A Roy tells it as it is. The phenomenon of the BJP in India and populism in general is a pernicious influence across many so called democratic countries. However , India has more minorities to pick on and they are scapegoated with this idea that Hindus somehow equate the nation. Visiting the south of the country over a 10 year span I had many discussions with Christians who felt persecuted and alienated by the ideology. Their fear was palpable and I imagine the same goes for the many other minorities mentioned in the threads of this email. Also not all Hindus go along with this, they find it reprehensible too. Many lessons being learned from the arch populist Donald Trump who never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.

She is an idealist. We need to have such people in all countries. But I would also say that we cannot have an ideal world. We cannot not have Atomic bombs when US, Britain, Pakistan, Russia, China have them. We cannot not have a defensive Hindu organization till the time Christianity and Islam have it. She has made her life and career out of speaking ill about her own in every global platform she has been while praising its undemocratic neighbours. She is communist intellectual who sees india as an oppessor. She wud be very happy to see india disintegrate into 300 princely state. She cannot bear the fact that India is being taken seriously in global geopolitics. She has been this way in any government, she spoke agains india during congress time also. 😂 I hate to break it to you but ancient India wasn't the weird homogenous Hindu ethnostate paradise you fantasise about, it was home to multiple complex civilisations with, among other things, cultural exchange between different religions and communities, nuanced attitudes to sex and gender and subversive art. Oppression and supremacism I'm sure existed then too, but so did pluralism, exploration of challenging ideas and multicultural societies - i.e. the stuff you and your heroes try to stamp out in modern India.
