Hi everyone ! I hope you are all fine ! ^^
Today, I would like to share with you the piece that I composed for the Composing Competition organized by Ryan Leach during this month!
The challenge consisted in making a piece of 90 seconds (at maximum), inspired by the artwork "Mushtown - Interior Design" created by Marcos de la Sierra.
It's the second time that I have the opportunity to participate to a composing competition and I can definitely say that I had a lot of fun once again !
I feel like I have been able to improve on various aspects since the last competition, especially on the mixing, and on the use of percussive instruments (it could be just an impression though xD).
At any case, I'm really happy with the final version! It's almost as I envisioned it (unfortunately, there are still some "bumps" that may alter the quality of the track, but even so, I don't want to lose hope, especially when knowing that I have been able to improve a little ^^)
Regarding the story of the track, I tried to represent the solemnity and the mystical aspect of the ceremony to which participate the members of the mushroom people we can see on the picture.
What influenced me to represent the track in this ambience was not only the lotus flower-shaped "throne" that we can see on the picture (related to buddhism) but also the lanterns which really gave me an "oriental feeling.
That's why I combined various musical influences in this piece!
My main sources of inspiration were Schala's Theme and Corridors of Time from Chrono Trigger OST album. As I was creating this track, I figured that it also contained another influence from the style of Toshio Matsuda, who composed the OST of Naruto and Mushishi! xD
