AS Pure Maths I in 30 minutes

This is a quick revision video for Edexcel Pure Maths. Other boards AQA, WJEC have the same syllabus so this will be ok for these students too. This video covers indices, surds, quadratics, inequalities, sketching graphs, lines and circles, factor theorem and binomial expansion in under 25 minutes. The remainder of the course is covered in AS Pure Maths II in 30 minutes.

    L1 has the equation y = 4x/5 + 2. S is the point where L1 crosses the x-axis, therefore y = 0. Substitute y = 0 for y = 4x/5 + 2. 4x/5 = -2. 4x = -10. x = -10/4 = -2.5

haii if you're talking about the IAL Pearson Edexcel one, the P1 (pure mathematics 1) book as well as P2 (pure mathematics 2) are considered AS, and then P3 and P4 for A2/A-levels. They are 4 different books.. 2 for each level with a combination of mechanics (M1) or statistics (S1) but that depends on your school or educational system so ask your teacher to make sure about this

    In general, to solve a^x = k, you take log(to the base a) of both sides, which gives x log(base a) a = log(base a)k, as log(base a) a = 1, then x = log(base a) k. In this case you can see what x must be by observation as in earlier comment.
