Between the lines. People are now greatly educated to know what between the lines is, where a journalist comes from. And if that is the pattern, one gets to know where the journos biases are.

Barkha ji wanted to set the tone in a "particular" way, and then came the shocker from Madhu Trehan ji 😂
I don't see how anyone in journalism fails to have a crush on Madhu Trehan, even at 77. What a legend. Speaks eloquently and with such authority, and as someone has mentioned below, on credibility and intregrity she is unparalleled.

I agree. Rather how anyone fails to have crush on Madhu, even at 77 💘
Barkha, you took Padma Shree from Govt in 2007-8 and ofcourse it wasn't free, in lieu of it you ran the story in NDTV for hours that Narendra Modi, (the sitting CM of Gujarat at that time and had not FIR filed against him) is going to be arrested. Your contribution to journalism is that u added new journalism infamously called RADIA JOURNALISM. Please desist from taking high moral ground and talking ill for the party you always spewed venom.
When Madhu Trehan talked about Nehru started the process of gagging the Media, Barkha Dutt swiftly tried to deflect her attention away at the 29th Minute. That was a key moment.

Barkha is a sycophant of Nehru Gandhi clan.
Thanks for bringing this awesome person. I was always curious where is this lady! I fondly remember collecting the newstrack VHF cassette from my news vendor....it would make half round of the small hill town after my family watched it! Some enterprising people would even feature screen in VDO parlours to attract more clients for the raunchier shows!! Nice nostalgia!!
Always LOVE the candour and simplicity of Madhu Trehan in her logic and explanation

Wish Barkha learns something from Madhu Trehan whose integrity is in stark contrast to her's.
Lovely seeing an interview with Madhu Trehan after a long time! She certainly hasn’t changed one bit 👏 hopefully we get to see more of her. I have been Living overseas for the past several decades and I clearly recall anxiously waiting every month for the Newstrack videos from my neighborhood video library!
Gotta love Madhu, she always makes so much sense.
I just have one qq for Madhu , what sekhri and the current news laundry portal is doing is it journalism? That too unbiased? Are any of those clowns can be called journalists?
I listened to this because of Madhu. Great journalist. And I am glad that she is no more associated with Newslaundry which is now just a laundry. Her statement that Indira was not educated was stunning.
Madhu Trehan has re-invented herself. She is also stoic and grand saying that many people don't recognize her at the India Today conclave. Barkha Dutt seems so disappointed when Madhu says "the Govt.has also done good things and talks about village kids with school bags, using clean village toilets.....!!!!!! immediately asks what has the Govt. done wrong! Further Madhu enhances her persona taking back her statement on education and educated leaders.Further she does'nt allow Barkha to fire from her shoulder.
This looks like unbiased views and balanced views. Loved it .. unfortunately we don’t have journalists like this before . Either you have a Arnaub or an Arfa… intelligent people need intelligent journalists ..

Thanks Barkha for bringing in such a fearless & unbiased journalist ; at the same time her evolution - story from a woman to a struggling journalist , her long journey from ' News track ' away till 'Times Of India Magazine '& NewsLaundry' journalism, through your brilliant interview in 'Outside In' podcast. Great for her tips to the current story - writers of the dailes as to how to make a controversial issue to deal with to present in a more credible way, such as - in a more lucid & simplistic communication, remaining far from direct exposition, being economic while dealing a super sensitive issue,; not addressing any political party- involvement , & finally, being unbiased of personal preferences to particular caste, creed or religion while in journalism - spirit & all.
There are many cases in the non bjp states which are not reported by people like you leftists so what is good journalism? Without being biased report the news irrespective of political ideology because that is supposed to be personal . There is thin line between profession and politics you people have forgotten that so first practise yourself and then hive lecture
Completely agree with Madhu on her perpective on the #MeToo movement. Appreciate Madhu's views on challenges she has faced, be it for being a women or otherwise.
I watched the entire 45min interview with Yakub. Madhu Trehan was almost as aggressive as Arnab would be on his primetime show. Nobody would have called her out if she did the same interview today.
Mick Jagger seems to be talking sense. pity we dont have more journalists like her.

There was never a golden time for Media.
Both didn’t shy away from discussing controversial topics but at the same time didn’t sensationalize them. Thank you for making us listen to an insightful conversation
Brilliant interview. Loved it. Am not a fan of yours Barkha but I know there's something in you that makes you a great journalist.
Thank you Barkha for interesting dialogue with Madu. Only request is to have a English subtitle for non-English part. Not all of your viewers understand fully.
I haven't kept up with Madhu's journalism career, but based on this interview, it seems being part of the 'elitist' cabal is a challenging 'choice’, because it undermines your credibility and integrity. I also share Madhu's view that there's a lack of in 'field' journalism nowadays. I also reject the notion that people prefer a 'shouting match' between panelists. Absolutely on point! Lastly, I agree that employing subtlety in writing can be a savvy strategy. Some might see it as cautious, but it's actually about trusting your audience to decode your message while still conveying the point. Her practical approach is refreshing, and I appreciate her frankness too! ❤
There was no social media...so people have got an opportunity to judge the journalist..it is a two way street now
Thank you, Madhu Trehan for speaking to a younger woman on Me Too !! How I agree with you on many things & how to take life without grudges n moving on ! Yes, wrong infuriates but dust off n move. Sharing with my girls 😊
Historical injustices must be...must need to be corrected. Only that way can a civilization survive. What amazes me is that so many people just dont understand that. Or may be...its something else.
Wow what a wonderful interview. She is so intelligent than all today’s journalists put togeather.
The beginning of this talk is like "If aunty had moustaches then, she'd be called uncle"
A very balanced view as a journalist. Really admire Madhu who is talking about integrity which is a rarity nowadays. Very candid and transparent views and statements from Madhu. "Me too should not become against all men." Not everybody can say rhis.
Barkha your indifferent & dismissive reaction on Sayed Modi's death was heart breaking

Good interview, Saw Madhu Trehan for the first time, She comes across as Honest and Intelligent, unlike Barkha who is eloquent but Always comes out as Fake and Dishonest.

Barkha sounds fake and biased most of the time
When a journalist becomes a celebrity he or she ceases to remain a journalist. Madhu barkha are examples
A excellent interview. Please give us more such contents on different topics.
Thanks Barkha for bringing such luminaries on your show. Wonderful discussion.
With regards to the #MeToo movement, what Madhu is trying to say is the Media running away with tweets made by so-called accusers without proper investigation by the journalists which results in Defamation. That's what I think Madhu was trying to get at.
Salute Madhu Trehan my respect for her has gone up many folds not because of anything because I didn’t know her. Thanks for this @BarkhaDutt
2 Elite Class Women. India Vs Bharat. 😕
Finally, after a long time, something of quality coming from Barkha. More thanks to Madhu I suppose. She (Madhu) was something else.
Oh Barkha you are an anjel,I was dying to hear Madhu I have been her ardent fan Thankyou
There is no ban on Barkha and MoJo Story. Congress-communist-muslim alliance have given certificate to Barkha and MoJo Story as Pidi media. Congratulations Barkha ! Well Done. Enjoy the imported Pidi biscuits.
Finally, a journalist who seems brave enough to hold her own and does her research and the hard work to be a fine journalist: Madhu Trehan, you´re missed... maybe you need to run a school of journalism
In India journo interview with criminal / terrorist u r great If blindly lashes on Modi then neutral If baselessly support muslims then secular If boycott others then freedom if boycotted then oppression
Great seeing Madhu after a long time. Wishing her great health ❤
There are soo many instances of agreeing to disagree in such elegant manner.. very nice 👍
Journalists were at some stage aligned....So cute coming from Barkha.
Politicians often offer their own judgements ,without knowing the core truth of issues. While Madhu Trehan's interview of Yakub Memen could be interpreted as Sensational, the reality could lie elsewhere- in hearing the other side of the story.
i just love the respect with which barkha sees her...
one of the most self aware and world aware and empathetic individuals.I think the future of journalism lies in authentic research and storytelling and a unique style of reporter-centered investigation
Barkha definitely knows how to provoke people. She is totally poker…asking difficult questions and getting replies the way she wants .
Madhu that makes you one of a kind 🎉❤
Madhuji you are the one. The truly intelligent one. Honestly. Super articulation to match.
Absolutely adore Madhu!!! She is just amazing, and has always been so ahead of her times! loved the chat between both of them !
Aroon Puri, India Today, is a past shadow of himself in terms his journalism now stands for.He is now on of the chief shycophants of Modi & his govt.
Madhu did not hesitate to state her age .77.Refreshing to say the least.
It's true she was even known in kasmir where from I come & I never missed her News track .Her credibility & integrity is unparalleled ❤
its a lovely conversation. But Barkha start, at some point in time, trying to listen to your interviewee..... rather than arguing with her/them. A true interview is about the guest.
Madhu Trehan is the sister of Arun Purie owner of India Today group.. Madhu Trehan owns Newslaundary which has leftist and pro Congress stand..
This is a very genuine advice. Please either change your mics or tweak the settings of the current ones. The sound is too loud and unclear. I couldn't understand a lot of points. I tried my phone speakers and earphonea as well. Please take some hints from any other good podcast channels.. Normally, I've seen Shure and Rode mics...
Lovely candid discussion….
Why is the audio quality so poor? Why don’t you ask your producers to fix it please?
My take away from this symbiosis is... Maduh, " I don't feel bad!" Do what has to be done, do it right and move on to the next thing... awesome. Thanks ladies.
Contrast the calibre of Madhu Trehans and the old Door Darshan news anchors Rinni Simon , Robin Jind , Tejeshwar Singh , Komal GB Singh and so many more to what we have today ie Suddu Tihari , Arnab Goswami , Chvanke ,Navika Kumar etc . Love Madhu Trehan's directness . The banniya take over of anything usually ends in deception lies and eventually destruction before mooving on the next target . Profit at all costs.
Please continue with these brilliant interviews with yesteryear stalwarts. So interesting... its like why did it end?!!
To the producers, please use a recorder with limiter or use 32 bit recording. The sound is peaking and it is difficult to listen to.
Great conversation.
Jawed Akhtar is a thinker 🤣🤣
Thank you for the video. I thought trehan was no more. Thank you madhu to be so oblique and so to barkha
I am a big fan of yours Madhu Ji ❤
Barkha pls do debate on following Article 25 says freedom of conscience ,freedom to practice religion, freedom to profess religion is guuarnteed but restriction of subject to public order and Morality. Of course what is morality and what is conscience is not defined Now hadeesh of islam is that who ever leaves islam is to be killed, murtad ki saza maut as per haddesh in inslam So now my question is islamic scripture against freedom of conscience of article 25 as it's not moral to kill someone if he just leaves islam as per thier books Hence islam should not be allowed to be propogated or allowed to be propogated. I do not know the answer as of now but need to do research on it.
you guys need a better audio mixer... the mics seem to be good but the audio echo is a lot
Superb, Ms Trehan 🙌🏾
Loving the Meltdown
Thanks, Barkha for bringing Madhu Trehan.
One of the great things going for Madhu is she is her own boss, never have to work for others. That freedom is liberating in her role as journalist.
Nothing has changed. Just that tech has provided a platform. I remember some people being critical of Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai local train 😀
About what Barkha Dutt said about metoo. There is something called due processz that just can't be skipped.
Opinion:- In India journalism can't be revived till the time journalist themselves first admit their wrong doing of past in public. A truth and reconciliation commission 3 party needs to be setup. Govt, Opposition and Journalists...let their be an organised debate without shouting and greveances heard live. The logic behind thought process. The this debate should not to be put anyone down but to find solution... That's the only way i can think of...
Thank Madhu trehan for praising the toilet scheme & the improvement in the rural areas. Such praise is anathema to a lutyens closet communist.
This is an example of how old grandmas used to think for what it is taking so long for women to be on par. Educated women like her used to and still think like that how can we blame those who did not get the opportunity to be educated. Really sad to see this Barkha jee.
Madhu should write on journalism...her memoirs ..these women are pioneers in their fields
@Trollika_Devi
8 ай бұрын
I would love to read her memoirs.
Pardon me for spelling wrong of 'Inside Out ' podcast.
Generational difference between Barkha and Madhu are visible...Madhu comes from a generation where you accept the good and bad about any profession(or gender), Barkha is from Victimhood generation where you lap-up all good and the bad you cry victim. Not judging Barkha, but I like "shutup and get on with it" attitude of Madhu. All the Henry Weinstein victims won oscars and further their careers thru this victimhood..As a man I take this universalisation of men as perpetrators of all exploitation of women personally.
What are the acoustics off?
Thanks Barkha for this Interview!
Thanks
Madhu_Ji is as sharp and articulate as someone half her age at 77. Even today, most renowned Indian journalists cannot compare to her. Ideally, she should keep interviewing important people.
Great to see Madhu Trehan sister of my Boss Arun Puri who used to be my boss in 80’s.
It was a pleasant interview Barkha, thanks
Pro__ Vs Anti __ Fight These Days. No One Is Neutral. 😕
I think the sound quality needs to be improved.
As a founder of Newslaundry, please advise the present NL team to be more neutral, present team is too cynical for a youthful India..be a little bit cheerful and positive about India. I am an educated person who has travelled around the world, NL almost comes across as everything is S..T about India..then it begs me a question...WTF are you guys doing here in India?...I know it is like a "Go to Pakistan" comment..but if my children constantly complain that everything is wrong about our family, then as a parent I would snap and make that comment.
Great to see Madhu Trehan
I didn’t like Madhu Trehan’s interview with Yaqub Memon at all. The reason is she constantly interrupted the interviewee as he attempted to answer her questions. He was not allowed to finish his sentences at all. What is the purpose of interviewing a person if you do not want to listen to his answers.
We saw how Arnab reinvented journalism.😂
How she keeps a straight face when she talks about journalists favouring or getting favoursm has she forgotten radia tapes.
Nice to see both of u
Barkha, there are men who are at the receiving end in marriage who don't walk out because of various reasons. I know many cases.
Madhu Trehan should go to gender sensitization and awareness courses. And no 'woman' is random Trehan. Also, your politics is very clear. Lets stop gaslighting all globally!
Madhu is right about the audience. They can see through the journalists inner agenda.
Where is Madhu. I missed her so much
