Arturs Silovs Has Got That DAWG In Him...
Спорт
Scientists will tell you that there is no such thing as "The Clutch Gene", but I present to you an athlete that has the ability to take his game to remarkable heights when the stakes are highest. His name is Arturs Silovs, and he is the Vancouver Canucks' third string goaltender! He has carried them to the second round against the two best players in the world, how far can he possibly go?
As always, if you enjoy this video, please like, comment, and subscribe!

The best way how a small KZread channel can attract swarms of Latvians is to create a video about our hockey players 😊
Team left him out to dry tonight, only player that gave a noticeable effort was Garland…Silovs has all the makings of our “next Demko” he looks so comfortable in the crease and the fact he’s performing at this level in such high stress situations proves Ian Clark is the GOAT goalie coach

Garland was the only one to give it a 60 minute effort. On the powerplays, which were pathetic, he was the only one that looked dynamic. Once Silovs improves his puck tracking and long distance shots, look out. He has prime Vasilevsky/Bobrovsky written all over him.
Silovs balls are HUGE. A rookie goalie going for a poke check like that down 0-2 in an important playoff game! IF YOU’RE A GOALTENDER, BEAT KANE IN A FOOT RACE AND STOP A BREAKAWAY!!!!

From the very first moment Silovs took the net he had a profound swagger about him, especially for the situation. I noticed it immediately as i was checking him for nerves... the complete opposite, he looked eager to go and in complete control.

He will get caught pulling stunts like that.

That was entertainment. Silovs in a sprint with Kane for puck possession. As John Cheech Garrett said, as Silovs came out, he kept control and played it perfectly, low crouch to avoid collision, kept his balance and skate brake and was aware of possible rebound to another oiler
100% I’d like to see your Latvia 🇱🇻 hockey history breakdown.

wow that one commenter actually crushed it. Silovs thrives on big games.

Regardless of what happens this year a tandem of Silovs and Demko means the nucks might have the best goalie tandem in the league.
As both a Latvian and a Canucks fan I couldn't be more proud of the dude.
Big respect from Latvia, all the stuff you said about my country is totally true and I'm surprised about the research of our hockey history. Great job! P.S. I must say that the statue of Šilovs was temporary for the summer, but I sure hope he will bring the Cup to Vancouver AND another medal for Latvia one day so we will build a permanent one. 🤞

I remember that original video and at that point I hadn't seen him play but when I look over at his performances on team Latvia the only thing I saw was CLUTCH
As a Latvian, I’d like to see you make a separate video on our ice hockey history, I actually don’t know much about it myself, so it would be educational video for me as well. I subscribed :)

What a great video- history, facts, fun, humility, excitement- it’s all there! As a lifelong hockey player born of Latvian parents in the US, your narrative was riviting and gave me goosebumps and proud for 🇱🇻. I’m a Ranger fan and hoping (beyond hope) to see Šilovs vs Shesty in the Cup finals!

This guy's gold, he's got heart, go Arturs Silovs go.
Minor correction - he didn't steal the net from Elvis in the world's, Elvis didn't join team Latvia that year. Interestingly enough, Latvia won Bronze against the US. Who was in the net for the US? His current teammate Casey DeSmith.

Interesting!
Do not forget another one great Latvian NHL player - goalie Artūrs Irbe 😉
Saw someone calling Silovs Demko’s Heir Apparent and I couldn’t agree more. He took ostensibly the best offensive team in the league to 7 games, some of the best development a goalie could ask for.
I was in the house for the game, silovs was unreal. I was the only Canuck fan in my section 😂😂 I was saying let’s go boeser every time the crowd was saying let’s go oilers 😂😂
It is strange you forgot Artūrs Irbe...
Awesome breakdown, proper introduction to a dynamic goaltender. Loved how you covered the difference in his performance when it comes to high pressure or no pressure ganes
What an amazing young goalie with a bright future
I didn’t know that the Latvians introduced hockey to the Russians. Or that they had a hockey culture from the 1930’s. Back to tonight’s game. I agree with Ian Mckintyre’s synopsis. This version of the team hasn’t fully plugged in to playoff mode. Partly because half the roster has no playoff experience. Tonight’s game was crucial for the Canucks and they didn’t play with the same desperation as Edmonton until the third period. Learning curve

Cole has been horrific, he has to go. I know Juulsen made a bad mistake, but his is easily correctable and otherwise he was solid. You can’t fix whatever is up with Cole right now.

Would love to see a researched piece on Latvia hockey history. Really cool stuff!

5:48 are you serious not mentioning Latvian legend and NHL goalie Arturs Irbe? Overall nice video! thanks!
You can thank Ian Clark and staff
Silov's
He's the only one that kept the Canucks from being annihilated, 12 / 0 in that game
sad we dont have our brick wall this season iihf 2024 latvia :((
God I hope so.
I agree. Canucks are opposite of the Oilers. Almost every goalie I see does well in Vancouver.
Śilovs has been playing great, but we have yet to see how he bounces back from a bad night. He's been fantastic, but there are still questions... as he hasn't had a bad game... yet. It'll happen and when it does, we'll see what he's made of.
5:52 you forgot the brick wall Artūrs Irbe, amongst the legends. Zemgus Girgensons still is a thing, not talking about new ones Kristiāns Rubīns Rūdolfs Balcers. There are more that even I can't name, so no hard feelings.

definently do a latvian hockey history video. But id say leave till after the playoffs so you can focus your attention here for now
meanwhile Casey DeSmith is watching his world fall apart.

FYI hes not "Silovs", hes "Shilovs". H got lost due to in Latvian "sh" is written as a single letter š
Canucks should trade Demko, free up that cash and get some faster skating offensive players on the roster and they'll be a more complete team. Shilovs to me can become a very very good starter in this league.
Latvia mentioned RAAAAAHH, fyi the correct way to pronounce his surname is shilov.
ya that would be a cool video to see how latvia brough hockey to the ussr.
