying up and watching this. Being in a state of mind of exhaustion, I knew this was creepy but it never effected me that much. Looking back at it now thou. Wow this is terrifying.

I remember this bumper when I was younger, I would accidentally wake up early enough for adult swim to still be on, and typically I would have a hard time falling back asleep so I'd just watch whatever was on at the time, I remember how when I saw this I would be frozen in front of the tv petrified in fear because of this. This is what made me scared of watching adult swim when I was younger.

Some could say this is creepy, but I agree with those that love this. In my opinion, this is art. The image, the background music, it's all so inspirational to me. Then again, never watched AS as a child, lived in Norway and it's only now, in the past 2 years, that I actually know what it is and enjoy what they show.

I just had this image recommended to me through a nostalgia video. And when I searched the image I found the full bump I watched as a child growing up. This absolutely terrified me beyond anything else in my life. I somehow forgot about it for almost 10 plus years. Seeing this really scared me even as an adult.. watching it as an adult my mind had completely forgot about how terrified I was as a kid in 2007... my eyes started to water as I listen to the audio. I remember seeing this bump on Adult Swim every morning before Cartoon Network came back on. This bump always use to creep me out and leave me on edge. After seeing this version, It still creeps me out to the point where I actually jumped when the color bars came on, it's like I was expecting a jumpscare.

Considering I have seen the whole bumber on my TV, it didn't really give me nightmares until my age now that I've seen it again. It's hard for me not to remember what happened that night. I was just causally watching a regular children CN carton before the struck of 9 or 8 hit (I'm not quite sure when the program ended since this was years ago) after that, I had seen the short 9 second bumber, not the full one. The TV show I was watching was similar scare factor, so I thought of it as a "special ending". After that I kept on seeing the bumber after the children's nextwork had ended. I got more intrigued into hearing more the bumber or if it was a TV show since I was still developing the concept of this whole bumber. Bad idea. I can't remember the exact date the 2 minute bumber came out, but I heard and saw it. Horrified. It's also true that the sun does wink at you. I took a pictures of the TV on my DS...but they've been missing ever since I went to sleep. - Olivia

What was the show in question?

I swear this sounds so much like it's from Plague inc. the eerie nature of it, the piano playing the same notes in intervals and the screams getting louder and more makes it sound like it came from the game

Reminds me a little of my grandad’s 18th century grandfather clock, a genuine antique. It had creepy cherub-like faces showing the phases of the moon and a lot of weird art on the clock face. It used to chime every hour, adding a bong each time. When it chimed downstairs for midnight, I knew it was past my bedtime and it freaked me the heck out. This perfectly encapsulates that feeling of being up late as a kid, the whole world against you, monsters around every corner and under every bed, and the creepy moon peeking out from the clockface much like the sun in this video

I know for fact this is very much real this bumper used to show up after Adult Swim was finish for the night and before cartoon network comes back on. I have no idea what people say its fake I guess nobody stayed up to watch all of Adult Swim back in the day lol

Creepypasta people exaggerated about it i think but i remember seeing this 9 second bump every day before Pokemon and Code Lyoko came on. I also remember it going on long sometimes but not like 2 minutes long.

Alexander Pedersen It came on right as adult swim ended though... and as a kid i loved this bump :P It was mysteriously unsettling and I would always try to see if there was some secret image hidden in the leaves or flowers or something.

I'm honestly almost sure I remember this happening when I was in 5th grade

This suppose to scare kids from watching adult swim after the last show went off before cartoon network airs again during dawn

Makes me feel like I'm a slave on the farm in the 1820s, and I wake up an hour before everyone else does. I can't move around, for fear that I wake the master's dog and get us all in trouble. Instead I think about the horrors that await me when the sun finishes coming up over the horizon

I legit didn’t watch adult swim until my teens in fear of this popping up again 😂

I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. I then went and rented a projector in a big field and my entire town watched it and it changed their lives too. We all are so grateful. Thank You for this video….

I think the biggest problem I have with this is that I saw this regularly when I was waiting for early morning transformers cartoons. Never actually saw it as creepy until I found it now.

I figured this was trying to say "you stayed up all night watching AS. Now you gotta pay for it." Of course this only applies to people with job or school. My lazy ass just went to bed.

imagine if all monitors around the world, powered or unpowered, on or off, started displaying this all at the same time

I love it. I love things that frighten me. As a kid I saw this in its entirety before CN came on early in the morning at 6am or something. It freaked me out, but it had the opposite reaction on me than the channel wanted, haha. I always hoped I would catch it again late at night, so I would continue my all-nighters. Pretty sure I was able to see it a couple more times. Love Adult Swim. Miss the old bumpers, but still watch it regularly. Really glad I grew up with it and was able to witness this before it was cut permanently.

they brought this bumper back like 2 days ago (no I'm not kidding) and cartoonito (cartoon networks upcoming preschool block) also starts next week. Let's just say if they keep this bumper until then, we'll have a new generation of traumatized children

When I was 4 to 6 I watched AS a lot in my grandpa's room while he was asleep. One time the dawn is your enemy came on and I just started crying and slept with gramps

One time I watched this upload, and that same day at night, I got sick. Thanks a lot AS.

why did I think watching this at dawn was a good idea.

It's so weird. Cause I don't usually get creeped out by stuff like this. But this video makes me feel really uneasy for some odd reason. My eyes get all watery. I get chills and goosebumps. I get this heavy feeling around me. Terrifying 😂

God, I remember this. After I saw it the first time, I was like... "Well, that was weird." It only appeared twice like around 11-ish which was the first time and the second/last time at 3 o'clock. It became just plain creepy and I had to turn on the lights for a bit. Whenever this came on AS... I had to mute the TV. Ahhh. good times.

I was in fourth grade when I saw this for the first time at night, and while it did slightly creep me out, it sure as hell didnt stop me from watching robot chicken and super jail.

Extraordinary. If a band ever decided to make this bumper their album cover, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

something about distorted ringing and granular sketches of human features seems to horrify tons. But this in my opinion is art.

This reminds me of the book 1984 and I have no idea why.

When I was a kid this use to come on because the Adult Swim programming had ended which I believe was either 5 or 6AM. Idr, but it was only shown right before the normal cartoon programming would start. I use to stay up all night often watching the reruns. It made sense because it was telling you the dawn was your enemy which would usually mean bedtime in my case.
