LADY WTF Helen hunt sitting on the tub with her back exposed “ BEAUTIFUL LINES OF A WOMAN” Taking the painter into his home. “ you move me” OMG!!!! Great line The dr paying a visit to a poor persons home so they get real medical care….. “ TEARS” The line “ what if this is as good as it gets” I see as a line of determination. If you don’t try harder to solve your issues by doing the hard things then yes it will be as good as it gets BUT he found reasons to try harder and his life is changing. “ WOW”….. Such a good movie.

Very realistic scene. You make the efforts (plural here) to improve your condition, which often leads to ask for help. The response? Worse than indifference. You're being expected to behave/fonction normally, and that's after spending hours and hours explaining that you just don't have the luxury to do so. Not without help.

Fantastic film. It was an instance where the best film that year didn't win the Best Picture Oscar. The film that made a billion dollars did. Some people complain that the Academy Awards don't often reflect public sentiment, but this is probably an example of why that's a good thing. Titanic was a good film, but in hindsight, As Good As It Gets and Good Will Hunting were better written and better acted films. It's just hard to beat a blockbuster romance film with 2 popular young heartthrob actors, a popular director and a memorable soundtrack. I admit, I saw Titanic 3 times in the theatre, mostly just for the painting scene. I was 16 and it was the first time I'd seen anything like that on the big screen. Obviously, this was in the days before such things were readily available for free over the internet and all I had access to at the time was dial up. But I guarantee a film like this could never be made today. Back then, you could show a bigoted character with some redeeming qualities without condoning the negative behaviour. Now, Christians would probably cancel a movie about the bible because it had depictions of the devil and politically correct people want to shut everyone up, regardless of the context. You get it in both ends these days. I miss the 90s, where lunatics on both sides were ignored equally.

Family Guy huh?
Hahahaha, what if this is as good as it gets! And the people's faces after.
Melvin is my hero.
It is, what it is...
The shining always shines ✌️
MAN this movie!!! Watching this OCD guy wash his hands for 2 seconds and throw out whole bars of soap. Ugh That frumpy waitress pickup his fork that he placed near his plate!
My husband has this mild disorder. He counts his steps and when he has misplaced something , he will not stop looking until it is found which means I have to find it for him.
Lucky he's rich to keep throwing away soap after one use
I just realized that the blond woman sitting down at the end is Det. Rush from Cold Case...
Good times, Noodle salad

True. And it is as good as it gets.
Very realistic scene. You make the efforts (plural here) to improve your condition, which often leads to ask for help. The response? Worse than indifference. You're being expected to behave/fonction normally, and that's after spending hours and hours explaining that you just don't have the luxury to do so. Not without help.

Tell ya one thing. Helen Hunt was a babe back in the day.
Waitress-- What's with the plastic picnic wear? Me -- Coronavirus, lady! Oh, and wear a maks! DO YOU WANT ME TO DIE OR SOMETHING??

It's not funny. Do you even know what OCD means? And how miserable they feel in their day to day life? You can't imagine.
I find it so funny when she asks him: "Is this bothering you?" And he says "no". Of course it bothers him otherwise he wouldn't ask her about her son.

She was refering to his reaction while she listed all the details of her ill son. I clearly did bother him. He was getting annoyed. But he got over it Because "she makes him want to be a better man" ;)
Note to Hollywood: good script + good acting = good movie. pandering to the lowest common denominator = s--t movies.
Jack set the standard foreveryone else !
lol he throws his gloves in the trash can
He has very chronic OCD 😂
His OCD infuriates me. Not so much the light switches or locks, but those gloves and the soap. My god, what a waste.

Good looking at one time 😣
Hi. HELP!!!!!
If NY is not good for his health, why not move out?
Hes not even using the soap properly which is irritating.
Lol yikes..
Yet again, another movie about a woman tolerating boorish, nasty, abusive behavior from a man with money. The crumbs of decency are always to offset the huge slices of crap he dishes out. And the women lap it up.
