I'd bet money that one of the services Dr. Shivetsky provides is nerve blocks/radiofrequency ablation to allow the athletes to skate through injury without feeling the pain. It's a standard procedure for Anesthesiology pain-management specialists. An athlete could then wear down her joints without feeling pain due to the sensory nerves being disabled...

True, but as someone who has had epidurals, nerve blocks, facet blocks and nerve ablation, there is a period of flare up (with nerve ablation it’s about 6 weeks) where nerve pain is much worse. So unless they are also given pain meds (which I don’t doubt) it would be difficult to skate through Feb pain. The other methods have a much shorter (2-3 day) flare up period, but the effects also don’t last as long.

Probably and they're also given a LOT of pain meds. Kosto said that at 14, when she was skating with a broken tibia, she had taken so much pain meds that they stopped working on her. She said she swallowed "handfuls" of painkillers at 14!! There was even a rumour she had kidney failure in 2019

I read "The Second Mark" a few years ago and was horrified when I realized that the double gold medal was really the solution to avoid further investigations which nobody wanted.

Thanks Dave for shining light where others fear to even look. Skating is such a beautiful sport and hopefully the governing body can get its act together to ensure fairness in scoring/judging and to truly ban doping amongst the amateur athletes.

Love it!! No-one spills the beans like you, Dave!! And you'd be surprised what people will watch. Nothing drives up ratings like controversy and scandal.

The Russians follow their own rules. I am just sick of seeing child abusers. What about athletes that had letters on them. Do we call them neutral?

Sotnikova scores increased grossly during the olympics. Her PCS and technical was at its highest it's ever been for her. Such improvement in scores takes years. Shortly after the olympics, she was never seen again 🤣

@@user-lv6eq7mq9d she never got married immediately. She tried competing the following year and didn't receive any medals. The corruption was too obvious. Yuna Kim could never receive silver.

I always found it curious that both Daniil G. and Alexander Kogan delayed their travel to Beijing due to reasons of Covid. When the positive test came out, that timing suddenly seemed a bit more than coincidence? Also, Kogan had arranged for all three skaters to be exempted from the 3- week quarantine due to their ages at the time. Again, in hindsight it seems perhaps possibly not just due to concern over vaccine safety or enforcing it in minors? Thank you for your diligence, Dave and Jonathan.

I also want to see Team GB win silver, Italy, Brazil or Japan win bronze in the Women’s Team competition in Paris. These sports are amazing to watch without Russia polluting it with their doping and cheating judges.

I don't think valieva purpurposefull falled she was the one having a mental breakdown while skating, if shervakoba is unnispired trusova is worse, she only got in the podium because she is a jumping machine

Announcing someone's given birth, before they themselves have feels tacky and like crossing a line. That's not journalism, that's not needed information. Speculate once announced sure, but to break news before she has? Grim.
